Jimmy Fallon and Ricky Gervais Joke About Pedophiles

NewsBusters reported earlier this month that a Gawker editor wrote an article advancing the absurd notion that pedophilia is a "sexual orientation."

On NBC's Late Night Wednesday, host Jimmy Fallon and guest Ricky Gervais actually spent two minutes joking about pedophiles (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary).

In the middle of a rather rambling interview, Gervais told Fallon that he's working on a new project with English television personality Karl Pilkington.

After Fallon showed a picture of what Pilkington looks like on the program, Gervais quipped that he's got "that pedophile look."

Fallon thought this was hysterical as did the studio audience.

"That's never been trendy," said Gervais. "Every haircut has come out, but no one's ever gone with, 'You know what? I'm going to do the pedophile look.'"

This once again brought Fallon close to tears. "That's never taken off," he replied.

"Talking about pedophiles," Gervais continued, "I just remembered this."

Gervais then told a story about a British newspaper a few years ago doing a number of reports about pedophiles. This ended up getting the public rather enraged about them, so much so that a pediatrician's office was burned down due to people not being able to discern the difference between "pediatrician" and "pedophile."

"Even if they thought it said 'pedophile,' who'd put a plaque up if they were a pedophile?" Gervais asked once again sending Fallon into hysterics.

When he regained his composure, Fallon quipped, "You have to announce to people, 'I'm a professional pedophile.'"

"'Just letting the kids know I'm in town,'" Gervais responded pretending to screw in a shingle.

"Yeah, you have to let people know you're in town," added Fallon.

Because, let's face it: pedophilia is just so funny.
