We laughed at a satire blog post at Interesting News Items sent to us yesterday about PBS superstation WGBH in Boston planning a four-hour Bill Ayers Christmas special. We especially loved the Cuba-mocking part. Perhaps it's a little sad that this is too realistic, but it's still funny:
The special, described by one source as "like spending the holiday being scolded by a scary man," initially seemed doomed. "The show was four hours long," said PBS spokesperson Tara Logan-Taylor. "And Professor Ayers wanted it shown without breaks." PBS balked, but at the last moment "it became financially possible, thanks to a grant from the Chubb Foundation." Filmed in Chicago, one Christmas party segment featured Ayers yelling through a megaphone at second graders for their "toy lust and greed when kids all over the world are being blown apart by a kill-crazed U.S. war machine."
Another segment showed Ayers, dressed as Santa Claus, handing youngsters gifts from Cuba: rope sandals (all in Men's size 9) and a coloring book describing how to inform on your parents. "It's a bit preachy," admitted Taylor-Logan, "but we're hoping viewers hang around for the action stuff, like when the Professor dynamites a Burger King."

This is sad
December 4, 2008 - 10:08 ET by Spinningplates2I like to make jokes but the fact that Bill Ayers is teaching at the University of Illinois and not in jail clouds my mind too much.
I'd only point out that
December 4, 2008 - 10:13 ET by HockeyKidI'd only point out that what Bill Ayers does is not teaching.

Unbiased review...
December 4, 2008 - 10:14 ET by Bob in TampaI especially liked the part where the sad and distraught Bill Ayers stands in front of the monitor showing the aftermath of the government and bank buildings blown up by the infamous "Chicago 7" radical liberals in the 60's. The background music, Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan, was a warm and thought-provoking addition to the overall scene. By the way, Bill was "sad and distraught" because he now proclaims that they "should have done more". Darn... don't you just hate it when things don't get downright ugly!</satire>

The Death of Public Television
December 4, 2008 - 11:07 ET by UtherpendI pity PBS if they actually run this farce.

Funny
December 4, 2008 - 11:34 ET by KC MulvilleLOL! That was funny. It must have been written by an Onion writer moonlighting for other websites.
If humor has any social value, it must be to skewer these PSIBs (pompous self-important blowhards) until they realize how ridiculous they come off. I can just picture Bill Ayers holding a megaphone, indoctrinating preschoolers on their right to dissent ... while the wide-eyed toddlers drool and ask Mommy why that scary man is yelling at them ... that's just hilarious.
