Katie Couric: 'We Have Not Heard Back From Palin's People' About Her Coming on My New Show

For those that have been sleeping or out of the country, Katie Couric has a new daytime talk show premiering next month.

Likely to no one's surprise, she told NBC Tonight Show host Jay Leno Wednesday, "We have extended an invitation to Governor Palin" to appear. "So far, we have not heard back from their people" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

JAY LENO, HOST: Hey, I want to ask you something. Now, this is, like, the first time in a long time you're not covering the presidential race. Do you miss that?

KATIE COURIC: I do a little bit.

LENO: Yeah.

COURIC: You know, I have to say, I read obviously, all about it, I read my Playbook from Politico, my friend Mike Allen every morning, and I'm very interested. But, you know, I am really happy that I got to cover the 2008 campaign, because it was so historic on so many different levels. But, yes, of course I miss doing the political news. But I'm going to hopefully have the candidates on, President Obama and Michelle, and also Governor Romney and Ann Romney on the show.

LENO: Well, how about Sarah Palin? Will you invite her?

COURIC: We have extended an invitation to Governor Palin as well. So far, we have not heard back from their people.

LENO: [Laughs] What does that mean? You have not heard back?

COURIC: Yeah, we have not heard back.

LENO: So, you haven’t gotten one way or the other?

COURIC: Yeah, no. But I mean, if she wanted to come on the show, I think she’s a really interesting person, and she’s welcome.

I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were Couric given the hit job she did on Palin in 2008.

This should be especially obvious given that the invitation was first reported on July 26 meaning that it's been out there for roughly a month without a response.

Of course, the former CBS Evening News anchor did win a "Special Achievement" award for that interview.

Funny how liberal media members applaud their colleagues whenever they take down a conservative.
