NPR: Schumer Ties Scott Walker to Deadly 1911 Fire

Liberals have a bad habit of mixing funerals (or death anniversaries) with political rallies. On Friday night's All Things Considered, NPR's Robert Smith offered a story that was 100 percent about union activists and liberal politicians, with no rebuttals.

NPR anchor Melissa Block began: "New York City today marked the 100th anniversary of one of its worst disasters: a fire at the Triangle shirtwaist factory that killed 146 people. NPR's Robert Smith reports that the city's unions used today to voice their anger over recent union setbacks."

Smith revealed Sen. Charles Schumer somehow connected Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to those long-ago fiery deaths:

SMITH:  The appalling safety conditions in the Triangle factory became a rallying cry for unions 100 years ago. And with unions under attack again, they're going back to what worked. Bruce Raynor of Workers United.

Mr. BRUCE RAYNOR (Workers United): We come together to remind ourselves why those workers were killed by the greed of their bosses, that those workers were fighting for their rights to have a union in that workplace.

SMITH: By the end of the rally, the anger at the greedy bosses of yore morphed easily into outrage at recent union setbacks in Wisconsin and New Jersey. Senator Chuck Schumer came awfully close to blaming Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker for the fire.

Senator CHUCK SCHUMER (Democrat, New York): And to the families of the victims, we will not let right-wing ideologues and Scott Walker Republicans undo your loved ones' legacy!

To paraphrase an old lawyer's joke

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sun, 03/27/2011 - 8:34am.

What's the difference between a NY Senator and a flounder?

One's a bottom-feeding, big mouth sucker.

The other's a fish.

ABC News Radio

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Sun, 03/27/2011 - 9:57am.

My local radio station that carries conservative talk is owned by Citadel Broadcasting.  Because this is the case, I have to listen to ABC News Radio at the top of the hour for five minutes.  (And yes, I know I don't technically have to, but i can't always get to the radio to shut it off for five minutes!)

The other day, ABC News Radio ran their story about it being the 100th Anniversary of the Triangle Factory fire disaster.  They ended the segment by saying, (and I paraphrase)....."Some people say that what's going on politically in Wisconsin and Minnesota is an attempt to roll back the clock and take away worker rights, and this may lead to a recurrence of the conditions leading up to this type of disaster."

Coordinated talking points?

Blatant Bias

Submitted by Red Jeep on Sun, 03/27/2011 - 10:48am.

Coordinated? Maybe. Copycatting/ Probably.

There is no reason to connect Scott Walker, Wisconsin and Minnesota to the Triangle Factory Fire except for bias.

If the MSM were not biased they would not even be trying for a connection. It's apples vs. oranges argument.

What a stretch. With all the fire exits, fire alarms, overhead sprinklers and fire extinguishers in schools and public buildings we won't be having massive deaths of any state employees in fires because of Scott Walker.

Senator Schumer is just a .....( self censored)......where are the term limits for insufferable jerks like him to protect the rest of the country that can't vote against him be free of his stupidity?

I am embarrassed that this

Submitted by Scuba Dude on Sun, 03/27/2011 - 12:09pm.

I am embarrassed that this a-hole represents me in the Senate. Chucky Cheese Schumer is cranking up the rhetoric; better keep the flight attendants clear of him.

Do you think Weiner aspires to be just like Chuck? I so hope he does not run for Mayor of NYC, because if he does and he won I would seriously think about moving out of the City. Jersey here I come!!!!!! :-)

And is it pronounced Wee-ner like weenie, or wye-ner like whiner.

The little putz certainly fits both categories.

"Chucky Cheese Schumer"?

Wouldn't "Cheezy Chuckie Schumer" be more accurate?

One of upchucks favorite

Submitted by Willis_Leon_Johnson on Mon, 03/28/2011 - 11:38pm.

One of upchucks favorite quotes was when he declared that "No American can possibly have a reason to own a street sweeper".

I started a list off the top of my head.

Reginald Denny, and any other person caught in a riot with no means, or avenue, of escape should have a 'street sweeper' handy, with plenty of ammunition to protect himself, his family, friends, neighbors and anybody else that needs protection from the mobs.

In the deep south in the early parts of the last century, many Black communities could have used a number of "street sweepers" to protect (se above list) for the same reasons.

Any person that would like to be as well aremed as any enemy he may come up against if anarchy sets in.

It's a long list, but the cheesy old b*st*rd doesn't care about the "INNOCENT LIVES" lost to government disarmed Citizens every year.

Each murder by a criminal is just another reason for him to push for more laws to disarm more Citizens so the criminal has less danger in his work day. OSHA as chuckie really feels it should be applied.

End 'gun violence in America' - Require training and MANDATORY "Shall Carry" by every Citizen.

If harry reid is the best person to lead the senate, what does that say about the other 99 senators?
