IRS Scandal: Scarborough Angry at Gun Bill Opponents in April; Now Wonders If Feds Can Be Trusted With Background Checks

By P.J. Gladnick | May 17, 2013 | 15:46

A  A

Joe Scarborough is outraged, OUTRAGED, that any senator could have opposed the gun bill which went down to defeat.

Oops! That was a month ago and it now appears that Scarborough is having second thoughts on this since he wondered aloud today if the government could be trusted with performing background checks in the light of the revelations of the IRS scandal in which that agency targeted Tea Party and other conservative groups. First let us look at Scarborough in the video below the fold in full outrage mode in April when his over the top anger at the gun bill opponents was chronicled by NewsBusters' Executive Editor, Matt Sheffield.

No Escape: 'Serious' NYT Weiner Profile Includes Hilarious Joke

By P.J. Gladnick | April 10, 2013 | 13:31

A  A

There is just no escape from the Weiner jokes.

Apparently former congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, granted the New York Times Magazine a long interview with the intent of preparing the public for a new post-tweet exposure scandal campaign for public office, most likely for New York mayor. However, if Weiner  thought he could put the scandal, and the jokes, behind him he would be wrong. Although the extended profile of over 8300 words written by Jonathan Van Meter was mostly sympathetic, it just couldn't resist repeating an absolutely hilarious Weiner joke as told by former DNC chairman, Terry McAuliffe.

The Weiner joke is so funny that your humble correspondent is placing it below the fold so you have time to put down your drinks and spare soaking your screens and keyboards. Oh, and if there are any kids around, please tell them to step away since the joke is risqué. Very risqué:

Robert Redford Allowed to Promote Movie Glorifying Weathermen Killers on Morning Joe Sans Criticism

By P.J. Gladnick | April 04, 2013 | 12:16

A  A

Sheesh!

Talk about hyper hypocrisy!  Today on Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough slammed Quentin Taratino as a "pornographer of violence." Too bad Joe didn't have even a small fraction of such moral outrage yesterday when he and the Morning Joe crew allowed Robert Redford to ramble on and on promoting his new movie "The Company You Keep" which glorified Weathermen murderers.

Watch the video below the fold but the viewer will wonder at what point in Redford's long spiel that Scarborough or anyone else on his show challenges Redford on the fact that his movie gives sympathetic treatment to the murderers loosely based on the 1981 Brinks robbery by radicals who had previously been involved in Weathermen bombings. That robbery resulted in the murder of two police officers and a security guard. However, not a word of protest on Morning Joe about Redford being a "pornographer of violence" even those his movie gave a sympathetic portrayal of the killers.

CNN Correspondent Touts AR-15s for Wild Hog Hunting Then Wonders Why Hunters 'Need' Them

By P.J. Gladnick | March 28, 2013 | 21:01

A  A

One of the big talking points of liberal dogma is that hunters don't "need" to use AR-15 rifles for hunting. So what happens when a television correspondent praises the qualities of AR-15s for hunting wild hogs? He has to perform a bizarre sort of mea culpa by sidetracking the story a bit and asking a hog hunter if he really "needs" to use an AR-15.

Such was the case with CNN correspondent Victor Blackwell in his story about wild hog hunting on Anderson Cooper 360. First Blackwell reports on the damage caused by wild hogs to farms in Georgia as you can see in this video.

Venezuela: CNN Inadvertently Reveals Moonbat Militancy of Carter Center Director

By P.J. Gladnick | March 09, 2013 | 23:00

A  A

CNN has just performed a valuable public service by revealing that the director of the Americas Program at the (Jimmy) Carter Center, Jennifer McCoy, is a complete moonbat. And how did they do that? Simple. They merely quoted her.

Although McCoy is often cited in the MSM as some sort of expert on the subject of Venezuela such as in her recent USA column about the Chavez "legacy," her efforts to defend the Chavista thugs extends even to the point of completely misconstruing the opposition to vice president Nicolas Maduro's unconstitutional takeover of the presidency of that country. Here is how McCoy incorrectly describes that opposition:

Liberal Blogger Discovers Twitter Spambots Also Boosted The Ed Show and Morning Joe

By P.J. Gladnick | March 04, 2013 | 12:58

A  A

Confession: I yell at my TV while watching The Ed Show and Morning Joe because Twitter spambots are also boosting those programs.

