Pretty much a ho hum sports
Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 11:07am.
Pretty much a ho hum sports weekend unless you like hockey or thug ball. The road to the college series has started with the regionals. I'll watch some of that. Interested to see if South Carolina can make it 3 in a row. I've got a 20 year old austic nephew that lives in Lexington, SC. He loves anything Gamecocks, Can't understand why. He will be at the games in Columbia come hell or high water.
NASCAR at Dover. I'll watch the start and the end. I DVRed the Hatfields and McCoys just for tomorrow.
Not much to talk about sports wise so I'll get back to my politics.
Beautiful Carolina Blue sky. Temps in the upper 70's low 80's. The wife is going to the beach on Camp Lejeune with the grandkids so I have it pretty much to myself.

I am sure the Tarheels can get through to the next round. No sure at the Wusspack.
LSU had great season but seemed to falter there near the end. I hadn't heard much about SC or FL until the SEC tournament.
Going to my granddaughter's Christening tomorrow.

My three year old granddaughter is being Christened tomorrow. Will be a very special event, because she has finally recovered from a series of surgeries on her lungs and heart. She chose her own baptismal name and Mrs. Sam and I bought her a beautiful little gold cross pendant for the event. I get to play the proud grandpa again--a role that never gets old!
Congratulations!

Enjoy it. Before you know it she will be graduating from HS. My grandson graduated from HS last week. Seems like only yesterday when I went to the hospital to meet him for the first time.
Congratulations!

Wow, Dave - that's heavy!!! And, as you said, 'unbelievable'..............but it seems that 'unbelievable' continues to become
'believable' more and more these days, in so many different aspects of our society.
This story, unfortunatly, won't get much airplay - the guy was white, an ex-military man, and a successful private citizen. That'll get him no respect or sympathy in this era of 'unbelievablity'...........

Submitted by Scuba Dude on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 2:23pm.
The Space Shuttle Enterprise is going to be making its final trip soon. I am looking to cycle up to Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island which has a wonderful view of the Verrazano-Narrows bridge and take video and pictures of the shuttle going under the bridge and into the harbor.
A few years ago I was on the bus heading over the Verrazano heading into work when I looked out and saw the Concorde being barged to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. Sadly I did not have a camera on me so the only image I have is the one in my mind.
Not going to happen this time (unless the weather turns fugly). :-)

Our local newspaper, the New Bern Sun Journal, along with all the other Freedom Communications papers in NC and FL have been sold to Halifax Media. Does anyone know anything about Halifax Media? The Freedom papers have been libertarian in their editorials. I don't know if that will carry on. I know that people are no going to put up with a liberal rag in the towns where Freedom now owns papers in NC.

If it's the same deal as ours, some Warren Buffet company has bought all the small, weekly papers in Southwest Virginia. They were already owned by another group. When I said hometown I acctualy grew up in a small town south of there. It was the only daily in the county. Newton had one published on Mon, Wed, and Fri. The edtiroial content of both were very conservative.

Elizabeth Warren was caught flipping—NOT flip-flopping—by the Boston Herald. And just what was she flipping? Not her wig, or Scott Brown off.
No. Back in Oklahoma CIty in the 90s, she flipped houses, buying foreclosed homes and selling them in short order for big profits. And she nepotinized it too, lending money to relatives for them to do the same.
Read it and grin:

They gather in secret to plan our lives for us. They do this all with a veil of protection provided by the Department of Justice and the presidency. The people's congress is fast asleep while the movers and shakers of high finance, media, political heavy weights hob nob a stone's throw away from the nation's capital.
"Oh, don't listen to those conspiracists" goes the neo and liberal conned chorus. "My, my there is nothing to see here. There's no news to bust in Cantilly, so why even mention that the world's power brokers have gathered at another yearly Bilderberg Conference," goes the refrain. "Yawn, yawn." And who is it that lectures us about Neville Chamberlain? That one went over your head, huh?
But they are there, or here, in Chantilly, Virginia. They gather each year for the elite Bilderberg conference this weekend. The growing number of activists from across the political spectrum are arguing that U.S. citizens attending the secret meeting committing a felony by violating the Logan Act.
"The Logan what?"
At the Bilderberg confab will be media magnates, titans of industry, top bankers, influential politicians, royalty and nobility, prominent academics, military and “intelligence” chieftains, and many other members of the so-called “global elite,” claims this website:

Who do you know is on the guest list? The names will be omitted to protect the guilty. But bilderbergist tell us that 50 Americans will attend and they are all very influential. Europe will have representation and China too.
But, hey, if News Busters doesn't see a story here who am I to bust a nut trying to get them to send a reporter over to Chantilly to see if they'll let the NB reporter in to see what the fuss is all about.

Of course, his self-aggrandizing pre-emption of The Memorial prevented thousands of people who had a real reason to be there from commemorating their friends and loved ones. All for the sake of a photo op.

The money quote was from the head of PP in La and she states......."Doctors, not politicians, should be deciding women's health issues'.....
