Furious Chris Matthews Explodes: Cory Booker 'Betrayed' and 'Sabotaged' Obama
A furious Chris Matthews on Monday railed against Cory Booker for his "betrayal" and "sabotage" of fellow Democrat Barack Obama. A bewildered Matthews couldn't understand why the Newark mayor would "trash" the President.
Howling over Booker's break from party loyalty, Matthews snarled, "... I think [this] was an act of sabotage. Whatever the intention was, [Booker] was trashing the entire Obama campaign of the summer." The Hardball host then played a clip of Obama "trying to defend himself against what looked like something like a betrayal." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]
Talking to liberals David Corn and Howard Fineman, Matthews attempted to deride Booker as some sort of heretic: "On comes Cory Booker, supposedly a surrogate for President Obama, comes on the show listed as a surrogate, points out he's got surrogate notes in his hand, said he's been working as a surrogate and then trashes the entire campaign..."
The cable anchor marveled at the "astounding" nature of the mayor's comments, ridiculously asserting, "I never saw anything like this that we saw on Meet the Press yesterday."
Of course, such things happen to the GOP all the time. In fact, MSNBC has a three hour show where Republicans are brought on to trash other Republicans. It's called Morning Joe. The only difference is that Matthews and other journalists applaud those acts of "betrayal."

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I want you to just hold while we watch the President now do this very intricate response to what the mayor of Newark said yesterday, which I think was an act of sabotage. Whatever the intention was, he was trashing the entire Obama campaign of the summer in one appearance on Meet the Press. Let's watch the President today trying to defend himself against what looked like something like a betrayal. Let's watch.
...
MATTHEWS: Let's recap here for our audience who didn't watch Meet the Press, David, before you come back here. I watched Meet the Press yesterday and I watched Cory Booker, a very impressive fellow with an incredible education, include Stanford behind him. And he went on television and basically said the President's entire campaign, which is to go after Bain Capital, to go after Mitt Romney, his presumed opponent in this election, attacking Romney for destroying jobs as head of Bain Capital. He said he was basically a job destroyer. They've been putting on one ad after another making this point. On comes Cory Booker, supposedly a surrogate for President Obama, comes on the show listed as a surrogate, points out he's got surrogate notes in his hand, said he's been working as a surrogate and then trashes the entire campaign by saying, "There's really nothing wrong with private capital. Nothing wrong with Bain Capital. I fire people. He fires people. So what? This is all good for American capitalism." It was an incredible 180 on everything the President stands for in this campaign. The President just went on and tried to deal with it right now. But, I'll tell you, it was astounding that they have listed this guy as a surrogate when he is intending to go on television and to trash everything Obama is making the case for. Now, your thoughts, David? I never saw anything like this that we saw on Meet the Press yesterday.

We all know what happened/is happening. Soon after Booker said this stuff, some muckety-muck from Obama's goon squad grabbed Booker by the ear and dragged him into an empty room. Then he pulled out a club with a heavy brass replica of Obama's head on the tip and started beating Booker all across the room. Only when Booker was weeping and begging for mercy on the floor did the Obama thug stop, and scream at him. 'You do NOT question your master's authority! You will repent and issue a retraction or you're a DEAD man!'
And Booker wept, pleading, 'Yes mastah, yes mastah, I do what you say! Don' beat this po' tired body!'
And here we are - with Booker's 'hostage' video retractions, no doubt filmed at direct gun point.

Isn't that so white of him?
Would Matthews say that of a white politician? "Tip O'Neill was an impressive fellow, incredible education, including ______________ . . ."? Of course not. That's taken for granted or not necessary. But there is paternalistic Matthews, buffing up the qualifications of the black guy, just so we know (1) Booker does have the creds and (2) Matthews is an enlightened man who knows and appreciates those creds.
And then Chris froths at the mouth (which is actually pretty easy for him to do—just breath heavily through the spittle) as he excoriates Booker for betrayal, exactly the same thing conservative black politicians are guilty of.