Apparently the use of spambots to boost Rachel Maddow's show which was revealed here on Saturday now includes at least two other MSNBC programs: The Ed Show and Morning Joe. This revelation was made by liberal blogger Paul Bibeau at the Goblinbooks blog. First he establishes his liberal bonafides in no uncertain terms before presenting his Twitter spam case against those programs:

Misunderstood Irony: Yoani Sanchez Did NOT Ask for Release of Cuba Regime Spies

By P.J. Gladnick | February 21, 2013 | 13:17

A  A

Okay, Cuban dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez, who is now on a three month world tour, no more called for the release of  five spies for the Castro government than Rush Limbaugh actually purchased a can opener for his mother so she could eat dog food. Let me explain:

The Miami Herald reported that ironic comments by Sanchez, currently in Brazil, were misunderstood to mean she supported the release of five agents sent by Cuba to spy on anti-Castro groups in Miami:

60 Minutes Viewers Blast Swoon Journalist Kroft for Lovefest Interview of Obama and Hillary

By P.J. Gladnick | January 28, 2013 | 09:22

A  A

So who has cuter dimples? Swoon Journalist Steve Kroft or Mario Lopez?

It's a reasonable question to ask because the Extra host's interviews of celebs like Angelina and Brad couldn't have been any more of a puff piece than Kroft's starry-eyed interview of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday's 60 Minutes. A half hour of softballs were gently served up by Kroft who acted as if he were overjoyed to just bask in the glow of his interviewees who ate up almost all the time praising each other. Oh, there was the obligatory question that Kroft was almost required to ask about Benghazi but it was delivered in such a manner as to be easily deflected by Hillary before the interview returned to full empty calorie cotton candy mode.

Weekend at Hugo's: AP Misses That Chavez Decree Was Supposedly Signed in Caracas

By P.J. Gladnick | January 17, 2013 | 11:55

A  A

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead! But is Presidente Hugo Chavez of Venezuela still alive? In what might be a case of life imitating art, could the vice-president of Venezuela be attempting to replicate "Weekend At Bernie's?" To refresh your memory of that entertaining comedy movie, two young insurance executives are desperate to maintain the fiction that their boss, Bernie, is still alive at his beach house. The Venezuelan vice-president, Nicolas Maduro, is now ruling Venezuela in Hugo Chavez's absence especially since he was given the blessing as El Commandante's successor in December when we knew for sure that Chavez was still alive. However, the big question is if Chavez is still alive.

The Associated Press seems to think so based on their story that Chavez signed a decree naming a new Venezuelan foreign minister. However, the AP missed that the decree stated that it was signed on January 15 in Caracas (yellow highlight in photo below the fold) when we know that Chavez (or his body) has been in Cuba for weeks. Here is the AP report that failed to note this big descrepancy:

Journalists Refuse Yard Signs That Say 'This Home Is Proudly Gun Free'

By P.J. Gladnick | January 16, 2013 | 09:49

Being publicly identified as to whether or not you are a gun owner is fine for thee but not me.

That is the attitude of many newspaper editors and journalists  as was revealed in a video produced by Project Veritas. Here is the Project Veritas explanation of what happened:

Posing as "Citizens Against Senseless Violence," we visit the homes of journalists working for Westchester Journal News, MSNBC, and the Star-Ledger. We also visited the home of Eric Holder. None will take our signs that say "THIS HOME IS PROUDLY GUN FREE."

Was 'Hottest Year on Record' Based on Phony Data?

By P.J. Gladnick | January 08, 2013 | 23:33

A  A

Not Even Close: 2012 Was Hottest Ever in U.S.

So declared the New York Times in an article almost dripping with self-righteous jubilation. This sentiment was also echoed at the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Reuters, and many other media outlets. But could they all end up eating globally warmed crow?

