As the veepstakes heats up along with the summer temperatures, columnist Robert Novak is reporting that Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is not the "moderate" that the media elite might suggest as she's considered by the Obama campaign as a potential running mate. She has run afoul of her local Catholic bishop for being a staunchly pro-abortion governor:
Last year, she vetoed a bill requiring explicit medical reasons for a late abortion, and she vetoed other abortion legislation in 2006, 2005 and 2003.
Those positions are necessary for Democratic politicians to pass their party's pro-choice litmus test, but Sebelius's connection with abortion is more intimate. She is allied with the aggressive Kansas branch of Planned Parenthood in a bitter struggle with antiabortion activist District Attorney Phill Kline. There is substantial evidence she has been involved in what pro-life advocates term "laundering" abortion industry money for distribution to Kansas Democrats. Kansas is the fiercest state battleground in the abortion wars, making Kathleen Sebelius the national pro-choice poster girl.
So will reporters see only "moderation" in her abortion alliances? Novak dug into the specifics:
Behind that facade, Sebelius sits at the apex of a complicated Kansas financing system involving the famous abortion provider George Tiller of Wichita. She controls Bluestem Fund PAC, which distributed money to Kansas Democratic candidates. Tiller, one of the few U.S. doctors still performing late-term abortions, contributed $120,000 in 2006 to the Democratic Governors Association, which has given $200,000 to Bluestem.
In 2006, Sebelius recruited Paul Morrison, then the Republican district attorney in Johnson County, to run as a Democrat against Republican Kline, who was seeking reelection as attorney general. Morrison, financed by Tiller's ProKanDo PAC, outspent Kline and swamped him at the polls. But Kline then replaced Morrison as district attorney in Johnson County and promptly filed 107 charges against Planned Parenthood, including allegations of "unlawful late-term abortions."
That triggered a ferocious legal battle during which Sebelius appointees, both judicial and executive, have sabotaged Kline's efforts, with the Kansas Supreme Court barring a key witness from testifying. The confrontation continues even though Morrison resigned after the revelation in December of a two-year affair. District Judge Stephen Six, whom Sebelius appointed attorney general, has joined the legal action against Kline that had been led by Morrison.
In her 2006 abortion veto statement, Sebelius declared: "My Catholic faith teaches me that life is sacred. Personally, I believe abortion is wrong." Yet, a year later, Sebelius invited Tiller and his staff to a party at the governor's mansion. She thanked Tiller for his generosity in helping to finance her election and Morrison's. Last May, Sebelius was featured at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Kansas City.
Sadly, reporters will probably suggest it's difficult to find any controversy in building your political career with a wildly controversial late-term abortionist.

In her 2006 abortion veto
May 26, 2008 - 08:56 ET by motherbeltIn her 2006 abortion veto statement, Sebelius declared: "My Catholic faith teaches me that life is sacred. Personally, I believe abortion is wrong." Yet, a year later, Sebelius invited Tiller and his staff to a party at the governor's mansion. She thanked Tiller for his generosity in helping to finance her election and Morrison's. What does all this say about Sibelius' principles?
She either has none, if she would accept and even welcome support and funding from "Tiller the Killer" and help raise money for PP, or she is lying when she says she says "Personally I believe abortion is wrong."
No Coal for Kansas
May 26, 2008 - 10:20 ET by allanfKathleen Sebelius is also known for denying permits for two new coal fueled electric power plants. There are only two cost effective means of electric power generation: coal or nuclear.
Solar power is currently nothing more than a chimera. Maximum monthly output for a system is on the order of 100 kwh a month, an amount suitable only for backf eeding the power grid. A wind turbine can produce much more power. General Electric produces a wind turbine rated at 3.6 Mw. But that maximum power output requires a 30mph wind. At a wind speed of 10mph the output of the same turbine would be well under 300kw.
Apparently Sebelius believes the power of government is enough to provide for Kansas's energy needs.
May God Have Mercy
May 26, 2008 - 10:24 ET by kilrodMay the Good Lord have Mercy on those folks who think taking an innocent life He created is ok; may God have Mercy on us all for it has been"legal" and "goverment subsidized" for 30 years or so, and we have done very little to save the life of the unborn. I am not educated other than 30+ years in the school of hard knocks, and i don't claim to be very smart tho thankfully the Good Lord has blessed me with a goodly amount of common sense and logic. I don't, for the life of me, understand how you can claim to beleive in God, claim to be a "Christian", and be a democrat and/or vote for a democrat. I beleive any time you vote democrat are support a democrat you are supporting the "killing" of the unborn kids that are aborted. How?? can anyone justify how we allow this to happen, and how did this "woman" get to be gov. of supposedly a very Christian state and can be considered a v.p. canidate by a lightweight like obama????How???

