Reuters: Plame 'Ex-Spy'

The saying goes, if you tell a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it.

Such is the case with Valerie Plame. In reporting about Plame's setback in publishing her memoirs (a judge ruled she cannot include the dates of her employment with the CIA as they have not been declassified), Reuters says the following:

The ex-spy whose unmasking led to the conviction of Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide cannot disclose the dates she worked for the CIA because the details were never declassified, a federal judge has ruled.

The decision, made public on Friday by U.S. District Judge Barbara Jones, was a victory for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, which sought to block former agent Valerie Plame Wilson from including the dates in her upcoming memoir, "Fair Game."

Ex-spy? That brings to mind visions of the old Mad Magazine comic Spy vs. Spy, or exotic whispers of Mata Hari. But it's been established that Plame was not covert at the time that Robert Novak, via (as we now know) Richard Armitage, first mentioned Plame in one of his columns. Her own husband, Joseph Wilson, said as much when he appeared on CNN with Wolf Blitzer back in 2005:

WILSON: My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity.

BLITZER: But she hadn't been a clandestine officer for some time before that?

WILSON: That's not anything that I can talk about. And, indeed, I'll go back to what I said earlier, the CIA believed that a possible crime had been committed, and that's why they referred it to the Justice Department.

She was not a clandestine officer at the time that that article in "Vanity Fair" appeared. And I have every right to have the American public know who I am and not to have myself defined by those who would write the sorts of things that are coming out, being spewed out of the mouths of the RNC...

In fact, there was no violation of any laws concerning covert agents whatsoever. Which means that Plame was not "unmasked" as she had no cover to blow. She was, at that point, an analyst with a desk job, not risking her life undercover in Russia or the Middle East.

It's also the reason neither Richard Armitage nor Robert Novak were prosecuted. Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald had to make do with hooking a much smaller fish, Scooter Libby, for perjury.

Considering the circumstances surrounding her, er, ordeal, along with the book contract and attendent publicity (Vanity Fair, anyone?), one might think this was actually one of the best things to happen to Ms. Plame. Including news agencies that continue to glamorize her former post at the CIA.

Well, I'll be...

Valerie seems all choaked up and upset about her "outing" doesn't she? It's so important to her, that she wants to publish all the details of her still classified work to capitalize on her victimhood.

I'll wait for the movie...

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic

Alec as Joe

Someone mention the likeness of Alec Baldwin and Joe Wilson...seems like the role would be perfect for Alec.

Nahhhh.

I was thinking more like Leslie Neilsen.

That was me ... But on second thought ... What is Pee Wee Herman doing these days?

He's been appearing (not as

He's been appearing (not as Pee Wee) in assorted shows and movies, and supposedly a movie version of "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" is in the works.

Jon Lovitz would be more

Jon Lovitz would be more appropriate for playing the part of Joe Wilson. "Meet my wife.... Morgan Fairchild... yeah.. Morgan Fairchild.. that's the ticket. Super double secret agent Morgan Fairchild. Did I mention that she was a secret agent?"

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment
vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any
President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

:^ ))

By "Joe" ... I think we've got it!!!  He plays Wilson, Morgan Fairchild plays Val ... and the Wayan Brothers (of White Chicks and Scary Movie(s) fame) write, direct, produce and star in the thing!  Hell, I'd pay to see that!!!  :^ ))

Nailed it!

Nailed it!

Gee, Rooters reporting this

Gee, Rooters reporting this story with a pro-Plame bias?

I'm shocked! Shocked, I say!

Classified

I know it seems unfair to liberals but the handling of classified information is governed by Executive Order.  The President if he so chooses may modify and declassify at will or allow his aides to do so.

In this case, even if Plame's status had been classified the disclosure was inadvertent and tangential.

I think what's funny here

I think what's funny here is that they're referring to her as an "ex-spy".  From my understanding, she was not a covert operative.  They're trying to make her seem more important than she is, as to exaggerate the consequences of her name being leaked...and namely to try and come up with something else to use for impeachment.

Is it just me, or do you guys think that the Democrats would be calling for an impeachment regardless of who the President was, as long as he/she was a Republican?  To them, real life is a game.  I mean, don't take my word for it, listen to the representatives of their own party.  John Edwards thinks the war on terror is nothing more than a political slogan.  Hillary Clinton is a socialist power-monger that wants to redistribute wealth and...

I have better things to do than talk about these pustules.  Peace.

Time to go away, Val

What I've never understood about Valerie Plame is this: If she was harmed by having her "cover" blown, why isn't she in hiding? As far as I'm concerned, it's still not too late for Val and her obnoxious husband to go away forever.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Val Plame Playboy Centerfold

I was reading Alec Baldwin the other day demanding the prosecution of whoever outed Valerie Plame. Apparently he never read Novak stating it was Richard Armitage and Colin Powell.

Liberals seem to have that kind of lack of comprehension. Like Val Plame, here is an operative of the Clinton's whose sole purpose was to cover up that Clinton allowed France to refine weapon's grade Niger uranium for Saddam bribes. The DOD found 1.77 tons of the stuff.

When Cheney smelled the covert operation, Plame went into failsafe which was part two intended to create a Watergate for the Bush White House when Armitage let her name out and then was to be debriefed by Gonzales, which he said nada to.

So look at poor Val now. A woman pictured with President Clinton in a receiving line so every Chicom and Russian FSB agent in the world knew she was CIA stuck with what in life?

Plame failed in her mission and enough people like myself put the pieces together and are posting it about the Marc Rich, Saddam, French nuclear, Clinton, Plame bribes.

Plame was supposed to be an alternate deep throat in bringing down Bush to impeachment and is why Democrats have been chanting impeachment from day one. They were promised it and Plame failed them.

Plame instead of being Deep Throat ended up only getting a million dollar book deal payoff which ain't allot of money these days. Her cartel bosses have cut the tie which binds and she is finished in respectable circles as they view her a pariah.......the same circles who had her in presidential receiving lines.

Plame is married to the very dimwit Joe Wilson who did a fine job of "tarting up" and "whoring his wife" to whatever financial deal which would bring in a buck.

So Plame can't write a book, because the CIA which is now run by Americans knows she was part of a coup and has shut her down. She can't get a job as a payoff and all she can do is shut up or she will end up in prison. Hubster Joe Wilson can only get lame speaking engagements to buy beans and weiners for the pantry.

Plame's power life is over and think of being stuck with Joe Wilson spiraling down.

All she has left before she gets too frumper is a Playboy centerfold to earn some bucks and promote a book with bs in it.

Think of it Plame had visions of being the ultimate Deep Throat with Joe Wilson being Secretary of State, the adored ones to a new generation of Woodwardites .......and all she has is nothing.

Nothing but Joe Wilson tarting her up for Playboy. Life sucks when your best friends are liberals who promise it all and walk away leaving you with nothing in the bag.

Joe Wilson and Valerie

Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame are simply famous for being famous.  They're typical bureaucratic riff-raff elevated to undeserving "stardom" by the Democrats and their mouthpieces in the media.  Wilson and Plame are too dumb and self-absorbed to know that they are pawns whose fifteen minutes are up.  Can't wait for the book to be released.  The idiot publisher is going to have to pull one of those Jim Wright strong arm deals to move these works of fiction.  Then Plame and Wilson can slink back into anonymity where they belong.
