Comedienne Who Mocked Pearl Harbor Survivors Gets Pilot and Stand-up Special

What do you get if you're an actress/comedienne who mocks Pearl Harbor survivors on a nationally-televised New Year's Eve show?

If you're Natasha Leggero, you get a pilot for a new series and a stand-up special at Comedy Central.

For those that have forgotten, fifteen days ago, Leggero was on NBC's New Year's Eve special, and when host Carson Daly brought up the unfortunate tweet Campbell's sent out on Pearl Harbor Day concerning SpaghettiOs, she disgracefully said, “It sucks that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew.”

After the Drudge Report linked to NewsBusters' article on the subject, Leggero took a lot of heat for her offensive remark.

Unfortunately, she chose not to apologize writing at Tumblr days later, "I'm not sorry."

Now, with the incident likely still fresh in the minds of those who thought this was offensive, Deadline is reporting that Leggero is actually getting promoted by Comedy Central:

The comedian, who garnered a lot of attention with her wild set as a roaster at last year’s Comedy Central Roast Of James Franco, is a voice cast member of Comedy Central’s animated series Brickleberry and a recurring guest panelist on the network’s breakout new late-night show, @midnight. Now Comedy Central has greenlighted a scripted pilot starring and executive produced by Leggero and a stand-up special headlined by her.

The pilot, Another Period, hails from Ben Stiller’s Red Hour, with Drunk History co-creator/director Jeremy Konner directing. It was created by and stars Leggero and Riki Lindhome as Victorian-era heiresses....Leggero’s one-hour standup special will shoot in April at the Wilbur in Boston.

So, it appears at Comedy Central, if you offend the remaining survivors of Pearl Harbor - and not apologize for it - you get to create and star in a pilot for your own series AND get a one-hour stand-up special.

Makes complete sense, doesn't it?
