Sting Jokes to AP Obama 'Sent from God,' But Goes Serious on His Opponents Being 'Violent, Full of Fear'

Here’s more proof Barack Obama has locked up the Secular Celebrity Left: AP music writer Nekesa Mumbi Moody writes:

Sting isn't a religious man, but he says President Barack Obama might be a divine answer to the world's problems.

"In many ways, he's sent from God," he joked in an interview, "because the world's a mess."

But Sting is serious in his belief that Obama is the best leader to navigate the world's problems. In an interview on Wednesday, the former Police frontman said that he spent some time with Obama and "found him to be very genuine, very present, clearly super-smart, and exactly what we need in the world."

"I can't think of any be better qualified because of his background, his education, particularly in regard to Islam," he said.

Sting told AP he was fascinated by American politics, and also by Obama’s opponents on the right. (Oh, so Sting listens to Limbaugh?)

"It's aggressive and violent and full of fear," he said of the backlash against Obama. "They don't want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there."

Sting, 58, said he's hopeful that the world's problems can be dealt with, but is frustrated that "we seem to be living in a currency of medieval ideas."

This is a weird complaint coming out of Sting, whose last album was a basket of medieval ideas: medieval music, to be precise. He was pitched to do a "Christmas album" -- kind of a funny concept for someone who's not religious -- so he pitched a wider "winter" album. In a promotional video, he claimed he wanted an "ambivalent" album, since that's how he feels about winter and Christmas.

Sting suggests he's "fascinated" by the right, but he seems to think the religious conservatives are hemline-obsessed racists:

"My hope is that we can start talking about real issues and not caring about whether God cares about your hemline or your color," he said. "We are here to evolve as one family, and we can't be separate anymore."

We need to "evolve as one family," wow. Isn't it nice how those intellectual musicians can avoid cliches?

Hey! We were just talking about that...here

Interesting enough, when you die you are not dead, check the Owners Manual…

Isn't this the guy who

Isn't this the guy who wrote "One World is Enough for All Of Us"?

He's a misguided ignoramus... good musician, though....

" . . . because the world's

" . . . because the world's a mess."

Well, coming from someone who has done his share of "messing", I'd have to say that it makes him some sort of an expert regarding this messy world.  Let's just let everybody do whatever in the hell they want and damn the hemlines!

JMHO, you understand.

If Saul Alinsky owned a news channel it would be MSNBC.  ----  Me

Hey Sting: BHO is so NOT going to appreciate that Islam thing

Another enviro-hypocrite like Gore, with a personal carbon footprint bigger than Rhode Island.

I'll never understand the media's

(or is it the publics?) obsession with getting musicians or sports figures, or actors to pontificate on the world's ills or economics...or ANYTHING outside their area of expertise.  When was the last time someone asked Kissinger to "shoots some hoops" for the camera, or asked George Will to pick up a guitar and give it a few strums?

It makes about as much sense, doesn't it?  Why do they think that these self-absorbed, spoiled, aressted adolescents have anything intellectual to offer?

Yeah!

I'm a musician and no one listens to me.  Maybe it's because I'm six foot tall, 250 lbs., and I sound like Betty Boop?

WWSD?

I get up every day and ask myself, "What would Sting do?"

You made me laugh StarAZ

You made me laugh StarAZ :)

From now on, I think I'll drop this little gem into conversations that take a leftist turn.

WWSD

I get up every day and ask myself, "What would Sting do?"

The musician or the wrestler?  At least the wrestler is an American. I would put more credence in his fews than the Euro musicians'.

It May Be True

Obama may, indeed, have been sent by God - as a part of his judgment upon us as a nation for our sins.

Stupid is as stupid does

And we should care what an under educated musician says because......why?

arg

Well, I've met the guy several times, and I'm related to his guitar player, so I'll try to be Mr. Nice, but I was always pretty sure he was in line with all of this dumb lib-think.

The English side of my family (his guitar player's immediate family) are all your garden variety Bush-was/is-evil and anti-traditional America types. I witnessed this first hand a couple of years ago when they all sat riveted in front of their English "tely" (BBC, I think it was) nodding and agreeing during this painful 2 hour-long documentary on all of the crimes of the Bush adminstration and the Iraq invasion. I had to politely excuse myself, as I was about to yell "you're all gulping down propaganda!".