According to Anthony Watts of Watts Up With That? that is exactly what they might be forced to do. The source upon which this  "Hottest Ever" story is based is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). According to Watts' intensive research, it appears that the NCDC has been keeping two sets of data: one for public (and gullible MSM) consumption and the other the actual stats. Here is what Watts discovered:

Desperate DUer Self-Deletion After Rush Reveals Tax Complaint Post

By P.J. Gladnick | January 06, 2013 | 15:37

A  A

Imagine the situation of poor DUer NCTraveler. He makes a post at the Democratic Underground complaining about the increase in 2013 taxes that now takes a bigger chunk out of his paycheck. No big deal he must have thought. Just another post among thousands. In fact, he probably forgot about the post by the next day...until Rush Limbaugh read it for all the world to hear and laugh at. Now panic sets in and NCTraveler, desperate to avoid more mockery, self-deletes his post so as to remove the "incriminating evidence" of his laughable absurdity.

Too late. Rush Limbaugh not only read out his post on the air but placed a transcript on his website of his comments along with NCTraveler's tax complaint which preserved it in EIB amber for all eternity. Here is what El Rushbo said:

Most DUers, Kossacks Supportive of Al Gorezeera Hypocrisy

By P.J. Gladnick | January 05, 2013 | 14:45

A  A

If you think that the DUers at the Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos Kossacks would be mostly outraged over the fact that Al Gore tried to avoid paying his "fair share" of taxes on the wealthy when he attempted to sell his low rated Current TV to Al Jazeera before the beginning of the year, then I have some carbon credits I would like to sell to you. In addition, "Mr. Environment" sold his Current TV to a network that is owned by the oil rich sheikdom of Qatar. So much for worrying about carbon emissions in the atmosphere but, hey, the good news is that Gore can now afford a bigger private jet with his chunk of the $500 million sale which amounts to $100 million.

Although some questions were raised in both forums about the propriety and attempted timing of the sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera, it was overwhelmed in expressions of support for St. Albert as you can see starting with this DU thread which begins on a note of refreshing skepticism: Al Gore, progressive leader one minute, wanting to cash in big time the next...

MSM Reports Hillary's 'Concussion' Excuse Without Slightest Hint of Skepticism

By P.J. Gladnick | December 17, 2012 | 11:55

A  A

The dog ate my homework.

Or, in the case of Hillary Clinton, a "concussion" which she didn't even have checked out at a hospital is keeping her from testifying about the Benghazi fiasco on Capitol Hill. Yes, we are expected to believe that a Secretary of State can suffer a concussion and not have it checked out at a hospital. Remember Natasha Richardson? That actress suffered what seemed to be a minor head injury while taking ski lessons and refused medical attention and passed away a couple of days later as a result. Various mainstream sources conveniently bought into Hillary's excuse for not testifying on Benghazi but the overwhelming majority of the readers commenting weren't buying it.

'Democratic Underground' Users Claim Steven Crowder Caused Michigan Union Violence

By P.J. Gladnick | December 12, 2012 | 18:04

Shame on Steven Crowder for brutally smashing his face down upon the tender closed fist of union member Tony Camargo.

Although the network news shows are carefully avoiding committing themselves to real journalism by not reporting on union violence in Michigan, those of us who have access to the censored news via the Web are well aware of what is actually happening. And in order to keep up the pretense that  the the unions are mere innocents in the drama unfolding in Michigan as you can see in this video of union thug Camargo throwing punches at Crowder, the DUers at the Democratic Underground have come up with excuses that are both bizarre and hilarious.

Reuters Thinks Going From 100% to 35% Tax Rate Will Be a Burden for Cubans

By P.J. Gladnick | November 29, 2012 | 09:16

A  A

Reuters somehow can't recognize a 100% tax rate even when it is right under their noses in their own article. Reporter Marc Frank apparently thinks that going to a 35% tax rate would somehow be more of a burden for Cubans than their current tax rate which is 100%. Frank even wrote about the 100% tax rate but absurdly didn't recognize the fact that total confiscation of revenue is the same thing:

Under the old system, large and small state-run companies, which accounted for more than 90 percent of economic activity, simply handed over all their revenues to the government, which then allocated resources to them.

