NPR Interviews Only Andrew Sullivan: Obama's 'Marriage' Move Is 'Conservative' and He 'Let Go Of The Fear'
National Public Radio did a classic pirouette of one-sidedness on All Things Considered Wednesday night. For comment on Obama' s "evolution" on gay marriage, NPR invited only a "leading advocate of same-sex marriage," gay activist-pundit Andrew Sullivan, now writing for Newsweek/The Daily Beast. There is no time for the social conservatives, just the gays.
Sullivan oozed about Obama: "I think he let go of fear today, the fear that somehow by embracing this natural, obvious and I would say conservative development he was sometimes -- somehow embracing political calamity. He wasn't, he isn't, he won't." NPR anchor Audie Cornish asked him if this was about fundraising, but he just praised Obama's (and America's) evolution:
CORNISH: It's also been noted that a lot of the big-money donors in the Democratic Party are gay and lesbian. And you've suggested that maybe this all just has to do with money. And do you still feel that way?
SULLIVAN: I told you how I feel. Analytically, I do think, look, we're talking about politics here. And I do think that with Wall Street being less generous than they were in 2008, gay donors and gay support is actually critical to fundraising. And I think many leading gay activists just told the White House quite clearly that if you were not do to this, then their support would not be forthcoming, especially after he declined to enforce an executive order banning discrimination against homosexuals in federal contracting.
So -- but I didn't see that today. I mean, I'll see the whole thing tonight. I didn't see it today. I saw today the man I watched for five years now. And that is whom I heard in, as long ago as 2007, tell the mother of a gay son, I want your son to be equal and to have every right that a heterosexual has. I think getting past the M-word for him was a struggle. I don't he's alone in this. And I don't think it's crazy for people to feel this way. But I think he's evolved as Americans have evolved, suddenly rather quickly. And I think this is how it happens, suddenly rather quickly. What seemed unthinkable becomes obviously right.
Remember this the next time NPR asks for your donation. Oh wait! They don't have to ask for your donation. They take it out of your paycheck.

Yes, Andrew, 6 months before the election he comes out in favor of gay marriage after speaking out against it for 8 years. Yes, no doubt, he let go of the fear..........you imbecile.
Like most liberals, you're being used and you dont see it, you sheep.
Biden outed Obama
Submitted by Galvanic on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 9:09am.
Biden re-opened that can of worms, so his crisis team had to make a decision. At this point, if he reaffirmed his 2008 position, it wouldn't make it go away, and Romney would merely continue to respond as he had in the primaries: "My position is the same as the President's." So politically, the plus for supporting same-sex marriage outweighed the minus.
I do think that Obama wanted to wait until after the election so he could announce his change with great fanfare, underscoring how his intellectual yearning for doing what's right eventually overcame his religious convictions (Does he even have any?). But the campaign staff had to react now, and so instead of couching it his "evolved position," it came off as purely political, further underscoring this guy's insincerity.

It came out today that supposedly Obama "decided" about this some time ago, but they were planning on it being his big "Ta-DAA!!" moment at the convention!
But his hand got forced.

I'm still not convinced that Plugs Bite-Me wasn't being used (wow, what a concept!!!) by Axelgrease and Count Dracula Soros on this gay-marriage thing...................it could have been part of the plan. Didn't one or two of Baraka's cabinet members mention their approval of gay marriage last week aslo - before Bite-Me was flappin' his big mouth??? I could be wrong.............but the way these guys operate, I might also be right. They have their scemes and their agenda and their insidious ways of enacting them, but they quite often screw them up - it's just that the media is loathe to ever bring it up.
At any rate, it's a great day for our country, and I'm really relieved about all of my anxiety and concern and stress for the future of this nation - now that Boy Baraka has 'gone conservative' and 'conquered his fear', and gone 'all in' on gay marriage!!! I do believe that all of our problems are solved now!!!

Cluebat for Sullivan: what homosexuals do is still unthinkable to most Americans.
Never in history have 5% of the population hijacked the entire political narrative like this. Muslims will soon be back to blowing up planes with surgically implanted bombs, the economy is in shambles, a huge segment of the population has given up on finding a job and all we're talking about is deviant sex.

