Texas Governor Sounds Like A Candidate in Speech to Republican Gathering
A standing ovation and cries of “Run, Rick, Run” greeted Texas Gov. Rick Perry following his campaign-like speech to a gathering of conservatives in New Orleans on Saturday.
Addressing the Republican Leadership Conference, Perry wasted no time in criticizing the Obama administration for believing that government is the answer to every need and is most qualified to make essential decisions for individual Americans.
“That mix of arrogance and audacity that guides the Obama administration is an affront to every freedom loving American and a threat to every private sector job in this country.”
Perry mentioned the nation’s “entitlement culture,” the Founding Fathers, working people, Washington bureaucrats, and America’s energy and character.

I'm from TX... not sold on Perry

Too much like Bush. Appears conservative, but not really conservative. Yes jobs are much better here but that is because we stayed conservative relative to the other States. Yes he deserves credit for much of that restraint but still I think we need to cut much more & I can't say he would. So that sort of FELL in his lap with good timing & he did not screw it up. Good but NOT great.
He has the appearance of working with his own crony capitalists, like Dems are pros at, and I hate. Like the forced female teen Gardasil immunization for HPV Infection. There were safety concerns, it was forced & required, and you are unlikely to get the disease if you are follow abstinence till you are married. Then people here don't like him selling out public roadways & turning them into private tollways that are near permanent guaranteed profit centers for foreign investors. Providing affordable roads is a primary function of government. Toll roads cost is very high per mile with little incentive to keep costs down.
Then I saw him live in a debate (Denton TX) w/ KB Hutchinson & I thought he got his clock cleaned. Really seemed under prepared & not as good as KBH who is a way more liberal RINO. That was sad. I am sure he is polishing up but I just don't trust him. He is THE ESTABLISHMENT REP. He is saying what people want to hear. That is not hard to do. I trust Bachmann and Palin to be 10+ times truer to the Constitution.
Oh, then there is the ILLEGAL immigration issue. He complains but has not done much. May be sold out because there is a huge % Hispanic here. I think about 35%! He would likely follow Bush on this and have some deal many people would be against.
On the other hand, I think he would be fine with the right Congress and Senate to keep him in line. Not sure that is what we need now. We need a Paul Ryan type who will show true leadership down a faithful path back to Constitutional Government. Shut down ALL agencies that are just not needed and not Constitutional.

As I stated on another thread the Conservative vote is so watered down now that Romney is almost a shoe-in.
Then there is Trump!

If Trump runs as an Independent we will know he is an orchestrating traitor and a very good actor. Like the Trump birth certificate thing. Set up to make Obama look great when he showed it.

"Good but NOT great"

Have to take your word for it, Max, since I haven't been to Tx in a very long time.
Perry did say one thing that I wish some other candidates would start to recognize. He said that we don't need to waste our time hoping that the liberals will like us and want to cooperate in a bipartisan way with us.
The hate our guts, and right now they view Republicans as a bunch of wimps who don't have a clue how to brawl in a real fight. We need to forget "making nice" and kick the bastards right in the crotch while clawing their eyeballs out.
2012 is a death match, and we better begin to recognize it. Maybe Perry does. I don't know, but at least he articulates it. Must be that "whiskey for my men, and beer for my horses" attitude you Texans have.
So true Newsbubba!

That was a GREAT line. Yep he has that right! ? And that is 180 degrees from Bush appeasement. I am so tired of "them" not fighting back and failing to even attempt to show how wrong socialist progressives are. So on Perry, that is a good sign for sure.
Levin is great at saying it like it is and not holding back what people need to hear. Maybe Perry is listening in! If so, I am SURE he is learning a lot & may be growing up to be great vs. just a politician.

On the record

Did you by chance see the "On The Record" with Greta where Perry was on the show? It was when he was over in Edinburg by the border at one of the Texas Rangers stations(or DPS I think) where they had helicopters flying around and they were working on the border situation.
During one meeting they were having that was allowed to be filmed, you can tell Perry was deeply worried about the cartel situation especially with the reports about them being in San Antonio, Austin, DFW and other places. He was extremely frustrated about the Chairman being in El Paso saying that everything was ok and how the Chairman wanted to meet with Perry for a 10 minute meeting. Perry refused that as it didn't make sense to travel 400 miles for that, but later found out the Chairman was going to make an appearance in Austin, so tried to meet there. Chairman refused even though they were in the same city.
Perry gets that Texas is in a dangerous situation right now and that we're pretty much on our own from the Fed Gov't (our current enemy).
And yes, he has his faults. I don't question that. But I would take him over the Chairman ANY day of the week.

No I did not see it. I think this is it: (will watch)
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRqc_0Ol2iY&feature=related
Here is Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOVwWVo1FHA
I watched part 2 in the heli. Yes that was great. I feel better about him just from that. The fence will not work & I like that he explained why. We do need a legal way for them to come & work (not discussed in clip) so they won't be traipsing through desert to get here. He needs to can whoever talked him into that vaccine deal!
He sounds very genuine & honest vs. Obama.
Outrageous Obama did not meet w/Perry when in El Paso & Austin TX. Obama should be man enough to take the verbal beating due him. That is why he avoided Perry.

Those are the ones

Those are definitely the videos. I normally don't watch Greta's "On the Record" until I heard that Gov Perry was going to be on there, so I made it a point to watch, which was rare. Nothing against her, I just don't typically watch the night time programs on Fox News.
If nothing else, these videos should be watched to get an idea of how severe the situation is versus the rosy picture painted by the likes of the Chairman and his boy friday Nappy Janet.
This ATF fiasco is part of that which isn't directly mentioned, but you can see how it fits especially with the cartels in the various cities.
All of that crap ties together.

Watching video clip 1 now. HELI hog hunting - Amazing video!

Watching video clip 1 now. Sounds good so far. Like that he called SS a ponzi scheme. That is EXACTLY what it is by definition! OTHER people need to be "talked into" paying in for you to get paid back. Yet more people need to pay in for the 2nd level people to get paid. It does not help that 50M Americans were aborted.
Did you hear when he said TX got 20% of the guard but has 60% of the border?
Not addressed here, but I think the guard "rules of engagement" do not allow them to arrest or engage anyone. Just observing. Could be mistaken. Anyone know?
---OT: Feral porcine enforcement! ---
Wow! Gets like 8 hogs in a minute. Very HQ
video you can put on FULL screen! Killer action starting at 1:30 min! WOW!!!! http://www.vimeo.com/21181307
> This Texas feral hog shooting chopper video is fascinating. The pilot has a fixed rifle(sounds like a 270) with optics rigged back to his helmet and eye-piece. He doesn't miss and his scout-chopper flying skills are down pat with the hogs behavior and pack or group running style. This is a long run video but the hogs get it ! The pilot is really good !