In an article worthy of The Onion but published in all seriousness in Slate, writer Ron Rosenbaum plumbs the depths of absolute ridiculousness to explain his white meat racism theory. First he details why white meat is supposedly so horrible:

Alex Wagner Worships at the Holy Burmese Shrine of Her Beloved Barack

Not after you watch this worshipful video of MSNBC's Alex Wagner in which, among her other hallelujahs to her personal god who assumed earthly form in Burma, is this gem: “A man who is better at stagecraft than almost any leader in US history.” This is but one of several gushing praises of Obama which gives the impression that Wagner could be in dire need of some serious Barack cult deprogramming.

AP Claims That Obama 'Seems' to Be Leading in Key State Early Voting But Offers Scant Proof

By P.J. Gladnick | November 03, 2012 | 20:00

I have remembered how to seem. ---King George III in "The Madness of King George."

This is a tale of two stories. The first story was an article your humble correspondent read in today's Miami Herald. The news couldn't be better for Mitt Romney because it reported that the Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald poll of likely voters showed the former Massachusetts governor leading Barack Obama in Florida by a comfortable 51 to 45 margin. However in the same edition of the Miami Herald there is also an Associated Press story stating that Obama "seems" to be leading in early polls in key states. Based on what? Apparently based on pixie dust since virtually no real proof is offered.

First the Miami Herald report chock full of facts which shows Romney with a solid lead:

Michael Moore Produces Incredibly Vile Campaign Video for MoveOn.org

By P.J. Gladnick | October 29, 2012 | 21:15

A  A

Michael Moore has produced a campaign video for MoveOn.org so vile that he has to be considered guilty of elderly abuse for having the senior citizens say the words that Moore & Co. wrote in the script. The video supposedly takes place at Rosebud Nursing Home and the script calls for some of the residents there to use the foulest of language to express their anger at what is described is "Republican voter suppression." What this video really represents is an incredible anger on the part of the Left and how they won't be able to accept the election result if Romney wins.

The video is below the fold but be aware that there is a very strong language warning. I will only partially spell out the words actually spoken in the video:

AP Story on Demise of Newsweek Print Edition Skips Crucial Role Played by Jon Meacham

By P.J. Gladnick | October 19, 2012 | 12:37

The Associated Press published an article on the reasons for the demise of the print of edition of Newsweek but skipped any mention of the former editor of that magazine, Jon Meacham, who was instumental in ensuring its failure. It's the equivalent of publishing an article on the reasons why the Titanic sunk in which the word "iceberg" does not appear.

What Meacham did to destroy Newsweek was so absurd that he really deserves a plaque in the Bad Business Decisions Hall of Fame. Am I exaggerating? Here is Howard Kurtz at the Washington Post explaining the business "genius" of Jon Meacham in May 2009:

Universal Studios Orlando Turns Halloween Horror Nights Show Into Obama Campaign Rally

By P.J. Gladnick | October 10, 2012 | 21:33

A  A

What can be political about Halloween? Especially Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando. Well, guess what? Universal Studios in Orlando this year actually turned a Halloween Horror Nights show into what is obviously a not very subtle Obama campaign rally in which the Romney type candidate declares he lied in the debate and that he shoves grannies off the cliff. Think I'm kidding? Then read the words of Marla Knowles, a blogger at BIZPAC REVIEW, who went to Universal Studios last weekend and reported her unpleasant experience of Universal Studios pushing Obama propaganda and Romney slamming on their customers:

I went to Halloween Horror Nights last weekend and was shocked that Universal was using its amusement park as a political platform to reach the masses in favor of Obama and to slam Republican contender Mitt Romney in a show called “Bill and Ted’s Adventure.”

Was Andrew Sullivan's Hubris Over Election Destroyed by Gloat Gods?

By P.J. Gladnick | October 09, 2012 | 10:45

Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.

In ancient Greece hubris, the sense of exaggerated pride or self confidence, was considered to be such a deadly sin that artists and sculptors of that era were known to purposely leave small imperfections in their works so as to avoid the wrath of the gods. The latest victim of the mortal sin of hubris seems to be Andrew Sullivan. Just 13 days ago Sullivan was in full gloat mode in his Daily Beast column, Romney's Current 3.6 Percent Chance Of Winning. Today? Well, it's an entirely different story judging from the title of Sullivan's current column, Did Obama Just Throw The Entire Election Away?

