While Trashing Newt, Liberal Joy Behar Vouches for 'Conservative Republican Joe Scarborough'

Liberal comedienne Joy Behar vouched for MSNBC-pleasing, GOP-bashing Joe Scarborough's credentials on Thursday, insisting he's a "conservative Republican." Behar did this as she slammed Newt Gingrich and wondered why more primary voters don't support Mitt Romney.

"Everybody knows [Gingrich is] a terrible person," Behar attacked. Citing her witness, she continued, "Joe Scarborough, who is a conservative Republican, says that Newt Gingrich is a bad person. I heard him say that." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Scarborough did, indeed, deride Gingrich as a "bad person" and a political loser. From Mediaite on December 2:

He is a bad person when it comes to demonizing opponents,” Scarborough continued. “When he puts on his political helmet he is a terrible person…Let me tell you something: the Republican establishment will never make peace with Newt Gingrich: they just won’t! They won’t: this is an important point. Because the Republicans I talk to say he cannot win the nomination at any cost: he will destroy the party. He will re-elect Barack Obama and we’ll be ruined. That’s going to happen. I mean Newt Gingrich would possibly win 100 electoral votes.”

On a side note, token "View" conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck offered an endorsement for Romney's candidacy, Thursday: "...I firmly believe that if there's somebody out there who could make things right, I do believe it's Romney."

A transcript of the exchange:

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: I tell you what, I love this ad, because it's true. And you know what? Originally, when I saw all the writings and pieces about it, saying it was going to be slamming Gingrich, saying, you know, he cheated on his wife, or went off with somebody else and got married.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Right.

HASSELBECK: It's actually a very positive ad and it's true. This is a man who's been consistent. His wife has been battling MS. Stood right by her side, continues to do so and I firmly believe that if there's somebody out there who could make things right, I do believe it's Romney. And I think a man who does all of that consistently-

JOY BEHAR: Obama has the same record.

GOLDBERG: Stuff we have- Stuff is not- I was going to say the same thing, you know, that Obama has the same record. He's been with the same women. He's been with the same church, which made everyone crazy at one time.

SHERRI SHEPHERD: got the same kids.

GOLDBERG: But, you know, he's got the same kids and really was born in the USA.

[ Applause]

BEHAR: But, Gingrich- Here's the thing, why does the Republican base hate Romney?

HASSELBECK: They don't.

BEHAR: He cannot get past 25 percent and Gingrich is now at 48 percent. Everybody knows he's a terrible person. I mean, I've heard Republicans-

SHERRI SHEPHERD: Well, apparently everybody doesn't.

HASSELBECK: This is temporary. I bet you this is temporary.

BEHAR: Yes, they do. They should. Joe Scarborough, who is a conservative Republican, says that Newt Gingrich is a bad person. I heard him say that.

HASSELBECK: That's temporary.

BEHAR: You know, wait a minute. His own sister. Gingrich's own sister is not going to vote for him. She's going to vote for Obama. I'm just saying. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

GOP

Submitted by kinijane on Thu, 12/08/2011 - 8:01pm.

Looks like everyone is scared of Newt. And how many of them out there bashing
him for being married more than once, has multiple marriages themselves? I
think the American people are more interested in who will best fix this country than
they are of how many marriages, what religion, and so forth. The GOP rhino's
better get on board or they may find themselves looking for another job. And it
appears the liberal media seems to want Romney for some reason, trying to
pump him up the same way they did McCain until he had the nomination.

Marriages

Submitted by djm159 on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 12:10pm.

It boggles my mind when I hear Joy Behar, Whoopie Goldberg and the other clowns on that show bashing Gingrich for being "married three times." Bill Clinton was married once, raped a woman, exposed himself to another woman, for which he paid $850,000 in a settlement, had an affair in the oval office with a woman who was closer in age to his daughter than to his wife, while his wife and daughter were upstairs in the living quarters, carried on a 12-year affair with Gennifer Flowers, propositioned Kathleen Willey, again in the oval office yet these pillars of society, knowledge and most of all BS on the View praise him as the messiah and he got off Scott free in the court of public opinion, and he had his hand on the nuclear button. How disingenuous can you be? Yet, not one Republican points that out to the self-aggrandized morons on the View. They just sit and take it. There is a comparison to be made and it is high time the Republicans developed a spine and grew a pair and made the comparison. Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain are saints compared to Slick Willy. That is what angers me with the GOP - no backbone, all dignity and servitude. As for Scarborough - when you watch him on TV, call in children to watch a real walking, talking RINO. It is quite a sight to see.

Talking about terrible, this ugly witch had her horrible show cancelled. Everybody knows that Joy is a loser, has a crippled mind and is so hideous she has to sneak up on a drinking fountain to get a drink.

Joe Behar

Submitted by Alpha Tango on Thu, 12/08/2011 - 9:38pm.

Joe Scarborough is just as liberal as Joy Behar. He never criticizes a liberal about anything.

Joe pretended to be conservative many years ago, but since joining MSNBC, he abandoned the lie. He is a liberal through and through.

Joy hates all conservatives

Submitted by Alpha Tango on Thu, 12/08/2011 - 11:01pm.

To add to my previous post:

Proof of Scarborough's liberalism is Joy Behar's endorsement. Behar hates all conservatives.

When Joy calls someone conservative and she claims she likes them, one of those things is a lie.

Behar once called Media Matters "non-partisan". That pretty much sums up her qualifications in labeling anything.

I'm going to miss this airhead! I wonder if the powers-that-be decided Joy Behar had to go because her intelligence is so laughably small that she's become an embarrassment to the agenda?

Come on busters... more important stuff going on..

Submitted by herc0 on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 3:26pm.

I really enjoy all the great work you do here and thank you. But to make Behar or that clown O'Donnell a story is really not worth it any more. There are soo many real stories out there that you guys could use this space for, like 'workplace violence' is the name the white house is using for the terrorist attack on our base by that Nidal guy...

You give her credibility she clearly does not deserve by even mentioning her when she is really nothing in the grand scheme of important items you can discuss here. And that you discuss so eloquently I might add. But move on from the entertainment clowns like Joy please...

You take away from your own credibility by even mentioning them. Everyone knows they are clowns by now. I don't mean for this to be a derogatory post either if by chance you read it.

NB's purpose

Submitted by MrShy on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 4:33pm.

Hey herc0, I also agree that there seems to be endless Joy coverage at NB (an over-saturation) but to report on the White House administration rephrasing things would not be reporting on "Liberal Media Bias", which is the purpose of NB.

Now if the media, to use a few examples, whitewashes/under-reports this news, doesn't report it at all, or supports the rephrasing, then it does become something NB-worthy.

Thanks for the reply-but...

Submitted by herc0 on Fri, 12/09/2011 - 4:46pm.

I don't see the View as liberal media. I see it as an entertainment program. That isn't to say I don't think they should ever post about things said on the view. But news would be if Hassleback went liberal on say Newt Gingrich if he came on the show. There is nothing to see when Joy does it because all that ever comes out of her mouth is junk anyway.

And thanks for the response! keep up the great work. We NEED your site!
