The guest on Tuesday's episode of "The Colbert Report" was Will Smith, who had already expressed support for Barack
Obama on "The Today Show" earlier this week. Colbert joked that perhaps he wants Obama to win so he can play him in a movie. The fake news anchor then goes on to make a tasteless joke about John McCain. Here's the partial transcript:
STEPHEN COLBERT: As an actor wouldn't it be more of a challenge to play John McCain for you. That would be a stretch.WILL SMITH: That is a stretch. I can give that a shot.
STEPHEN COLBERT: That's Oscar territory because I don't know if you've heard him give speeches, he seems mentally challenged.
WILL SMITH: Yeah. You know how far that is from Oscar territory?

The Dud-factor
June 25, 2008 - 12:08 ET by sarcasmoOn ANY NB post whose subject is any show from Comedy Central remains high, as you've pointed out in your own special way. These almost make the countless NB posts about "The View" seem substantive...

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.
But a guy who doesn't know
June 25, 2008 - 11:59 ET by mattmBut a guy who doesn't know there's only 50 states, or who thinks he can see dead people in a crowd isn't mentally challenged???
Frankly I think both candidates are worthless. Obama's an unqualified neophyte who refuses to see any good in his own country, and McCain's a career big-government compromiser who would actually make a pretty good Democrat candidate, except for he's a bit on the manic side...
My only criticism of Colbert, and the MSM in general, re. this issue, is the fact that this kind of criticism is all one-sided.
I agree
June 25, 2008 - 12:02 ET by mbuelI completely agree with you on McCain. (see my comment below about Obama).
But look at it this way... come November when we pull the ballot, we have a gun in hand. We can either shoot ourselves in the foot, or we can blow our heads off. You can take a guess as to which candidate will cause which result. ;)
Has he heard Obama speak?
June 25, 2008 - 12:00 ET by mbuelOr do liberals overlook his foibles? Seriously, everytime Obama speaks off the cue card it sounds like he is mentally challenged.
1) Memorial Day Obama addressing dead people who "some of you who are out there in the audience today."
2) Obama trying to connect two thoughts together when speaking on healthcare but completely unable to do so, and then tells how a kid who has asthma needs to take a "breathalyzer" then corrects himself with "inhalator". (there is no such thing)
Bottom line is that when McCain and Glow-Bama debate, Glow-bama is gonna get schooled.
