The New York Times reported on Wednesday that " Lawyers for President Obama are quietly drafting first-of-their kind guidelines barring workplace discrimination against transgender federal employees." Jim Rutenberg’s story on page A-15 followed one iron law to the letter: advocates for the "LGBT lobby" are not described anywhere as "liberal," but their opponents are routinely and repeatedly labeled "conservatives." Take this passage:
Though transgender men and women are not believed to make up more than a fraction of a percent of the federal work force, their inclusion in the discrimination guidelines is seen as a breakthrough by transgender and gay rights advocates.
"The president is making a very clear statement that transgender people won’t be discriminated against," said Mara Keisling, the executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, a group that has been talking with the White House about the new provisions.
The provisions will help give transgender workers avenues within the federal government to protest a job action as discriminatory, though Ms. Keisling added, "There is also a very important symbolic value to that, from our point of view."
The rules are almost certain to stoke criticism from cultural conservatives already displeased with Mr. Obama’s stand on gay rights, abortion and stem cell research.
While Keisling’s paragraph of liberal/libertine advocacy is in the fourth paragraph, the conservative advocates are avoided until paragraph 20, at the rear end of the story:
Conservative groups were cautiously pessimistic about the new guidelines, which have yet to be completed.
Focus on the Family, a conservative evangelical group, released a statement Tuesday night saying that the law already prohibited managers from taking any job action not directly related to job performance, "making this review an unnecessary political action to appease a special interest group embedded in the Obama administration."
The group also criticized the new policy as "government affirmation" of behavior it has defined as "one of many sexual sins that is outside God’s created intent and desire for us."
Notice Rutenberg redundantly employed the label "conservative" twice in two sentences. The text box in the middle of the story highlights the liberal side: "A new avenue for protesting work actions viewed as discriminatory." Viewed as discriminatory by? The "LGBT" lobby.

A bit of personal perspective
June 25, 2009 - 16:53 ET by BlondeMay be illuminative here.
Once upon a time, I ran a department, where I had to hire temporary workers. A new temp arrived, about 6'3", black woman, with a physique like an NFL linebacker. Extremely well groomed, and well dressed, and attractive. Good manners and good skills.
The pandemonium created was such that people from off-site were "dropping by".
It was horrible. For the good of the department, I had to ask the temp agency to not return this worker.
Human nature is human nature. What is disruptive in a business environment cannot be "accepted". Business is cold, it is hard, it is ruthless.
And yeah, the same thing happened in another department, with a little chippy who'd had Double E breast implants, and a penchant for tube tops. I have no idea what her "skill set" was....but she lasted exactly as long.
I'm as tolerant as the next person, except when it comes to doing my job.
I hope he fails, too.

June 26, 2009 - 18:03 ET by nwahsNoel, why does Blonde have the ability to edit my messages? This happened once before when I couldn't log onto my account after a disagreement with Blonde. Someone else was on my account. In the above message I posted "Did you ever find another job"
Now the message is edited, obviously by Blonde. Now I do care as I did take a dig at her. I am concerned that she has the capability to edit my messages. So Noel- what going on here? If staff gets angry with someone, they will change the content of messages?

Not so fast
June 26, 2009 - 18:35 ET by RukusI just saw your "what the hell" remark to blonde in a totally other post and wondered why you said it. Then I saw your post here and noticed you answered blone only about 5 minutes later, she then answered you back about 6 hours laters. I'd think your disputed post, if edited, would have been a lot later. I really don't think the mods would mess with your post. If they didn't like it they would probably just delete it. I think something else happened. blonde is a poster just like the rest of us.
I'm just sayin' this 'cause I noticed your other post on obviously the wrong thread. Weird, yes. I don't think blonde did anything shawn.

June 26, 2009 - 18:59 ET by nwahsBlonde is not a poster like you or I. She is a moderator and she abused her position. All she had to do was either ignore my crack, or come back with a crack of her own. Instead she decided to use her moderator powers to edit my post and attribute it to me. Thats inexcusable. She is not a poster like you are I. And she is not one to be trusted as a moderator.Delete my post, mark the post edited by moderator, but do not edit my post's content and attribute it to me.
Thats fraud.

I can understand the need for a moderator
June 26, 2009 - 19:14 ET by nwahsI can not understand how a moderator can edit a post and not mark the post as "edited by moderator." This is just not right. I mean its a stupid joke, but an egregious breech of trust. This has happened before during a disagreement I had with Blonde. Can NewsBusters possibly find a moderator that acts within their bounds even in disagreements? This aint right. I'm spitting tacks right now. I've been on the internet before there was even hypertext. I have NEVER, before now, had a moderator edit the content of my post and attribute it to me.

Blonde, I sincerely respect
June 26, 2009 - 15:03 ET by JasonCBlonde, I sincerely respect the position you were put in as the boss in this anecdote, as well as the difficult decision you had to make. Nonetheless, your story begs the question: Who was more at fault? The person who came to work dressed in the way in which she felt most comfortable and was, as you said, was "Extremely well groomed, and well dressed, and attractive [and had] good manners and good skills"? Or the people for whom a transgendered individual is such a freakish novelty that they spent more time trying to get a look at her in order to have a story for their friends than doing their own jobs? It sounds to me like those are the people to fire.
Indeed, there are many areas in the U.S. in which transgendered people are a relatively common sight and, as such, most people just don't care. I've seen them on a regular basis in every city I've lived in since I moved out of my parents' home at 18. Generally, if I saw a group of people pointing and gawking at a transgendered person, I felt safe in assuming those people were tourists.
An anecdote of my own. In college I was waiting tables at this little sidewalk bistro. Three guys started yelling at and hassling a M>F transgender. I mentioned it to the manager, and next thing I knew, he was telling the group to leave. It was pretty awesome.
I find your judgement
June 26, 2009 - 22:03 ET by nwahsWanting. But I also find your judgment on par with your moderating ethics - nonexistent. Did the woman, or victim of your judgment, have a physiological condition like gigantism? Did you care? Did you ask her? Your solution for gawkers is to fire the gawkee? What a stupid person you must be. Thank God they weren't gawking at her for having prosthetic limbs, eh?
The point of your story is to show what type of take charge manager you are, but all it shows is your idiocy, and your juvenile lack of empathy. Business is cold and ruthless, and lacks a brain. So do you - congrats!. You're basically a latch on wannabe. Leech like. Pleas wow us with more anecdotes of your business prowess, chickie. You can't even fake intelligent.
Edit this post, sweet pea.