That's only because the gay issue strikes into the heart of Christian doctrine. Since the destruction of Christianity is foremost on the liberal agenda, the media and academia took up the gay rights cause as their own and threw all their muscle behind it. That's how 5% of the population dictate the narrative.

so that's the reason it will not be accepted mainstream for quite some time, despite what activist judges may do.
Another important point, which is: gays and lesbians have now for a couple of years been referring to their cause as LGBT, which includes people who have no problem with group sex, those who feel that choosing one's physical gender is a choice, etc. So, if we were to allow same-sex marriages, how long before they start pushing for three-way (or more) marriages? Or transgender marriages? And then the ability for all those freaks to adopt children? Adolescence is confusing enough without the poor kid having to contemplate his two dads having sex...or worse. Maybe mommy has a couple guys that she's married to (details omitted for reasons of decorum), and maybe mommy used to be daddy...
It's not so far fetched for these people.

Funny how the left is calling it an "evolution". Don't want to say "flip flop", that's reserved for Romney...
In any case, why is our tax money going to this? And NPR has the audacity to say they're non-biased.
evolution.....Bravo Sierra and Barbra Streisand!

I love how they bandy that word "evolution" around in this case when just like anything liberals say or do is the opposite of what's "intended."
In this case, they embrace something that actually spells the END of them rather than something that "evolves" which I strongly disagree with. Homosex has NEVER created life, and it never will, it's a Dead End. Heterosex has always created life and it always will. For those of you in Rio Linda, that's what Procreation is, a man and a woman making a baby. That's what marriage is about, it's a merging of a man and woman to perpetuate the human species.
That's different from the "expression of feelings," which is a totally different situation and one left alone because I don't CARE to know what happens in one's bedroom. It ain't none of my business and if I wanted to see stuff like that, I'll find the porn for it, I don't want to see it on the mainstream TV shows like they are trying to force it on us via "Will and Grace" and "glee" or whatever is out there.
But libs, don't tell me this is about "evolution." "Evolution" is about adapting to the changing physical environment or it's going to DIE and go extinct. That's all there is to it. Oh yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with the "strongest shall survive" Darwinistic nonsense, that's irrelevant.

I can't help but believe he LOST votes over this issue in order to pander for MONEY.
btw - How does someone change positions on an issue such as this, considering how many times he has referenced his faith on the issue. Whether he is Christian or Muslim it doesn't matter, neither condone the entire practice.

would be pleased, because Obama basically said his own "religious faith" was wrong on the issue, just like Sulllivan does.
In 2006 Obama said his "religious faith" informed his decision that it was wrong. Now he has basically said his faith was wrong, and he sees the "right" path.

It's because Obama and many like him believe in a god who evolves with them. It's an old story and nothing new. The travesty is the affect such abomination coming from the top has on the nation.
Psalm 50:21 "These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes."

If Obama is having problems with gay supporters that's critical to fundraising at this point in the election cycle, it clearly indicates his weakness running for a 2nd term which is also seen in the latest polls where he's in a statistical tie with Romney. Strategically, Obama's evolution on gay marriage will hurt him in many states - he's playing a weak and desperate hand in political poker.

I want someone to find out who the members of [his] staff are that are same-sex couples (plural, he said) raising children.
I'm a doubting Thomas; I don't believe they exist any more than Sasha and Malia -does he have to drag his kids into everything??- have friends (again, plural) whose parents are same-sex couples
If he has same-sex couples on his staff, I can't believe he hasn't yet made an appearance with them as a backdrop.
It doesn't mean his "evolution" is any more or less genuine, but it just underscores his need to personalize everything and embroider everything to make it more substantial.

Aside from the 'military fighting on MY behalf' remark - which almost made me jump out of my seatbelt as I was driving back to my jobsite from the hardware store yesterday - this remark that you mentioned was number two on my list of outrageous statements!!! Hey, Baraka - prove it!!! If you and 'your people' are so damn proud of your gayness, your loving, same-sex gayness................and you've got wonderful kids in your loving, monogomous, same-sex gay marraiges or relationships, then bring them out for a photo-op, and sing the praises of your new 'conservative, fearless' decisions!!! Jeezus H. Christo!!!! What a krock of Kenyan kow krap!!!!
And while you're at it, Boy BlahBlah, bring Moooooooooooochie and the girls out too, since they are just as comfortable with it as you (and Joe Plugs Bite-Me) are.
Complete delusional idiocy........................and it has become the norm these days!!!

Obama "evolved" on this subject? No, he PUNTED on it. He said it was a State's issue, remember? That's the first time he's ever referred to the State's right of semi-autonomy when making an announcement about his "support" of a supposed "civil rights."
Actually, Obama is as opposed to Gay marriage today as he was 8 years ago, he's just lying about it, and passing it off to someone else (the various State legislatures in this case) as to avoid criticisms.
