On Radio, Ed Schultz Urges Alan Grayson as Obama's Speechwriter, Jokes About Shooting GOP Aide

Ultraliberal talk show host Ed Schultz took to his radio show Thursday to raise the roof for Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Florida) and his charge that Republican health plan is "die quickly" and their neglect has led to a "holocaust." Schultz thinks he should write speeches for Obama. That wouldn’t exactly match Obama’s whole unite-not-divide campaign, but Schultz doesn’t care:

"This guy is an all-American representative. This guy had, you think he's worried about re-election?! You know why he's doing this? Because he's representing the people in his district. This is how Americans feel....

Gosh I wish President Obama would take that material and lay it right on these 40 obstructionists in the Senate. In fact I wish this Grayson guy was a speechwriter for President Obama...

This is what liberals have been missing for two decades. This type of punch-'em-in-the-nose mentality, give it right back to 'em. Now I think that there are progressive talkers out there that have done this, including myself, I'm not the only one.

Later in the show, Schultz denounced National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain for telling The Hill newspaper that Grayson "has established a pathological pattern of unstable behavior" in his attacks. Schultz said he wanted to take him hunting and shoot him:

'This is how they play the game. Spain is the same guy that went after me. Hey, can I Cheney this guy? Could I take him pheasant hunting? I won't shoot him in the face. I may hit him in the ass, but I won't get him in the face.

Schultz was encouraged by pencil-thin ultraliberal Rep. Anthony Weiner, who agreed liberals need to play rough:

WEINER: The way I put it, sometimes we Democrats go into knife fights carrying library books. I think, you know, we need to be, we need to be animated by voices like yours and by Grayson's to say, listen, you know, to some degree what he was, the point that he was making, and it was somewhat ironic, is that, you know, all of this crazy talk that's coming from the Right, trying to prevent health care from happening, the death panels, you're gonna put Granny to sleep, really what it comes down to is his fundamental point, we shouldn't lose sight of the forest for the trees, the Republican proposal is to do nothing

On Friday’s show, Schultz spent most of the first half hour avoiding the Olympic fiasco, spending the time instead with John Nichols of The Nation praising Grayson. On the charge of calling the Republicans part of a health care "holocaust," Nichols thought he was more entitled: "He’s Jewish, I’m not."

Maybe someone should tell Ed....

Democrats don't need one single Republican vote.

" if Republicans are able to stop Barack Obama on health care, 'it will be his Waterloo, it will break him....-Sen. Jim DeMint

They don't seem to realize

They don't seem to realize that do they?  I guess Ed and his ilk can't run their shows on going after the few Democrats that won't play along, so they have to talk about the Republicans that won't play along.  But as you say, Democrats don't need a single Republican.  But to ignore that and go after the Dems, who won't play, just wouldn't a good liberal make.

I guess doing that would be "PSSSSSYCHO TALK," ay Eddie?

Weiner:"....all of this crazy talk that's coming from the Right, trying to prevent health care from happening..."

Hey Weiner, newsflash for you too, you don't need a single Republican vote.  Why don't you go "play rough" with your Democrat colleagues who won't play ball with you?

Fat Eddie can't count

This is why it is a foolish endeavor to engage liberals as though they are rational people that can be reasoned with. They are morons.

And a better reason to

And a better reason to squash all Democrats even at the local level.  The local Democrats become national and will rule your lives.  So squash a local Dem race.

How does that have any bearing on whether your general comments here put you to the left of Big Ed?  And, on your very next comment, you performed exactly as predicted by ahusser.

I am okay with that. In fact, most of my friends are libs, actually.

Thanks, Dave... I don't

Thanks, Dave...

I don't think this is an issue I'll ever "win".  If I call Shultz an a-hole, I'm apparently [according to NL] being too tough on him.  If I don't condemn him, that somehow is interpreted as my endorsement of every word he speaks.  If I criticize him [and other lefty talkers] while also criticizing conservative talkers, then I'm guilty of setting up false moral equivalents.

I guess I'll just post my honest opinions [which is all I've ever tried to do] and let others define me however thay wish.

Jer

Actually, ahusser...

