Ed Schultz Says Health Insurers Are 'Absolutely Butchering the American People'

On Tuesday’s edition of his radio show, leftist talker Ed Schultz besmirched the insurance industry as butchers. They’re "absolutely butchering" people, like a bad horror movie. Schultz got a little carried away discussing socialist health care with socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders:

You can't have it both ways and hold credibility with the people who are getting gouged. How can Evan Bayh sit there as an honest player for health care reform when his wife works for an industry that is just absolutely butchering the American people, raising rates 100 percent on some people, and Anthem Blue Cross is a subsidiary of WellPoint.

To socialists like Schultz, the economics of private health insurance are immoral. Schultz spent months pushing for the "public option" but only if it was a stepping stone to full-blown Canada-style abolish-the-insurance-companies socialism. He’s still on that line:

I think it is completely immoral for people not to be able to have health care coverage because they're sick already and there's a pre-existing condition. What's the difference between that and not being able to ride in the front of the bus?! There's no difference!

Schultz, like many liberals, wants Obama and the Democrats to start "flipping the bird" at Republicans:

Give me some attitude! And then give me some action. That's, that's, that's, the poll numbers that the Democrats are suffering from, it's because it's a lack of that. That's the issue! Guts. Intestinal fortitude. Ability to be arrogant to give somebody the finger. You know, get some 'tude, man! Tell 'em where it's at!

Schultz lamented "They have defeated Obama in year one. They have defeated Obama in year one. They win. They win round one. OK, so now what are we going to do?" If Obama doesn’t get a socialized-medicine bill, he will lose re-election, Schultz insisted:

This will be a defining moment, this February 25 [meeting with Republicans] and the two weeks following will determine whether Barack Obama is going to be a one-term president or not.
