If 71% of the top companies stopped providing employee health care and pay the associated fines, the estimated savings is just under $29 billion.
In essence, it would be cheaper to pay the fines and allow employees to buy their own coverage (perhaps with some kind of increase in salary or an allowance of some kind).
For those of you employed by a large corporation, this takes away one of the key benefits of working for a large organization as they are often able to offer decreased co-pays and out-of-pocket maximums because the power they have with such a large group purchasing from a single source, The inevitable result will be more money out of the employee's pocket in premiums, copays, deductibles, out of pocket maximums and decreased benefit levels in such critical areas as prescription drug coverage and specialty pharmaceuticals like biological products (Enbrel, Humira, etc.) for autoinflammatory diseases and blood derivatives for hemophiliacs.

I got to thinking about the story on Ted Nugent. The fools at CBS have no clue what the man does. He tried to tell them only to have it fall on deaf ears.
Several years the Make a Wish Foundation stopped granting hunting and fishing trips for kids with terminal illnesses. In stepped a group called Catch A Dream Foundation. They fulfill the wishes of a kid that is dying if they want to go after that big buck or big bass. Ted Nugent is a huge part of this. He also works with a foundation that helps our wounded warroirs do the same thing. I bet none of the fools on CBS have any idea on how to bait a hook or scout for deer. Uncle Ted is not extreme he is very passonate about the kids and the wounded warriors.

In this season of political electioneering, I am, for some reason, reminded of a joke I heard long ago:
A charter plane was traveling to DC. On the plane was a Rabbi, a college student, a doctor, a politician, and Henry Kissinger. Soon after takeoff, the pilot comes into the cabin, reaches in a locker, pulls out a pack, and puts it on. I was just reading about the hearing down in Gitmo of Khalled Sheik-yer-buti Mooooooooooooooooohemmed and some of the other 9/11 nice guys - you know, from the 'religion of piece'. I guess the hearing didn't go very well, because most of them put on the silent treatment, although one of them - the guy from Yemen with the off-balanced eyes and semi-cretin headshape - got a little 'animated' and had to be restrained.
Anyway, I was struck by a couple of things..............one being that I have a hard time figuring out why these lawyers would take a case like this - given the fact that they will get no cooperation from these lowlifes.............and two, there is a FEMALE lawyer for one of these guys - which in itself is astonishing - but she was dressed up in traditional moooooooooooooooooslem garb, with only part of her face showing - and she wanted the judge to tell the other females at the hearing to dress accordingly, so that her client wouldn't breach any rules of his religion by seeing them!!! You can't make this stuff up!!!
As ugly as these guys are, I'd be demanding that they be completely covered up, so that I couldn't see ANY part of them!!!

Did you notice in the "About Me" section the Minister's ironic self-congratulatory claim that everything he has ever done is from breaking his own back and that nobody else thinks for him?
I'm not sure if his misspelling "Gaff" was an intentional if lame effort to distinguish his list from yours, or just further proof of his idiocy. I suspect the latter.

I was SHOCKED by this reaction.
I've had several other bloggers pick up my list, and when I dropped them a note to request attribution, they quickly complied and said "great stuff", or words to that effect.
If you merely google "Obama's Gaffes", my list shows up at #11 (here on the NB forums) and also at #14 for my blog. If you google my tag line, there I am, front and center.
As you say, I suspect the latter, too. Creepy dude.

This Ain't Hell linked to this story, and it's one that is at the same time, sad, but so inspiring.
The young man in the article, Cody Green, beat leukemia three times, before he succumbed to a fungal infection. He was 12 years old.
The Marines decided that Cody belonged in the Few and The Proud. Then one of them went far beyond that. Read up, it's a great story.

It appears the guy may have violated WordPress.com's Terms Of Service agreement (TOS - not TOC as I mistakenly typed), specifically parts 1, 2, 8, and/or 9. He may have violated the TOS of his ISP as well. I don't know what ISP he is paying for internet access but he appears to use SoftLayer.com to host his web site. The Acceptable Use Policy for using a SoftLayer network "cloud" can be read here.

I used a simple WhoIs lookup to find out about SoftLayer.com. Google "WhoIs" and then put in "northsaintpaulnews.com" (without quotes). You can also do a Trace Route to see how many and what stops/servers along the way to his web site from you. I was hoping to get his ISP but only found his cloud server. Others with advanced knowledge may be able to figure it out. (Mr. Shy?)

You can save a copy of the web page using Firefox by going to the page to be saved, click on File, Save Page As, choose a place to save the file and a name you want for the file, click the drop down box for "save as type" and choose Web Page, HTML only. A similar process is used with Internet Explorer and probably other web browsers. The important point is to save as HTML only instead of Complete. Saving as HTML will result in one file of the entire page while saving as complete may require multiple files to do the same thing.
I have saved a copy of his web page. Let me know if you are successful or would like a copy of my save.

HA!!! My Nicely-Built workshirts are in higher demand than I can afford to keep up with, since I only give them away!! Since I've gotten this new project started, I'm allready under pressure from a lot of subs and materialmen for shirts - so I'm going to have to get a few dozen made up - and they ALL will disappear!!! I guess I could take a photo of them and send it to you - you have to be open-minded and have a good sense of humor to accept them - but like I said, about 99% of the people I know like them - including my client's wife, which is a plus!!!
I've made womens shirts too - and they disappeared quickly!!
But for my Babes - well, we had to wear the league sponsered uniforms, but I always bought my girls matching 'bumble-bee' soccer socks, and matching scrunchies for their hair.............and, boy, would that get me in trouble with the league!!! But my girls were the best looking team on the island, and also played good soccer - AND had a lot of fun!!!
The league had a REAL battle-axe lib know-it-all comminssioner for a couple years there - and she always tried to make things hard on me. But, since I was the head referee of the whole island (and a damn good one too, if I may say so myself!!), and also coaching a team.................I proposed to her to 'fire' me, if she didn't like what I was doing - which was having a lot of fun and giving the youth a good time - in an era of their life where things could go astray.................well, she was a iron-fisted monster (I think her and Nurse Ratchett would've made a good couple!!!) who 'ruled' by fear and intimidation, but she wasn't stupid enough to take me up on my offer!! And guess what - she was voted out shortly thereafter, and I was still around, having fun!!!

And, for the author, who stated, "though one thing Mr Hollande will not repeat is the disastrous tax-and-spend policies introduced by France's last Socialist President, François Mitterrand, in 1981", I have one thing to say. Wanna bet? He's a socialist, like his American Idol, and he can't really help himself.
France is, or will be shortly, the new Greece.