Anyway, this is really delicious from the Sting-onator (who's making copies):

"I can't think of any better qualified because of his background, his education, particularly in regard to Islam..."

Ahhh, more concern, reverence and respect for Islam, THE most barbaric, aggressive, violent, fear-creating, fear-of-change and medieval (read on) religion/way of life out there.

Then this, where he lambasts basic conservative values with the worst sterotyping and Islamic/hyperbolic description of it all:

"It's aggressive and violent and full of fear," he said of the backlash against Obama. "They don't want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there."

Sting, 58, said he's hopeful that the world's problems can be dealt with, but is frustrated that "we seem to be living in a currency of medieval ideas."

I swear, do liberals ever actually hear themselves?

EDIT: Not to mention, Sting and liberals are attacking certain people for "not changing". Think of that for a moment. Think how these people have "respect" for all walks of life and religions, etc., which basically is respecting them for being what they are and staying that way -- i.e., NOT CHANGING.

Sting needs to lay off the

Sting needs to lay off the hallucinogens.

Anyhow, I wonder if he wants to go on tour with the middle aged corporate pop star hippie tour with Bono/U2 and Bruce Springsteen. They can schmooze with Washington insiders and play sold out arenas filled with white middle aged liberal baby boomers.

Chris Matthews: "Omg!  Bruce, Bono, and Sting in one sitting!  So spiritual.  I was sitting next to Obama.  We came close to kissing a few times.  I was magical, I say.  I ran my hand up Obama's leg and I think he liked it.  Amazing.  "

humanzee

Hahaha. That was all great! And yes, again, the hypocrisy of the life these rock stars lead against the nonsense they spout is really no longer funny.

Gordon Sumner

Gordon Sumner (I can't bring myself to call a grown man "Sting") should just shut up and sing.  Wait, I can't can't stand his boring music...just shut up, Gordie!

Sting, stang, stung

Holeinthehull

Sting, Why don't you write Obama a love song and tell him how stung you are by him.  Maybe you can get the press to sing backup

As a fellow Brit I will say

As a fellow Brit I will say that Sting is entitled to his own opinion and considering he flew Concorde whilst bemoaning the state of the Amazon rainforests I will it give it the due consideration it deserves.

Sting said he was delighted to be travelling on Concorde again, having been a regular customer for 20 years.

"Concorde is a symbol of British Airways , of air travel and normal life. Some people are too afraid to leave their homes and need to be encouraged to travel."

He said he had particular reasons to be pleased to use Concorde today as his wife, actress Trudi Styler was giving a speech in New York tonight and did not realise that he was coming over.

Sting added: "I'm still excited about going on Concorde even after all these years. Flying at twice the speed of sound gives you a buzz."

It never seems to amaze me

It never seems to amaze me how many super-super-wealthy liberals in the entertainment industry hate America and capitalism.

Define "change"

"They don't want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there."

You mean safe in the sense that we believe in a nation where all men are endowed by Creator God with inalienable rights. Where all men are equal? Where perverted lifestyles are not given preemenence? Where the unborn aren't murdered in the womb? Where traditional families aren't treated as "out of date" and "out of touch"? A nation where children feel safe to play outside because society is morally responsible for its behavior instead of being encouraged to live like reprobates? Where our government isn't trying to run our lives but believes in the rights and greatness of individualism and achievement? A place where rock stars and celebrities don't promote immoral lifestyles and pervert our children's minds?Do you mean a place of peace and safety from foreign enemies?

Yeah, I guess we're pretty "old fashioned" like that Sting.

be megalomania or erotomania, the drive for power or the drive for
pleasure, the clenched fist or the phallus, Hitler or Hugh Hefner."

I've got mine...

Isn't it inspiring when these uber rich people tell us how we should live our lives? Of course Stingk will not miss a few hundred thousand pounds in extra taxation because he will just raise his ticket prices and fly around the warming globe scooping up our money. All the while openly insulting at least half of us, who are not living in ten thousand square foot homes and not flying on private jets. Obama and Stingk are just perfect for each other, two narcissists in a pod.