Actually, ahusser....

I've heard much worse than this from both sides.   As far as "joking" goes, it certainly doesn't rank with Coulter's 'humorous' recounting of the ethical dilemma she faced when she had a "shot" [at assassinating] President Clinton (her audience erupted with applause and howls of laughter) and she concluded it wouldn't be a good career move.

Jer

Liberalism is just an

Liberalism is just an ever-changing amorphous set of policies that share one thing in common: power for the few, punishment for the many. Ed unwittingly reveals that by saying that it's wrong for one person to say something "extreme" (at least this is how liberals characterize it), but that it's ok for another person to say something twice as "extreme".

Liberals are never logical creatures. Death panels are in the bill, Ed. You know, that bill that you haven't yet read. A Holocaust will not result from not passing the bill. These are common and easily proved facts.

I think Orwell wrote in 1984 that a totalitarian government had no need of consistency, for the stars could be as near or far away as it suited the current purpose. Liberals have this same mentality.

Liberalism is simply tyranny.

Let's face it:  Schultz is

Let's face it:  Schultz is the biggest phony in media.  He's a career sportscaster who decided to chase the big bucks in national political talk (sound like any other MSNBCer we know), and changed his political stripes 'cause he knew he couldn't hack it competing with Rush (or Sean, Mark, etc.).

A "big-time" sportscaster in Fargo ND is all Ed will ever be. Think about it:  if every last person in the Fargo listening area tuned into Ed's sportscast, he might have had 180,000 listeners.  Rush's audience averages 20,000,000 and growing.  Now Ed's the littlest fish in a very big pond.  Nah, there's no envy in Ed at all.

"Beauty is only skin deep, but liberal's to the bone." - me

SPECIAL ED...

He is a phony, HockeyKid, & he really does'nt have enough intellectual firepower to back up his opinions. When you add that with his temper, it's a bad combonation.

He was involved in a bar fight involving a married couple back in the day. He was involved in something called "the whiskey bottle incident" while doing North Dakota State University football, during which he used several obscene words live, on-air. He also calls Dick Cheney "The Shooter", but he shot his own dog while hunting. He gets pissed when it is mentioned, but then again, he did shoot his dog.

Bottom line, "Big Eddie" is a dufus who lets his temper get the better of him way too often. He talks before giving thought as to what is being said, & I get the impression he might drink a little too much from time to time & has nobody with him to keep him out of trouble when he does. This might be something to keep an eye out for now that he's in New York. Bigger city, bigger trouble.

I hadn't heard about his dog.  Puts a whole new angle on Ed saying, "I won't shoot him in the face. I may hit him in the ass, but I won't get him in the face."

Apparently that means, "I'll TRY to shoot him in the face, but I'm not that good a shot."

BTW, how can Ed be a genuine leftie if he actually owns guns?  Now that he lives in NY, I'll bet he turns all Brady Bunch in short order.  Not that he really believes it, mind you--he just wants those ultra-lib radio ratings.  Just like Mario Cuomo got.

"Beauty is only skin deep, but liberal's to the bone." - me

HOCKEY KID...

Just do a search with something like "ed schultz shoots dog", & when you start snooping, you find chatrooms where people that know about him from his days in North Dakota & Northwest Minnesota talk about about various stories that have not been seen/heard by many outside that area. You also come across bits & pieces of info that don't paint a great image of the man.

As for Ed & guns(scary thought, huh?)I have listened to him from time to time, & he is actually a big 2nd Amendment guy. He is a hunter, & knowing that part of the country, that is not suprising. I just don't know if Ed understands or knows what Obama's thug buddies want to do with our guns, & if so, does he think he will be excluded from their anti-gun laws? So as far as I know, he's always been pro gun.

Liberals don't carry Library books into a fight...

Liberals don't carry Library books into a fight because that would require that they actually read and become informed about history.

