Moyers Blasts Chamber of Commerce, Insurance Industry

Bill Moyers and Michael Winship sure have something against health care insurance companies and the Chamber of Commerce. Moyers, the liberal host of PBS’s “Bill Moyers Journal,” and Winship, the show’s senior writer, slammed both for making money and lobbying in the March 12 Huffington Post article.

The article, “Ask the Chamber of Commerce: Why Is Too Much Not Enough?” was a long complaint about “the health care industry saying to hell with consumers and then hiking premium….” They continued whining and wrote, “This week, America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the health insurance industry's lobby, announced they'd be spending more than a million dollars on new television ads justifying their costs.”

It really should come as no surprise, however, that Moyers is against the health insurance industry because he has long been cheerleading for ObamaCare. In August, the Business & Media Institute reported Moyers declared that he wanted President Obama to fight universal health care because he’d rather see him lose than comprise.

Moyers has never bothered to keep his political positions quiet. During an episode of “Bill Moyers Journal” in February he showed clips of talk show hosts that doesn’t like, including Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity. He’s also compared Fox owner Rupert Murdoch to the Marquis de Sade, Imelda Marcos, and Satan.

Moyers and Winship also complained that the companies “put profits before patients.” They also called the health insurance industry “exploiters” because they have been rallying against so-called health care reform, which supposedly would subsidize them for covering those now uninsured.

Unfortunately Moyers and Winship are not alone in making the insurance companies out to look evil. A BMI study recently uncovered that after President Obama attacked insurance companies as way to garner support for health care reform, all three networks joined in. ABC, CBS, and NBC all featured segments where there was no voice for the insurance industry, while rallying against any insurance hikes.

Moyers and Winship also criticized members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce partially because their political action committee donates more money to Republican candidates. They called them, “Predators who prey together stick together” and an “elite organization of oligarchs.”

Companies being influential and profitable was terrible news to the pair. Moyers and Winship described how this must mean, “the sun sets on democracy.” And they even managed to close with, “the entire country is being mugged.” Share this