I grew up near Booker but never met him but have watched him over the years. He worked hard, graduated from college, went to work as an organizer without the usual attacks on the "man" and he often speaks how lucky he was to have a solid family background and loving parents who taught him the value of an education and set high expectations. When he moved to Newark and started out in politics he was attacked for not being authentically black enough to connect with "the people" by the corrupt Newark Democrat machine. They have worked against him at every turn
He is one of the hardest working, honest, generous and gutsy guys around. He did charge into a burning building to rescue a neighbor and along with the cops in his security detail and ended up pulling out one of the cops who ran in ahead and was injured as well. He gave all the credit for the rescue to the injured cop and the rest of his security detail and downplayed his role.
He has worked hard (16-18 hours a day, seven days a week) to attract business to Newark, lower taxes and improved services over the years. He is hated because he works well with Chris Christy on areas where they agree, won't bend over for the unions, won't blame Republicans for every thing wrong in the Newark's poor neighborhoods, demands parents take responsibility for raising their kids and is a blunt speaker. Yup the Dems hate sure have a lot of reasons to hate this guy.

However you want to describe the Obama campaign of 2008, it did work... McCain was out to lunch... The legacy media was in full suck mode... Democrats of all stripes were in lockstep... The voting public just wanted it to all go away... The campaign did work... Obama was elected...
Now, four years later, we have any number of wonderful changes... Every day we see and hear an unacceptably honest democrat (Mayor Booker) or an idiot democrat (Pow Wow Warren) or a just plain stupid democrat (Joe Biden) followed by the "professional damage control" freaks who try to explain it away...
I honestly do not think they have a clue what they look and sound like...

If we can get to election day with these clowns on the front page everyday for all to see, Romney just might come close to the electoral numbers of Reagan in 1984 or Nixon in 1972...

In this time of hyper-partisanship the Democrats will vote (D) and the Republicans will vote (R). That leaves only the Independents as the swing votes. I think that a difference of 10% is as close as we will see to a rout in this day and age.
More important than the popular vote will be the Electoral College. It is possible that we may see a margin of victory greater than Reagan had in his second election win.
And then we will hear the democrats whine and cry about how old-fashioned and out of date the electoral college is and how it "disenfranchises" voters, blah, blah, blah. They will push to abolish it and elect the president via direct popular vote. This must NEVER be allowed.

I was on another island over the weekend - with my son and grandson - so I'm just now catching up on the news, including this story. It seems to me that Booker made some common sense with his statements, and I even think that another 'black' mayor agreed with 'the substance' of what he said. Of course, this is going to drive the Leghumper AND Boy Baraka crazy that some 'upiity black Democrat' would DARE to 'speak TROOF to power'.......................especially them!!!
So I see that Axelgrease is in full damage-control mode, and that Booker is under some serious pressure from 'da man', and I also read that Boy Baraka has stated that going after Bain is legit, and part of the campaign strategy. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
So I'm thinkin' (Obamaspeak) to myself....................if going after these types of things that went on in the past - like Bain, and tying a dog to the roof, and harrassing a kid in high school..............................what, exactly, is wrong with going after ANY of the multitudes of bad history and negative facts in Boy Baraka's past (to say nothing of the same types of things in his present!!)?
He got a pass in the last election - from the StateRun Media as well as the spineless and gutless McCain Mutiny............so all of that TROOF that is out there about Boy Baraka is STILL waiting to be blown up across America - so that not only those of us who DID our homework can be reminded of it, but all of the morons, idiots, sheeple, brain-dead, and sound-bite followers can also be exposed to some 'dirt' (although it's TRUE DIRT!!!) about their hopeless, useless, and worthless piece of Kenyan Kow Krap poser/president.

I was mostly pleased with Cory Booker's comments on Meet the Press on Sunday. (I disagree with his negative mention of the Rev. Wright stuff, as I believe it's perfectly legitimate to question why Obama sat in the man's pews for two decades and never challenged his views until he was called out on the subject in 2008. And it's legitimate to ask how much BO agrees with the basic assumptions of the black liberation theology that served as the primary foundation for Wright's preaching.)
It's too bad Booker's caved in a bit after his fellow Democrats repeatedly hammered him for his (accurate) comments about Obama's ignorant rants against private equity. I would have far more respect for the mayor if he stood by his remarks and told his fellow Democrats to get stuffed.
As for Matthews...He's ticked because a fellow Democrat made the mistake of telling the truth instead of spewing the party's talking points on the Bain/private equity narrative. As usual, shame on Matthews for his blind-to-the-truth partisanship. Obama can count on this shill to come to his defense, regardless of how wrong Obama is on the subject being considered.