Liberals are pushing for Socialism and Socialized Healthcare. Let's take a look at the known death toll brought on by Socialist Regimes:

1. The National Socialist Party, aka 'Nazis': 11-17 MILLION people. (including 6 million Jews)

2. Lenin- 4 MILLION

3. Stalin- 20 MILLION

4. Chairman Mao- 40-67 MILLION

5. Khmer Rouge- 1.65 MILLION

Really makes you excited about Socialized Healthcare doesn't it? It also gives you an idea of how much tinfoil must be in the hats of Liberals who dream of a Socialist America.

Going easy on Stalin

I could've sworn the number Stalin was closer to 50 million. He damned near starved everyone in the Ukraine to death and then some.

True, but consider that we

True, but consider that we still aren't really sure how many millions died from the Spanish Influenza.  I've heard estimates anywhere from 10 to 40 million.

Not really sure about the Nazi number...the typhus epidemic is virtually ignored as a factor, and a lot of those numbers came from...don't know where actually?  The Soviets?  Does that include bombings of work/concentration camps by the Allies? POW deaths included also?

As for Stalin, who knows?  Are they taking into account the starvation due to forced collectivization and the disastrous wheat genetics program under Trofim Lysenko?  Or merely Gulag numbers, in which case it would dwarf the Nazi death camp system.

We could also throw in the numbers of Indians who died on the Trail of Tears, reservations, epidemics, etc. plus millions more from various regimes around the world in just the last couple of centuries.

The point is well taken.  Government bureaucracies with absolute or too much power get lots of people killed.

Wasn't all that supposed to end when the kings, emperors, Kaisers and Czars were all eliminated?

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

It is only a Median...

Stalin probably killed way more, Chairman Mao as well.

Fulton
J. Sheen

Well, maryerin, the Nazis

Well, maryerin, the Nazis hated liberals, communists and Jews.  Hitler and Stalin waged one of the most brutal and bloody wars of extermination against the other in world history--which makes it difficult to calulate the respective death tolls.  But it does help to explain why Jews in this country have been for the most part liberal Democrats.

By the way, how many millions have died in the western democracies in the past half century as a result of socialized medicine--since virtually all of them have enacted some form of it?

How many millions do you expect to die in this country if it is enacted?

Jer

Trouble is, the only historical books they read tend to be those that share the same PC spin as their own.

All stats are a median number from counts from numerous sources.

Wars are listed seperately from the Socialist leaders and their death toll. The numbers are counts for which the government is directly responsible.

Ed, your Democrats did shoot Republicans!

It was called the Civil War, you asshole, and your Confederates wounded and killed hundreds of thousands of Republican-led troops after Democrats refused for more than 40 years to free slaves and then started stacking the Supreme Court to allow "black property" to be moved into non-slave states. It was called the Dred Scott decision. It's the same political maneuvering you filthy Democrats do today: it's called the War on Poverty. Overwhelmingly Protestant...just a note.

Very few of the southern soldiers ever benefitted from slavery.  A major reason they actually lost the war.

There was no reason for the vast majority of European immigrants to go to the South as the power structure had most of the land and resources locked up run mostly by slave labor...few factories for employment, not much land left up for grabs like up in, say, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, etc.

Similar in a way to what happened to Rome.  The incompetent Roman Senators controlled most of the land/slaves and it got to the point where they couldn't even feed their own people but depended upon extorting wheat from their province of Egypt.

Rather like ancient Socialism in a sense.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

RR GOP...Thanks tor the note.

Thanks for the note.

Actually, the major reason the South lost the war was the lack of ideological cohesion.  There was strong unionist sentiment in every southern state.  That and Jefferson Davis' disastrous loyalty to inept generals in the western theater.

Jer

why not the south?

There might be a simpler explanation for why most Europeans didn't go to the South -- one we tend to forget in contemporary times:  Most Europeans aren't equipped to handle what summer brings to the South (without air conditioning, anyway).

FWIW, making a stand against authoritarian attitudes in Washington these days could give Conservatives a whole new perspective on the Civil War and the South.  The wave of secessions and the onset of all-out war had more to do with the principle of state sovereignty than with the particular issue of slavery.  Few of those states were so anxious to bolt from the Union that any issue would have sufficed.  In the rest of the states, some men would have taken up arms against the feds; but the state itself wouldn't necessarily have seceded and gone to war.