Maureen Dowd Fantasy: 'President' Jed Bartlet Advises Obama to Call Romney a Liar in Next Debate

By P.J. Gladnick | October 07, 2012 | 12:40

A  A

One of the reasons why liberals were so shocked by President Obama's disastrous performance in last Wednesday's presidential debate is that it ran completely counter to what they expected based on one of their most important fictional experiences. And that fictional experience was when "President" Jed Bartlet wiped the floor of his Republican challenger Ritchie ("richie" get it?) during a "West Wing" debate episode. You can see Bartlet destroying Ritchie as completely scripted by Aaron Sorkin in his liberal fantasy below the fold.

Since that fictitious debate has served as a liberal reference point as to how debates between a Democrat and Republican contenders for the presidency are supposed to turn out in real life, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times has invoked the spirit of Jed Bartlet to advise Obama in preparation for the next debate. One can only conclude that Dowd must have accidentally ingested some magic mushrooms because her fantasy Jed Bartlet advises Obama to prepare for the next debate by resuming smoking, appear condescending, and calling Mitt Romney a liar.

Wild and Crazy Steve Martin in Bizarre Video Endorsement of Bob Kerrey

By P.J. Gladnick | October 06, 2012 | 09:19

A  A

Actor and comedian Steve Martin is a wild and crazy guy so it is no surprise that he would make a bizarre political endorsement. In this case the endorsement was for Bob Kerrey who is running for the senate seat from Nebraska. However, Steve Martin does not once mention Bob Kerrey or anything political in the "endorsement." Instead, Martin in the guise of a home crafts expert shows us how to make a wad of paper.

Your humble correspondent found the advice on how to make a wad of paper quite useful. In fact, for years I have struggled to achieve this but always fell short of my goal. But now thanks to Steve Martin's very informative video (below the not-paper fold) I can now expertly make the wad of paper of my dreams. The only downside to the video is the hand holding signs of support for Bob Kerrey that kept blocking my view.

DUers Explain Why Romney Won Debate: He Used Cheat Sheet

By P.J. Gladnick | October 05, 2012 | 15:36

You want to know the real reason why Mitt Romney won his debate with President Obama on Wednesday night? According to the DUers at the Democratic Underground it had nothing to do with his debate skills or the fact that Obama did a poor job of defending his record. Nope. If you believe the theory floating around the DU, it was all because Romney managed to sneak in a cheat sheet cleverly disguised as a handkerchief to the debate. They even have have their own version of a Zapruder film video which has been slowed down to "prove" their case.  Although there is not yet a Grassy Knoll for the Cheat Sheet theory, the DUers have provided some incredible comedy with a suggestion for a crime scene investigation as you can see in their thread, Did Romney bring cheat notes into the debate?

Here are some DU quotes from that new comedy show...CSI Debate:

Legal Insurrection: David Corn Claim that He Was Upfront About Romney Tape Gap Is Nonsense

By P.J. Gladnick | September 19, 2012 | 19:09

A  A

Once again, Professor William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection is doing the work the mainstream media should do but won't do. This morning your humble correspondent posted how Jacobson got David Corn to finally admit that there was a gap in the Romney tape after initially claiming that it was complete. However, now that Corn was forced to make that admission only after being pressed by Jacobson, he is now absurdly claiming that he was upfront about that tape gap from the start. Here is Corn's latest laughable claim:

Romney had pivoted from expressing his sentiments about the “47 percent” to discussing how to appeal to independents when the tape ended, and it was the “47 percent” description that were the focus of this clip. All the clips we posted, of course, were edited out of the longer video. They all needed to have start and end points. When we posted the complete tape, we stated there was a gap of one to two minutes, or less, according to the source. That seemed to be the appropriate time to do so. I will note that Romney, who clearly has thought about how to respond to this clip, has not said in the statements he has made since its release, “But then I went on to say….

Did Ghost of Rosemary Woods 'Accidentally' Erase Part of Romney Tape?

Jacobson of Legal Insurrection:

There is a gap in the recording immediately after Romney’s now famous discussion of the 47% of voters who don’t pay taxes. The cut in the audio and video comes while Romney is in mid-sentence, so we actually do not have the full audio of what Romney said on the subject.
