Rachel Sklar at The Huffington Post's Eat the Press page certainly flies a flag for feminism. She frowns at anyone discussing Hillary's cackle or cleavage. In any socio-political squabble between a Katie Couric and a Mike Huckabee, she would clearly be in the Katie Corner. She certainly believes a woman can carry the burden of an evening newscast -- which might explain why she's angry at the latest leaked Couric behind-the-scenes video. How can Katie seem so blithely uninformed? Doesn't she know she's supposed to be bathing in an aura of gravitas? Sklar found the video unremarkable, until Couric typically proclaimed she was still clueless about one of the leading Republican presidential contenders:
Until this, that is: "I don't know much about Huckabee." I literally stopped and rewound. Again. "Okay tell me — I don't know much about Huckabee." She repeats. "Huckabee." Here's the point where I'm backtrackin, trying to fiugre out at what point it was possible to not know much about Huckabee. This video was recorded on January 8th. That's after the Iowa primary — which Huckabee won. That's after the floating cross ad which made headlines and airtime everywhere. That's after he was the where-did-he-come-from frontrunner about whom everyone was scrambling to catch up, and after everyone started catching up with all sorts of his old dirty laundry in the news. That's even after November — when she sat with Huckabee as part of her presidential candidate "Primary Questions" interview series. So how the hell can she not know much about Huckabee? I have no answer for that question that does not trouble me greatly about how much one of the nation's top three anchors actually knows about the freaking news.

Well, apparently Katie
January 16, 2008 - 12:03 ET by motherbeltWell, apparently Katie doesn't read much, beyond her own show prep.
Why should she? Doesn't the teleprompter tell her everything she needs to know?

I don't know anything about Huckabee, really, but it's more than my best friend knows, who would also say he knows nothing about him.
Sklar is a little overreactive.
There are also different
January 16, 2008 - 12:35 ET by motherbeltThere are also different "types" of not knowing much. I didn't read it as Katie meaning she hadn't heard of Huckabee, (which apparently is Sklar's gripe); just that she doesn't know much about his platform and his positions.
Hence my comment about not reading outside of her "show prep."

If not, take care where you put your comments...you posted it as a "reply" to mine, which addresses it to me. If you have a problem with something I said, please explain.

Liberals with an agenda that call themselves journalists. . .
January 16, 2008 - 12:39 ET by TheTruthIt is astonishing, a news anchor of one of the three major networks covering a primary and she doesn’t know anything about the Republican candidate that won the previous and first primary. Speaks volumes, how much does she get paid?
MSM: Arrogant intellectually dishonest LIBERALS teaching those stupid peasants how to vote by way of selective reporting, misinformation, propaganda, and out right lies.

Apparently not enough to hire a surrogate to do her reading for her, and tutor her while she's getting her makeup and hair done.
Sklar the mental retard calling Couric a mental retard
January 16, 2008 - 13:43 ET by Lame CherryI invested time in reading Sklar's comments this past summer before being banned..........and her comments during the debates by democrats were akin to a 5th grader.
Sklar is moronic in the truest sense of the word and for this frumper to be terming Couric a mental retard is the mirror calling the image an image.
Honestly, one would THINK liberals would be ashamed to be even listed on that HuffPo site as the bloggers there are uninformed and the blogettes commenting are like the dogs biting Jews in a concentration camp.
There is no intelligence and no humanity on HuffPo.

January 16, 2008 - 14:10 ET by CooperYou have to appreciate the in-roads she is making into the predominately male world of nightly news reporting though right?
I mean really, ditzes everywhere should be proud of her.
"clueless Katie" ......it has a rather nice alliteration doesn't it?
