It's got to be incredibly frustrating for Republican voters to see that PBS, the taxpayer-funded television network, is so completely incapable of finding a balanced panel of analysts after a presidential debate. After the third debate, Jim Lehrer lined up this anti-McCain crew:
-- David Brooks, the increasingly fraudulent "conservative," who effusively praised Obama for being grand and calm "like a redwood forest," a "source of comfort," while McCain "seemed tight" and "hard to live with for four years," and who ended up the night announcing McCain would lose. (UPDATE: On Charlie Rose later, Brooks decided Obama was so cool he was "a mountain.")
-- Mark Shields, the liberal former Bobby Kennedy campaign aide, who obviously agreed about Obama's "eerie coolness."
-- Historian Michael Beschloss, a liberal who's written books with Clinton Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott, who trashed McCain for saying anything about Bill Ayers, which caused Lehrer to at least suggest that Bob Schieffer raised the subject.
-- Clarence Page, a liberal columnist for Obama's hometown Chicago Tribune, who's compared the GOP to the KKK, saying Obama was wise not to slam Sarah Palin since she's destroying herself.
-- Amy Walter, a former campaign manager for liberal Democrat Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, who said Sarah Palin has ruined her bump and is now "a real non-factor."
There was a brief interview with NPR's Scott Horsley and Don Gonyea about how the candidates they cover (McCain and Obama, respectively) did by their own measurements. Gonyea stresses that Obama gave "pretty clean, direct answers" on Ayers and ACORN, while Horsley at least took exception to Obama's claim that Ayers was a "centerpiece" of the McCain campaign. Horsley said it's not a major part of the stump speech -- because McCain's people know "it's not working."
David Brooks tried to be generous at the end and say the "landscape has been so biased against McCain." He meant the tide of events, and of course, as he mentioned, the tidal wave of Obama Cool. But it's quite clear that one uphill battle McCain continues to face is a completely biased taxpayer-funded network.

On another note, it is reported voter registration "descrepencies" could be as many as 200,000 voters in Ohio, a major battleground state. This could take months and lots of FBI investigation. Wholesale fraud should be met with wholesale fines and imprisonment.

Wed, 10/15/2008 - 23:38 ET by mostlymoderateOk, all Republican's need to rally support for an overhaul or extinguishment of PBS. This is BS. The fact that we are paying for this crap is beyond belief.
Yeah, that's gonna happen.

Gonyea is 'straight-up' lying: obama has never given a 'pretty clean, direct answer'.
David Brooks is a joke!
Wed, 10/15/2008 - 23:47 ET by Missouri ConservativeI love how these networks bring in people like David Brooks so they can say they are "balanced" due to his presence. He is clearly no conservative. He is about as milquetoast as they come.

Gosh I am glad I didn't
Thu, 10/16/2008 - 00:02 ET by bigtimerGosh I am glad I didn't think to click to PBS...I got angry enough with all the other networks, at least C-SPAN had a 2-1 phone line for McCain...they always have the so-called Independent line that all the lefties for the most part call in on...
when are we going to ever be able to stop funding PBS by force?
I know something like the 12th of Never in my lifetime anyway...
I used to see hope for that long ago and far away...

If you were to ask Jim
Thu, 10/16/2008 - 00:40 ET by TEIf you were to ask Jim Lehrer and the identically like-minded dupes who work for him about Lehrer's guests, all of those fools would insist that each of Lehrer's guests was a "dispassionate, fair, neutral, objective, down the middle, straight analyst with no axe to grind with either candidate." Lehrer is nearly as clueless as King Clueless himself, Charlie Rose.
What do you suggest we do?

Are we just playing "aint it awful" ? What do we do?
Maybe give my take on the debate? I think McCain lost also. I can't stop thinking about that scene in Karate Kid when Pat Morita asks the kid if he wants to learn Karate. The kid responds "Wha,,Idunno.."
Pat Morita sits him down and explains (if I remember right)"Walk down right side of road - ok, walk down left side of road- ok, Walk down middle of road- squished like bug. Want to learn Karate, yes- ok. Want to learn Karate, no - ok. Want to learn Karate, "Wha, Idunno" squished like bug.
Thats McCain. Middle of the road squished like bug. That is the problem with a bipartisan candidate. They are weak. If I was a cop and he was my partner, I'd have to be looking over my shoulder to make sure he was still there.
He let Obama off with only calling Ayers' *acts* despicable. He let Obama separate Ayers from his *acts* of terrorism. Why didn't McCain ask Obama if he separates Bin Laden from the despicable acts of 9-11. Why is Bin Laden despicable and Ayers isn't? Not enough deaths? Those questions are what separate someone with conviction from someone with "WhaIdunno"
If I'm ignorant on the subject
Thu, 10/16/2008 - 01:29 ET by sajc05I'll shut up, but are we now deciding who is a conservative and who isn't based on whether they agree with mcamnesty or bush?
David Brooks was a friend during the lead up to the war in Iraq, a war I now oppose cause i do not believe in borrowing money from china to fight offensive wars while your country in less than broke. But honestly I trust conservatives that do not agree with bush, conservatives that do not agree with mccain.
even michelle malkin agrees with me and other true conservative bloggers who say bush was never a conservative. even savage says it. we will lose this election to a socialist because americans are sick of republicans... not conservatives but republicans.
REPUBLICANS ARE: people who want to cut taxes, increase spending, and fight two offensive wars.
conservatives are not for that. if you believe in the iraq war so much then PAY FOR IT!!!
Mccain does not represent the conservative ideology. Obama represents the liberal side rather well and he'll win because a conservative is not running against him.
I've argued on this blog before about how bad our economy really is before the market plunged. we cannot print out money backed by nothing and lend it out at almost zero interest and not expect bubbles that break. And people here just dismissed me as a crazy liberal for not liking gov't spending run amuck.
I love newsbusters but i do not like Bush the spender of pretend money, and mccain the amnesty for everyone. and because so called conservatives have backed up their every move we now have a almost definite election of the socialist obama

The liberal media's tactic,
Thu, 10/16/2008 - 02:22 ET by Rush FanThe liberal media's tactic, of course, is to employ pseudo Republicans or conservatives in order to appear fair and balanced. Michael Smerconish, who appears regularly on MSNBC, calls himself a life-long Republican. Yet this is the same Michael Smerconish who said this past Monday on 'Race for the White House with David Gregory' when discussing some of the outcries at McCain’s rallies:
SMERCONISH: You know, it's hard to control the knuckleheads who will show up at an event on both sides of the aisle. You could say that the McCain campaign has fostered an environment where those folks feel comfortable in coming and shouting out things like, "Off with your head!"
This is the same Republican Michael Smerconish who writes frequently for the far-left Huffington Post and who wrote this article for the hard-left website Salon.com titled: Why this lifelong Republican may vote for Obama - The party of Bush and McCain outsourced the hunt for bin Laden, failing to accomplish a vital mission since 9/11.
Smerconish is perfect for MSNBC. By the way, Republican and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough is coming along just fine in his transformation to a RINO Republican spokesman. Scarborough, you will recall, aired a segment on his show called: "IS BUSH AN ‘IDIOT’?" Some Republicans, like Smerconish and Scarborough, will forgo their ethics in order to receive a paycheck from liberal networks such as MSNBC (the KOS network).

John McCain proudly stated during tonight's debate that he voted for Supreme Court Justices Breyer and Ginsburg. Sadly, this is our Republican nominee for President.