May 26, 2008 - 11:11 ET by kilrodAh, yes i do love mine enenies, tho it aint easy but Christ never said it would be easy. Gods Law stands in judgement, in place of "us", and Christ said he did'nt come to nullify the law, he came to justify the law, that not 1 jot nor 1 tittle be erased. It is for us to obey and uphold the "law".
We hear a lot about "hate", my philosophy is; If i truly hated someone i would seek to utterly destroy them, therefore i think the Nazi-Libs and dims often mistake "contempt" as hate. I have a t-shirt/bumpersticker slogan that says "Hey Nazi-Libs, You don't rate Hate, Contempt is the best You can do" Thanks C. A. for your reply,

I justify it with the fact that Osama hates my God.

Well;
May 26, 2008 - 15:15 ET by kilrodWell C.A., Praying for my enemies don't cost much and how much good it does them is between them and God. What really cost is protecting my family, my loved ones, my friends and neighbors, my countrymen, and my country from our enemies whether they be foreign or domestic. Now if ole Yosama ben Lama are whatever his name may be came up and said " I have accepted Christ and i repent and i'm sorry" i'd still have to search his heart and try his ways against the truth, and that takes time, in the meantime he would still have to face the music for his crimes, and if he was'nt willing to face the music i'd doubt his sincerety and he would have to face the music anyway. I wish Bush would've stayed behind his dead are alive statement and if we had to pursue bin ladin through Afganistan, Pakistan, Iran, Jihadistan and plumb to the gates of hell that would be fine, then if, at the gates of hell he still resisted God would'nt have far to kick him to his final restin place.
Meanwhile, the war goes on, and it is a war of huge and deadly consequences, and at the same time we are locked in a battle here at home with the dimocrats and nazi-libs, who aid and abet the islamic terrorist with almost every so-called solution they come up with. They(the dims) don't care about what happens to an unborn child if it is an inconveniance to them, and they don't care what happens to our troops and/or anyone who disagrees with them, because disagreein with em is an inconveniance to them and an insult to their self-perceived superiority.
Well, i reckon i tend to get a little longwinded so i''ll hush for now.

May 26, 2008 - 11:24 ET by expatriotKathleen Sebelius got elected in Kansas because there are two large Universities and three very liberal towns. KSU, KU, Kansas City Kansas, Topeka, and Wichita. The largest populations are in the cities and that is where the Dhimmi vote originates. The "Red" people are on the farms and in the small towns WORKING. The money is also in the cities so that is how she gets voted in. The Republicans don't run well because they are, well, republicans. Ryan got beat by a woman I know because he did not campaign and thought he was a shoo in. The Dhimms ran a campaign, slandered Ryan, and won the race.
As long as the Republicans keep up the good work we will see more seats go the the baby killers and the apologists for America.
She is a political prostitute
May 26, 2008 - 11:34 ET by expatriotKathleen Sebelius is a political prostitute. Not only has she sold out to the abortion lobby she has sold out her National Guard and the people of Kansas for her own self agrandisement. Not that I have strong feelings on this matter.
She was one of the first Governors to slam the Iraq war and President Bush when the tornados crossed the great plains states in May 6, 2007, I think. Too lazy to google right now. Any way she flies down on a National Guard helicopter and says that she has no National Guard soldiers to help because of the war. Funny enough there was a company plus or larger force already there and already cleaning up and assisting the community. By the way the community banded together and "got er done".
You cannot trust her and she would be Hills or worst as the VP. Please don't let her anywhere near the Whitehouse.
A short piece on what I am so poorly trying to convey:
"The poor response thing is just political BS," Greensburg resident Mike Swigart, 47, who lost his house and four vehicles from the storm, told wcbstv.com in an exclusive interview. "I saw her on television and I'm disappointed in that because she doesn't know what she's talking about."
After the storm dissipated, Swigart and his family came up to find just a small portion of the structure of their house remaining. Their cars were destroyed. People were crawling from a semi-truck that rolled onto his lawn. But Swigart said there was an almost immediate response from other towns, people who had lined up to try and provide rescue efforts. He said Sebelius' comment about the lack of Humvees was unfounded.
"You may have seen her on television when she said that, and she talked about Hummers, that we needed Hummers. There were Hummers sitting in front of my house every day. The National Guard was there," he said. "I saw people from all over who came right away to help and nobody sent them, they just came because they knew it was going to be big. The response was excellent, the rescue efforts were all night long, and I even made a comment to my wife later that night when we came back into our basement that I can't imagine anyone saying we had a poor response to this tragedy, that it was so quick and it was amazing."

