Hay, NewsBusters, speaking of drilling, you should drill the trackbacks into extinction! Most people, outside the site owners themselves, don;t care who's tracking NB articles. What's next, posting the hit counts of each page?

Lately the Spammers on my blog are not leaving comments, rather they're leaving trackbacks in the comments. Of course, I delete them all, but it is bloody annoying. Of late, there isn't even a common theme that I can use to filter them with.....like "handbags".
I loathe spammers....and I'm sure we'll be inundated on the Disqus comments shortly, too.

NB should put the tracking info at the bottom of the page, the VERY bottom of the page. That way we don't have to scroll so much to read the non-disqus comments, let alone post one of our own.

Weird, I was on my iPad and it all looked the same. Fired up the laptop and there are tons of Disqus comments at the top of the page. And a lot of them seem to be just a repeat of a Tweet put on Twitter by NB.

Yes, this transition is confusing. I can see what looks like regular old NB comments. But first I see these weird twitter posts that make no sense to me. The disqus comments are difficult to follow since it does not seem allow the old NB conversations and debate method of communicating. However long we are allowed this old way of posting is where I wll be hanging out.
It is difficult reading all the comments from old time regulars who may be leaving NB because of the changes. Cajun will be lonesome and se boude' ( pouting)

There is an electric bill that keeps the NB servers warm. Off loading all that to DISQUS is a big savings in labor as well.

Switching to disqus is the plan, as was announced several months ago. Is it a good plan? Probably not. It does free NB of having to police the threads. Disqus does that for them. Unfortunately, it also adds several more scripts to the site, (NoScript is reporting 9 of them on this page alone) and a few new trackers as well, as is reported by Ghostery. Sometimes it seems as if NB is trying to track me more than Homeland Security could ever hope to accomplish. :-)
At least they're not running MRC Radio broadcasts in the background any more. That got really annoying! If I remember correctly, that "experiment" lasted about three days.

There may be pressure to switch to DISQUS, the way 501(c)(3), events killed free speech in Churches, la de da irs seizure threats..
Makes the net wide open to a Selective internet kill switch. Oh good I can still pay taxes on line, however, I'm soo bummed that I can't post anywhere. Well what do you know....DISQUS is still off-line...
The NB post Format Matthew Sheffield set up here , is well in a nut shell not very green. However it's a unique format, it may be missed by the feds that are at the panel box, right now itching to flip some breakers. Brutal internet, economy of services. I'm sure that this statement isn't worth the nano-spec of bandwidth that it is written on, but I'm not impressed at all with this Disques, or Discs, or Diskes, or whatever it is, thing-a-ma-jig..................and if NB goes completely in this direction, it's 'aloha oe' from 'da killa', because I think it's a downgrade with regards to communication, writing skills, thought process, coherence, and the ability to carry on a conversation - and that doesn't even take into consideration all of the other bothersome things that I see people talking about. Of course, I'm a complete tecno-dummy, and I don't do ANY of that 'social networking' or tweeting or twitting or Your Face or My Face or anything of the sort, so allready I'm left out in the lurch.
