MSNBC: 'Gas Prices Down 47 Percent Since April and May'
Have your gas prices dropped in half in the past couple of months?
Well, the geniuses over at MSNBC believe they have, for in the middle of a segment about fuel costs on the Martin Bashir show Wednesday, a chyron boldly stated, "Gas Prices Down 47% Since April and May" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
As the segment began, Bashir said, "If you're one of the millions planning to take to the great American road this summer, you're in luck: the price of gas continues to fall."
A graph was shown depicting gas prices dropping from a national average of $3.92 per gallon in early April to today's $3.38:
A bit later in the segment, the following chyron appeared as Bashir spoke with his guests:
Actually, given the prices supplied, this represents a 14 percent drop since April.
For those thinking someone entered the percent sign rather than cents, prices have dropped 54 cents.
So, no matter how you slice it, this was just plain wrong.
But that's par for the course for this joke of a so-called "news network."

Actually, around here, gas has gone down about .41 cents/gal. But, it's early, and the Holiday weekends are right around the corner. And, of course, there's always the EPA and their "seasonal blends".

Gosh, gas down? I won't succumb to the possibility that Obama and his Saudi buddies have floated extra supply in order to get him re-elected, nor will I assume the other more obvious cause, that Obama has destroyed the economy and thus the non-market for anything took the prices down.
What I will do however is remind all those leftists who screamed that evil 'Big Oil' caused the prices to rise, therefore "altruistic big oil' must have kindly, and with compassion, allowed gas prices to go down.
You can't have it both ways lefties - if they control it, as you insist, then bow down in your deepest apologetic pose (watch how your dear leader does it) and do a dozen rapid-fire mea culpas

Ahhhh, everybody here is NOT approaching this from the point of view that it was presented!!! If gas was $4.00/gal in April, and now it's $3.50/gal............then somewhere between then and now it was around $3.75/gal, which is around a 47% drop - as mathematically equated between the $4/gal, and the $3.50/gal!!! And that sounds a HELLUVA lot better than 14%, plus it's provable - given the way it was reported!!!

Yeah, strat, who knows what the 'formula' was on this...........and the Basher - aside from being one of the dumbest AND most opinionated interloper 'news casters' (any relation to a 'plaster caster'???) in the StateRun Media - is also probably the ugliest, and that's against some competition!!!
Maybe it's down 47% from what the environmental whackos THINK it should be!!! Regarless - it's still $4.78/gal over here on my little island in Asia - I can't even remember when it was under $4 - maybe about the time of the last election. And I AM talkin' about 'regular' gas, too.
I saw a couple cameras the other day when we were playin', but I don't keep up with that - I've never seen a KORE video anyway. But we WERE rippin' it up the other day, I have to say. Some great stuff was laid down...........and we even had some autistic kids singin' along, and one really 'damaged' kid in a wheelchair was totally animated - which is a heartening sight - his mother even waved his had to us when they had to leave..............'say bye-bye to the musicians'!!!

Wow, strat - mahalo and thanks a lot!!! I've never seen any of that!!! The sound quality isn't very good, but it doesn't matter.
You can see the scene we have there - right on the beach, next to the river, with the ocean and mountains in the background.
Ahhhhhhh.........I don't think we gave any thought to the 'Cripple Creek' title - that was just a few days after Levon Helm had died, and we were just trying to jam some kind of tribute to him - I knew the songs, but not too many words, but my friend Pancho knew most of them. Plus, we did 'The Weight', which came out very well.
Did you see that kid in the wheelchair?? He's in really bad shape, but he loves the music. And the other day, when we were doing Wilson Pickett's ''99 1/2", he was movin' and groovin'!!!
Pancho always plays in an 'open' tuning. Alan - the guy next to me who is usually wearing a black shirt - stays down on the fingerboard in 'Spanish' tuning - he's very good and a great singer too. The other guy, Tony, is sort of a jazz guitarist, so he does a lot of background stuff. So that leaves me to fill the middle - and the other guys (except Pancho) will NOT touch a capo (they can't figure out the equation when we are jamming!!!), so I often play with a capo, just to get another sound out there. The sax player - Chuck - knows a bunch of standards, and then we make him jam with whatever we're doing. The harp player is a KORE participant, but since we put him in 'the band', he just likes to blow - which pisses his wife off!!!
I wonder if there's any video from last week - I thought we did some pretty good stuff..........for a bunch of has-been beach posers!!!
