Keith Doesn't Lie, He's Merely Egomaniacal and Hysterical

Mickey Kaus has posted some liberals chatting privately at the secretive e-mail list JournoList. "This is not a parody! It's the real thing. I don't know whether or not it is representative." The topics were hatred for New Republic owner Marty Peretz, the craziness of Michael Savage, and how that compares to the blather of Keith Olbermann. Jesse Singal of Campus Progress tried a rather qualified defense of the King of MSNBC:

Everyone I know who likes Olbermann also acknowledge that he is egomaniacal and has a penchant for hysterical drama. The main difference, which is glaringly left out by anyone who conflates him with the Savages and O'Reillys of the world, is that Olbermann doesn't tend to, you know, lie about stuff regularly.

Katha Pollitt predictably judged Olbermann by how he treated Hillary:

Olbermann is funny sometimes but insufferable. He was really unfair during the primaries  — like calling Katie Couric the worst person in the world when she made some quite mild remark I think about sexism in the media (?).

This recalls some very humorous moments. Last June, Olbermann brought his "penchant for hysterical drama" to bear on Couric for attacking NBC's Lee Cowan as an Obama booster, as if (a) Katie Couric could lecture anyone about objectivity, and (b) Olbermann could defend Cowan's comments about his knees quaking in Obama's presence:

Speaking at a Washington luncheon in her honor, the CBS anchor saying, "However you feel about politics," or her politics, rather, "I feel that Senator Clinton received some of the most unfair hostile coverage I`ve ever seen." She added that sexism "contributed in part to the Senator's defeat."

A little Kool-Aid-ish, but her opinion and she`s entitled to it. What followed she was not entitled to. Couric referred to one, quote, "prominent member of the commentariat" who had said he found it hard to be objective when it came to Obama. "That's your job," she says. Then she suggested he "find another line of work."

....I probably saw literally 90 percent of Lee Cowan`s reporting in this campaign, and it was utterly objective and accurate. It is sad that Ms. Couric could not have emulated him and separated the hype from the news in her own promulgation of the nonsense that Senator Clinton was a victim of pronounced sexism.

Leftards

It's common knowledge that you cannot be rational and liberal at the same time. I suppose global warming isn't a lie.

 In other words he acts

In other words he acts like a spoiled, selfish  six year old. Keith tells the truth except when he lies.

There are four kinds of

There are four kinds of lies:

Outright lies

Lies by omission

Lies by half-truths

Lies by deception.

I have seen Olbermann lie using each type.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

One man's truth...

"Olbermann doesn't tend to, you know, lie about stuff regularly."

Right. Just once every weekday for an hour or so.

and Keith always has a nice

and Keith always has a nice orange glow.

I'm a refugee from the Democratic Party.

Well, as long as KO is an egomaniac who doesn't lie regularly...

. . .then he's really a stand-up type of guy, perfectly suited to be at least a cabinet member in the Obama administration, if no one of the "czars." Maybe of b***s*** and hype?

And that penchant for hysterical overinflating he does of whatever he says? Shoot, he could be a stand-in for his secular messiah, the current White House occupant.

That overinflation makes him exactly who I go to for fair and balanced reporting and commentary/

WRONG.

BTW: If he doesn't lie regularly, with what frequency does he? And how is the viewing public of his evening ego-orgy that's broadcast to know when he's telling the truth?

kg has it right...

kg's post is succinct and correct. I've seen Olbergoebbels show a film clip and spin it to his heart's desire. I switch over to Fox or maybe another network to see the ENTIRE film clip which of course negates everything Olbergoebbels just lied with using a partial truth...The man's show is disgusting. I used to think it was an act, but now realize he believes any means to his own ends are justified..I don't understand how people compare "Meltdown" with the O'reilly factor. The two shows are nothing alike. Maybe Bill can have a bit of ego, maybe I completely disagree with him at times, but he has quite a few laughs during his program. Olbergoebbels is pure hatred and vitriol 100% of the time. He's just an ugly person with an agenda and obviously low self-esteem issues to go along with it. The ultimate irony is that O'Reilly is the nightly object of his scorn and derision, and Olbergoebbels' show is wrapped completely around beating up on Bill with lies and distortions. No matter what the moonbat does, by the very nature of his show, he will always be in O'Reilly's shadow....He's a Soro's tool at best. Stop watching even two minutes of his drivel. I'm sure half his "audience" are right thinking people who are rubber necking to see the outrageous lies. Without them his ratings would be significantly lower than they already are. Edward R. Murrow my left cheek. Josef Goebbels more like it.......

