On PBS, David Brooks Predicts Herman Cain Is 'Behaving Badly' and Will Collapse 'Within a Week Or Two'

On the Friday news roundup on the PBS NewsHour, pseudoconservative analyst David Brooks of The New York Times kept up his disparaging of Herman Cain, predicting "he will be deflated very seriously within a week or two." He attacked Cain for "behaving badly" and having "gone for the home run" in denying all sexual harassment claims. Mr. Brooks didn't consider it at all possible that Cain could be truthful in denying all claims.

On both NPR and PBS Friday, Brooks lamented that Jeb Bush isn't in the race and would be the frontrunner pleasing both conservatives and moderates if he had chosen to make a run. He clearly has no respect for Herman Cain:

JIM LEHRER: What about -- how is Herman Cain and his problem being -- how is Herman Cain dealing with his problem, which is sexual harassment?

DAVID BROOKS: Yes. Well, he's, I think, behaving badly.

First of all, what I think of the -- he's gone for the home run. They're all lying. And then his lawyer said watch out for the next people, which was brutal and rude. So far, his polling is up there. I think this is an illusion. I think his polling will be down quite quickly.

Right now, there's a reaction from his core supporters against the media. That is, they don't want to -- they don't want to give anything to their ideological -- perceived ideological opponents in the media. But this is registering.

And I think when you see the rise of Newt Gingrich, which is happening right now, that's Cain beginning to deflate. And I think he will be deflated very seriously within a week or two.

Then Lehrer turned to Shields, who mocked the idea of liberal bias as if "we meet in secret meetings." Who needs a meeting when everyone agrees?

LEHRER: How do you explain the Gingrich thing? Do you agree that that -- it's part of that? It's...

MARK SHIELDS: Well, I think there is a constituency in the Republican Party primary -- David would be more familiar with this than I am -- but that really is -- you could call them the anti-mainstream media constituency. I mean, that really is a route. Sarah Palin rode that horse, the "lamestream media," she called it, but the sense that there are people out there who believe there is a conspiracy, that we meet in secret meetings and come up: This is the agenda and this is what the take is going to be.

Brooks has been actly

badly for ages. And as to collaspe , he collasped years ago. His flipping agenda is rather obnoxious. One day he is half Conservative but, the majority of the time, he is a radical lib, with a nice crease in his pants, and fits right in with the lame stream media. His remarks equal zero.

David Brooks versus reality

Submitted by big.league.slider on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 1:17am.

If David Brooks existed in the same universe as the rest of us, he'd have noted that Herman Cain is still polling ahead of his preferred candidates Romney and Huntsman. As for a "collapse", the only public collapse I have seen recently are the claims of Cain's accusers. In less than 2 weeks, they have come and gone.

I don't even know how to reply to Brooks' claim of Cain having "supporters in the media".  Can he name even one, because I sure don't know of any.  The entire media, both left wing and "conservative" elites, pick on Cain.

On January 21, 2013, David Brooks' NYT editorial will ask the question, "How did Herman Cain get elected President? I don't know a single person that voted for him".

David Brooks is a conservative like Ted Bundy was a feminist.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 2:44am.

He has nothing positive to say about ANY conservative, except for the occasional endorsement of a position even too liberal for the NYT to take without appearing like Trotsky or Lenin.

Why any news agency thinks David Brooks represents anything but a fake conservative is beyond words.

MARK SHIELDS: "Well, I think

Submitted by TE on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 2:53am.

MARK SHIELDS: "Well, I think there is a constituency in the Republican Party primary -- David would be more familiar with this than I am ...."

Brooks "would be more familiar with" "a constituency in the Republican Party" than Shields is? Hahahahaha! Shields' typically stupid comment is just another failed attempt by PBS hacks to portray Brooks as a "Republican" with "knowledge" of Republicans. Brooks is every bit as ignorant of the Republican Party as Shields is. Neither Brooks, Shields nor Jim Lehrer even knows one person who is a Republican.

Also, note how leftist political activist Jim Lehrer "asks": "how is Herman Cain dealing with his problem, which is sexual harassment?"

Herman Cain's "problem" is "sexual harassment"?

I sort of doubt that Jim Lehrer ever asked anyone: "How is Bill Clinton dealing with his problem, which is his rape of Juanita Brodderick?" or "How is Bill Clinton dealing with his problem, which is his sexual assault of Kathleen Willey?" or "How is Bill Clinton dealing with his problem, which is his exposure of his genitals to Paula Jones in a hotel room?" or "How is Bill Clinton dealing with his problem, which is his use of a cigar on teenage intern Monica Lewinski?"

The MSM which wants to show they still have power and are relevant will not be satisfied until Cain's head is on a pike outside of their studios as a warning to all who dare mock them or question their power.

It's pretty clear to me

Submitted by DontFeedTheTrolls on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 6:47am.

I don't know if the Lamestream Media actually DO have any secret meetings but I do know they sure do say the same damn things, often word for word, which Rush frequently will play just to prove that point. The one that always comes to mind is how the MSM reacted to Sandy 'Burgler' Berger, anchor after anchor, journalist after journalist, saying he was just 'sloppy' when describing his crimes.

Submitted by Dave. on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 11:03am.

If you are stoopid enough to believe that Herman Cain, who has a business career of nearly four decades - yet all of these accusations took place within a three year period, all of which came from women in one city (Chicago) is a 'pervert,' then why have there been no accusations from any other periods in Hermans life?

Hmm?

Face it, you're a dumbass.