Welcome to the machine
May 26, 2008 - 13:23 ET by acumenIncredibly relevant post related to much that is wrong with America along with exposing the brutal nastiness typical in dem politics.
Welcome to the machine:
She (Sebelius) controls Bluestem Fund PAC, which distributed money to Kansas Democratic candidates. Tiller, one of the few U.S. doctors still performing late-term abortions, contributed $120,000 in 2006 to the Democratic Governors Association, which has given $200,000 to Bluestem.
Sebelius declared: "My Catholic faith teaches me that life is sacred.
So the not-so-Catholic Sebelius wants to serve two masters? Creepy. Judas sold out God for much less and at least had some remnant of conscience remaining after the deed to throw the thirty pieces of silver back in the face of the high priest. What does that say about Sebelius?
For our left-leaning, demedia apologists that feel abortion is some sort of deseved woman's right I would remind them that conservatives believe that any right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for Americans is not limited to pregnant women. Other than the rare case of pregancy being a medical threat to the pregnant woman, the only person that dies in an abortion is the baby. Until that problem is rectified no self-described Christian that supports abortion, Catholic or otherwise, can consider themselves in union with Christ's teachings -- At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, " Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name recieves me...Woe to the world, because of things that cause sin! Such things must come, but woe to the one through whom they come!"
What are mockery or threats of relatives or fellow-citizens, or of mighty people, as compared with what you will all have from whichever place you may come, if you are able to come to the truth and life? Who would prefer to stay for one day at a feast that ends at sunset, instead of going to a place where he knew that a happy life was awaiting him? And yet many do that. And to become satiated for a short time with the insipid vain joys of the world, they give up where they would find true food, true health, true joy for ever, and without any fear of being deprived of it by hostile hatred.
Unless/until the media that enable politicans like Sebelius, satiated with vain joys of the world, humble themselves like children and wash their soul in the truth and life they will continue to be "the one through whom they come...it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
Sebelius Is The New Boss - Same As The Old Boss
May 26, 2008 - 20:32 ET by geoff.galeSorry to paraphrase from The Who like that, but as someone pointed out above, Sebelius is an example of the new breed of Demonrat - no soul and not above any political venture that will keep her in the public eye - just like the old breed of Demonrat (Ted Kennedy, Richard Daley, Coleman Young, Huey Long, etc.)
Her son made the papers a while back for selling a board game that he "invented", and I use the term very loosely, from the Governor's mansion in Kansas. If I recall, the game was called "Don't Drop the Soap" and was about getting yourself out of jail.
Sounds like the kind of family you'd want in you neighborhood, maybe as next door neighbors, right?

A POSSIBLE V-P PICK...
May 27, 2008 - 02:11 ET by danybhoyKansas Gov.Kathleen Sebelius is the person I think will get be the pick of Obama for the #2 spot. She is takes out the anti-women Hillary argument if picked. Why pick Hillary & her bagage if you can take another woman who has actually run a state. She can also be led around by the DNC bigwigs to do what they want her to do.
There were some major tornado activity in Greensburg, Kansas a year or two ago, & then said she could'nt get the Kansas National Guard out there in time because they were involved in an illegal war in Iraq. Howard Dean was reported to be involved in the backround telling her to do this to blame Iraq for hampering rescue & cleanup operations. The radio program that reported this were threatened by the DNC with legal action, & they said go ahead. The DNC never got back to them, which indicates that there may have been some truth to the report. Howard Dean & the DNC would not want this to come out in a court of law. On this site, go the 3rd row, & look under MOST BLOGGED, there are 3 links about this, I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU HAVE A LOOK AT THOSE 3 LINKS. They are very suggestive & informative...

...here is another link as well...
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/05/latest-on-kansas-tornado-conspiracy.html
...lots of stuff to look through, if picked, Sebelius must explain what happened, FULLY. If this means throwing Howard Dean overboard, I mean, would'nt you throw Howard Dean overboard if you had the chance? Even if he was on your team? YES I WOULD, & I would suggest that this story should not go away.

May 27, 2008 - 16:15 ET by kilrodI appreciate all the info posted here on that ole gal that is the Gov. of Kansas. If she does get the nod from O-Dumma, maybe it can be used against em. And maybe the people of Kansas will be able to dump her somehow. Sounds to me like she could be a canidate for a post-partem abortion, whups, that aint legal is it, well, if they ever do "open season" on polititions she'd sure be a trophy.!!