Lie about things regularly?

Lie about things regularly? Boy talk about a Clintonism.

Just depends about what regularly means, doesn't it. Like a minimum of five times a half hour five days a week. But that's not 'regularly' is it. Olberjerk is a walking lie. And then to slander O'Reilley and others to divert attention away from Olberjerk, is even worse than his excusing Olberdork.

kg's post is succinct and

kg's post is succinct and correct.

True, but it is also equally applicable to O'Reilly.  There are some entertaining and enjoyable segments on The Factor.  That said, O'Reilly is a liar extraordinaire, a journalistic joke, a consummate spinner of facts--and, of course, [at least] one-time sexual deviant.

You really have to read the

You really have to read the hack posters to this "secret" lefty cabal website, to understand that THEY ARE ALL insufferable jerks passing judment on others with zero nuance.

My God, they just see everything in black and white.

It would be the worst circle of hell to be trapped in a room with drones like Alterman, Chiatt, et all.

Smug, crazy leftists so far up their own butts they can clean the back of their teech facing them.  And they all seem to hate each other as well.

It's TRULY SCARY to think that these ill-informed, self-important dopes may be able to influence people.

They're part of Chairman Maobama's civilian army with their little Red Books ... 60 million drones wide, 87 I.Q. deep.

I used to watch Olbermann

I also used to be a Dem, not sure what I am now. I stopped watching his goofy rants (with his intense orgasm face) when he lit into Hillary that day. I thought, "Who is this guy--a sportscaster? He doesn't speak for America."

He was and is a

He was and is a sportscaster, just a not very good one. I refuse to watch any foorball game pre-game show in which he participates. He is, in my estimation, a hysterical maniac. I'll bet he "regularly" beats the living shit out of his dog, too.

Dog? No way - he's

Dog? No way - he's definitely a cat man, probably Persians or those hairless monstrosities.

And I betcha he's got more than one.

Hey, I have a cat. I rescued her...

from the Animal Shelter.  Don't insult cat owners by calling that piece of crap a "cat man".  I expect an apology.  Thank you.  Jim Webster

P.S.  No complaints from me if you had called him a "rat man".

hairless monstrosities?

hairless monstrosities?

like this?

"Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend,------------inside a dog it's too dark to read"   ---Groucho

I agree on his being in O'Reilly's shadow

Whoever said that below was on the money. He is like a bratty kid whaling on a casually at-ease older brother who knows his chops. I would rather watch O'Reilly banter with his blonds (Fox employs MANY women, I notice) than anything Keithie does. I like the culture quizzes O'Reilly does, the revisiting of old shows, the occasional outrage real and pseudo, etc. Yes, he engaged in very idiotic behavior with an employee--but Keith has websites devoted to his being a bad date. I have decided I am not getting involved with either one except at 5 PM my time each evening when I watch Bill stop the spin. Sure, it has a spin of its own...but we are not idiots, we can take what is there for us and leave the rest.

To be fair...

MSNBC employs some women in key spots, too - for example, one is a re-animated mummy and the other one, well, frankly, I don't know how best to describe it.

Are you talking about...

the "boy girl"?  The mummy has to be that woman married to Alan Greenspan.  Can you imagine approaching her from the rear, then having her suddenly turn her head?  Brrrrr!  Nora O'Donnell is nice looking.  Too bad she ruins it when she opens her mouth.  Jim Webster

the way O'Reilly handles it really cracks me up

Bill's refusal to ever single it out or mention KO or his show by name on his program must drive Oblerdork crazy. Seriously, Keith would jump for joy if Bill suddenly took the bait and lashed out in anger, but he's smart enough not to. Rush does the same thing. I only remember Rush mentioning him by name once a couple years ago briefly.

I'm convinced that someday, Olberman is going to quit or be fired from his show. He's a nut case and you gotta figure that even the powers that be at MSLSD know that.

Olbermann is a typical Liberal. A typical...

Liberal accuses other people of what they are themselves.  For example, what knowledgeable and truthful person cannot say that Keith Olbermann easily qualifies as among the worst persons in the world and that most of the people he puts in that category do not belong.  Qestion.  Has he ever listed Bill Maher as a worst person in the world?  Jim Webster
