A Week Late, NBC Nightly News Reports Obama's 'Punish Our Enemies' Crack
After a week of silence, NBC Nightly News finally mentioned that President Obama, in an interview with Univision Radio last Monday, October 25, encouraged Hispanic voters to not sit out the election, but say “we’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us.”
But correspondent Savannah Guthrie failed to see that as a divisive and unpresidential statement that had been burning up conservative talk radio for the past week, but merely as a “potential attack” that Obama was trying to “head off” by now “saying he should have used a different word.”
Tonight, the man who could be Speaker, John Boehner, is making his closing argument at a rally outside Cincinnati. The President today tried to head off one potential line of attack by Boehner, saying that he had been wrong to use the word "enemies" to describe political opponents in an interview the other day. Boehner's been hitting the President hard for that, saying, "You call us enemies, we call ourselves patriots." Well, the President said today, he should have used a different word other than "enemies.”
The broadcast networks’ failure to publicize Obama’s embarrassing statement reminds of the statement by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004 about a war funding bill that “I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.” That statement, made at an open press event on March 16, 2004, was not reported by some networks for several days, until Republicans made it an issue impossible to ignore.
Guthrie also repeated the liberal talking point that Republicans have enjoyed “a significant money advantage” over Democrats, with on-screen graphics proclaiming that the GOP had spent $206 million vs. $143 million for the Democrats.

But last week, The Politico and the Center for Responsive Politics blew that talking point out of the water, too.
Politico’s Jeanne Cummings in her October 26 item:
So far, the latest figures show that the Democratic Party machinery has outraised its Republican counterpart in this campaign cycle by almost $270 million. And even when outside spending on television advertising and direct mail is added to the mix, Republicans still haven’t closed the gap.
The money race totals come to $856 million for the Democratic committees and their aligned outside groups, compared to $677 for their Republican adversaries, based on figures compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics....
Here’s a transcript of part of Guthrie’s lead-off item for the November 1 NBC Nightly News:
SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Energized by the rise of the Tea Party movement, Republicans are on the brink of major gains likely to take control of the House of Representatives.
JOHN BOEHNER: Your government is out of control. Do you have to accept it?
CROWD: No!
GUTHRIE: Republicans hold a significant money advantage, too. The party and outside groups outspending Democrats and forcing them to defend seats in more places. But by far the most decisive factor, an enduring frustration with the economy.
POLITICAL ANALYST STU ROTHENBERG: This is about an American public that is dissatisfied with the lack of jobs, worried about the future of the country, and going to send a message about the President's performance.
GUTHRIE: Well, tonight, the man who could be Speaker, John Boehner, is making his closing argument at a rally outside Cincinnati. The President today tried to head off one potential line of attack by Boehner, saying that he had been wrong to use the word "enemies" to describe political opponents in an interview the other day. Boehner's been hitting the President hard for that, saying, "You call us enemies, we call ourselves patriots." Well, the President said today, he should have used a different word other than "enemies," Brian.

Why would you "think" that he "should have used a different word"? Perhaps he slipped and let his own words out without editing or conducting a poll and they were aggressive inciting words exposing the man. These are words not uttered in civil dialog.

As usual, a week late and a dollar short. If one watched only NBC or MSNBC, one must have no context for stories like these when they finally are mentioned. The liberals are left scratching their heads wondering where in tthe heck these stories came from. I know my liberal brother, an avid MSNBC watcher, isn't already aware of any liberal gaffes or mistakes when finally brought to his attention by someone else - like me. His usual sneering reply is, "Oh, where did you hear that, Fox News?". To which I reply, "Yes. If you watched them every once and awhile, you' might know about what's going on in the real world".

So all aboard for the American tour, and maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know, you may find it hard to get off.
It took a week?

It's been over a week since he said this and no one, in his White House, had a thought that he should take this back as soon as possible? The MSM and NBC didn't think this comment was significant enough to air? Of course not. I swear liberals have no respect for the office of the Presidency, although I will grant it's a lot more difficult, now that we have a man in the office who has no respect for it.
Personally, I hope Boehner makes the same statement and says he understands that President has said he could have used a different phrase like "opponent". Does anyone else feel this guy just doesn't have a clue?

Maybe it's not so much an 11th hour admission and an excuse as much as it is an election eve pep talk to remind his illegal alien buddies of their duty as good Obamanistas to head to the nearest ACORN office and get their voting instructions.
Keep your eyes open for fraud. These people are capable of anything in the pursuit of power. (I hope the GOP is prepared for a few legal battles after the election)

Our MSM is as useless as tits on a boar. What a waste of advertising money. Might as well advertise in dildo catalog's and get a return on investment.

I read somewhere this evening that Boy Blunder is trying to 'mitigate' or 're-calibrate' or 'redefine' his 'enemies' statement.........but I think the moronic dweeb is at his most honest (if that is EVEN possible!!!) when he is speaking from his own addled, brain-washed mind, and not from what his puppet-masters are telling him to say..................
He DOES consider US to be the 'enemy'!!!!! End of story!! LIght's out!! Anything else that he tries to say is just another blatent lie coming from his stupid purple lips................
NBC was just renewing the attack

NBC was just reporting this now in order to send the 'enemies' message to their Dem troops again. There was no retraction
Submitted by Edward Lee on Tue, 11/02/2010 - 9:50am.
The most noteworthy point to emphasize here is that he did not deny that he considers Republicans "enemies". There was no retraction. He only said he should have used a different word (presumably to avoid just such a backlash). Not mentioning what that other word should have been (unless I missed that; I have not seen the original quote), one is left to assume only that he didn't have a thesaurus handy when he wrote the speech.
After Republican take their seats in Congress, I do not foresee this particular president tacking right like Clinton. There will be two years of utter gridlock and vetos. He his much too ideologically polarized with his friends vs enemies mindset. His only executive experience is in rubber stamping bills passed by his friends in Congress.
He didn't take back the "enemy" quote

Here's the quote: from Reuters: " "I probably should have used the word 'opponents' instead of enemies." This reporter missed the "probably" word between "he" and "should".
Alinski and "enemies"
Submitted by tribchet on Tue, 11/02/2010 - 2:05pm.
The link between Saul Alinski (the "father of community organzing" and author of "Rules for Radicals") and Obama is undeniable. I lifted this from Wikipedia who quotes Alinski:
According to Alinsky, the main job of the organizer is to bait an opponent into reacting. "The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength."[2]
Notice the term "enemy" and the use of "opponent".
This is how Barack Obama thinks and always will. The idea that he is a uniter has been debunked by his own unguarded statements (as well as those statements from his wife, pastor and close associates) too many times to think otherwise. The Constitution always intended for the President to be a leader of all US citizens but Obama just doesn't get that concept. He is clearly the most partisan divisive 'fringe' US President in recent history. This is shameful!
And Sarah Palin supposedly "dumb"?