June 26, 2009 - 18:42 ET by nwahsYou have no room to talk about anyone. A moderator that will use their position to edit a posters content and then attribute that content to the poster, is nothing but a fraud. You Blonde, are a fraud, and you shouldn't be a moderator of anything. You don't have the emotional maturity.

Well it seems with all the expense
June 26, 2009 - 19:24 ET by nwahsIt seems with the expense of creating a following, one would not jeopardize it by using a emotionally immature moderator. This is a fine board because of heated discussions. It doesn't need a moderator playing God for narcissistic reasons.

She is here to keep obscenity off the board, not play board God. Noel Shepard can ban you, and after asking about causes for banning people, he suggested in pm they take that very seriously, and it isn't done haphazardly or because of political ideology.
I'm not asking for much. I just want the post that was edited to note it was edited by the moderator. Thats a simple request that maintains the integrity of the board.

June 26, 2009 - 20:53 ET by nwahsThis is not a whine, this a potential security problem. Back in January when Blonde did this, I could not log onto my NewsBusters account. During that time, Blonde posted a response to me on *my* account. It looked like I was talking to myself. Well that response quickly vanished, and she reposted it on her account. Thats how I knew she had access to my account and not just editing powers over my posts. Now here's the problem. I have sent posts ( mainly to Noel and other NewsBusters officials) on my account that has personal information - phone numbers addresses etc. With Blonde accessing my account, she probably has this information.

Now I realize that all levels of government have been offering unoficial protection to lazy and incompetent workers but I think it's time for these beleagered workers be allowed to come 'out of the closet' and given fully codified legal protection so that they can hold their heads high and proclaim "I'm on break" and It's not my job".

June 25, 2009 - 20:56 ET by nadadhimmiHow can anyone take seriously a disturbed person that makes a concious decision to mutilate their own body in such a horrific manner? Without question, these trannies are mentally ill. Very mentally ill, and they expect me and others to validate their insanity, with the coercive force of law to force people to think as the perverts demand. They demand "tolerance" while simultaneously exerting brute force to end others people's right to their own opinion. One should expect no less from these insane, emotional and intellectual cripples.
Here's the problem
June 25, 2009 - 21:47 ET by nwahsSome children are born sexually ambiguous (anatomically), or intersex. Now most differentiate this physical condition from the identity issue. But I don't know if Obama is differentiating. Do you? Does Tim Graham? This is an important detail.
From: http://emedicine.med...
"While the techniques of surgical genital reconstruction have been
mastered, the understanding of the psychological and social
implications of gender assignment has shifted the paradigm away from
early reconstruction in some cases. This article focuses on newborn
evaluation and the differential diagnosis in children with intersex
conditions, including children with ambiguous genitalia."
This is part of what you are calling mutilation and what Tim Graham is representing with a picture that looks like a man in drag.

Maybe they should call it the Michael Jackson Law?
June 26, 2009 - 01:55 ET by RR GOPWonder if they still allow crosses to be worn in full view? Or do people that work for the Feds not believe in that stuff?
Strange that if you're a heterosexual male (and females technically, but c'mon now) and you show interest in a female coworker you're violating the law. The basis of these anti-harrassment laws are inherently sexual in nature.
But yet when dealing with homosexuals and trannies, the entire issue is sexual, that is their sexual preferences define who and what they are in society...but they get special protections...know what I mean?
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).
Sometimes I despair of the Right
June 26, 2009 - 03:38 ET by Zoe BrainLet's leave the mendacity and the exaggerations to the Moonbats, shall we?
Focus on the Family is "conservative" the way the Marxist-Leninist Socialist Collective is "liberal". They're somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan, and have been caught lying more often than Bill Clinton.
OK, not as often as Obama, but still...
What's their latest? That Pedophilia is a "legitimate sexual orientation" no matter how "sexual orientation" is defined by the APA, or in other legislation, so laws that stop gays being fired for being gay also give open slather to Catholic Priests and others?
As for Colonel Schroer, some weenie at the LOC decided that National Security wasn't nearly as important as "putting those people in their place". And was willing to pay however many of other people's taxdollars it took to shore up their beliefs.
Here's some correspondence from Dr Ecker, after he gave a presentation at the American Psychiatric Association annual conference:
The seminar was on "The Neurobiological Evidence for Transgenderism". And unlike fashionable leftist nonsense about Gender being a "social construct", this is stuff you can see in Autopsies and MRI scans. Male and Female brains, and hence minds, differ - and sometimes development in the womb goes wrong, and you get Intersex conditions, a body neither wholly male nor wholle female. When the brain is cross-gendered, you get a perfectly sane, healthy woman - landed with a male body. Or the reverse. Which is as unpleasant for the patient as it sounds.
But hey, they're only facts, so are of no use in arguing against Lefties, who are more concerned with "feelings" and "what should be" rather than "what is".
I despair though that many on the Right are going the same way.