And probably a racist as well.

My little coward, as much as you are aching for democracy to end in the United States by having your God declared PFL, we're going to have to have the election anyway.

Besides, my Socialist thief, I didn't see you calling Weiner or Mr. Greatthings "perverts".  Leftists can say and do as they damn well please, I guess.

ANONYMOUS ALLEGES DAVID BROOKS DIDDLES LITTLE BOYS

Submitted by Annie Ashe Fields on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 9:25am.

Whah? THAT'S SLANDEROUS? THE HELL YOU SAY.

NOW TRY BEING HERMAN CAIN YOU PIECE OF SH*T.

You mean... It's SLANDER if "anonymous" "alleges" something about YOU, a WHITE guy? Is that it? But it's NOT slander if "anonymous" "alleges" something DESPICABLE about a BLACK GUY? Is THAT how this works? (I, personally, think race is secondary to this mess, but a liberal would argue it this way.)

How are you going to DEFEND yourself, David? How do you DEFEND yourself if all your little press buddies spend ALL of next week printing 100+ stories with ANONYMOUS ALLEGATIONS that YOU, DAVID BROOKS, diddles little boys? It's IMPOSSIBLE, isn't it? It's punching at air.

OKAY --

POP QUIZ!!!! What did Herman do? "FOUR WOMEN" have come forward, right?

QUICK! ANSWER!

1. "You're as tall as my wife."
2. The BULLSH*T story Bialek told about the "incident" in the car - HIGHLY SUSPECT.
3. Anonymous woman - unknown complaint.
4. Anonymous woman - unknown complaint.

ON #1: "You're as tall as my wife" sued her SUBSEQUENT employer for sexual harassment when a male co-worker sent around an email that "men are like computers because you have to turn them on, and women are like computers because they remember everything" - THAT was the CENTRAL FEATURE, not ancillary, but THE CENTRAL FEATURE of her second, subsequent complaint. THAT'S WHY the going-to-the-ladies-room-in-a-group presser floated around was KILLED.

ON #2: And Bialek? (Stipulated - ALL "lie" technology is squishy, okay?) The latest, and BEST in lie detector technology ran a voice analysis on both Herman & Bialek - and said, HERMAN'S TELLING THE TRUTH AND, like *I* have said, Bialek's story is credible - EXCEPT FOR THE ALLEGATION OF ASSAULT. This Atlanta lie detector guy said THAT'S WHERE HER STORY FALLS APART - HUGE. As I've written previously, he passed up THREE opportunites to go use this 'palatial' suite he upgraded her to, ostensibly to USE IT, and he chooses to MEET in the hotel bar - pass - LEAVE the hotel to go out to dinner - PASS - then PICKS A CAR, IN PUBLIC, OUTSIDE HIS EMPLOYER TO *ASSAULT* HER? When EVERYONE agrees Herman very likely could have ... ASKED for nookie? Hello?

ON #3 & #4: Well, it circles back to #1 & #2. Add in Ann Coulter's (in Human Events) BLISTERING ripping off of the scab of the "coinky-dinks" vis-a-vis the source of ALL of this being AXE & CHICAGO, through ex-Cain/NRA employees now working for the opposition, and that these were all alleged to have happened in this ONE 3 year period, in the LEWINSKY years, when everyone was whining to their employers over NOTHING for a quick $50k.... It just all piles up to a mountain of steaming sh*t.

Brooksy-baby, and the rest of you liberal wh*res?

There's a DIRECT INVERSE relationship between how much the liberal media slams a candidate and how much we "love" him, so KEEEEEP TALKIN, kids!

WE'RE SMARTER THAN YOU.

YOU KNOW IT.

AND IT'S KILLING YOU.

Pants Crease

Submitted by Jerry Mack on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 2:29pm.

Brooks is Obama's 'crease in the pants' media jester

Submitted by Slyrr on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 3:42pm.

Maybe Mr. Brooks should keep his mouth shut about 'behaving badly', given that he whored himself for Obama by saying that the 'crease in his pants' qualified him to rule the world.

Sorry Mr. Brooks - but you have no intellectual credibility anymore. You're a fool - an idiot - a stage comedian who deserves no consideration. The fact that these networks put YOU on them for opinions makes THEM a laughing stock as well.

If your 'intellectual' qualifications for being made a President consist only of whether or not you have a crease in your pants, then you have no right to speak at all. Go back to Elementary School, Mr. Brooks - because that seems to be the only place where you might have an intellectual peer.

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

I agree with Brooks on the point that Cain has certainly . . .

Submitted by Galvanic on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 10:04pm.

. . . put it all on the line. He has personally and categorically denied the allegations. He is is either correct and will be vindicated, or he is lying and his Presidential ambitions will smack into a wall.

Where I differ with Brooks is in the assumption of guilt. Brooks accepts the allegations as fact, and pronounces that Cain's campaign is in its dying days.

I am not a fan of Herman Cain; I think his proposed 9% VAT is the first step to ruin. But I will give him credit for being a stand-up man. He held a 37-minute press conference and answered questions for over 15 minutes; most pols these days have a lawyer or a spokesman do the speaking so that they themselves always have plausible deniability.

Time will tell if he survives.

Four accusations, two by women who are less than exemplary. But the media will push this as hard as possible until Cain goes down.

Like you I don't buy any of it. Women have come no where in this country if we allow unfounded accusations to turn us against men who have otherwise led a honest life. Some women continue to be led by feminazis and the media. We've come a short way baby, if we can't see through this bull.
