Romney Calls Media 'Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy'
Mitt Romney on Tuesday channeled his inner Hillary Clinton by calling the media a "vast left-wing conspiracy."
During an interview with Breitbart TV's Larry O'Connor, the Republican presidential candidate also said, "Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding and I know that's a battle, an uphill battle we fight with the media generally" (video follows with partial transcript and absolutely no need for additional commentary):
MITT ROMNEY: There will be an effort by the quote vast left-wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me. They're going to do everything they can to divert from the message people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That's what people care about
And the Democrats know that given the president's record over the last three and a half years they cannot run on that record, and therefore they will try and make this race about anything but the president's record and the economy. […]

Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding and I know that's a battle, an uphill battle we fight with the media generally. But fortunately there are some other voices like yours which have in many cases a lot more credibility. And when it came for assistance to the ObamaCare fight, you guys have won the fight.

Why is it interesting? The MSM has already admitted to being predominantly Left-Wing.

Well spoken. I'll never forget the stunned look on his face when the NYT and all the rest of the liberal media started savaging him the moment he got the GOP nomination.
He'd spent so long being their pampered darling as 'the maverick' - the senator who was willing to 'cross the aisle' (i.e., turn traitor). He really thought the media would still love and adore him.
It just shows what a clueless load he was - and that is one of the many reasons why he lost the election.
Romney can beat Obama - IF he doesn't pull a McCain and try to play patty-cake with Obama 'because he's the black guy'.
And that's why you voted for him?

Romney seems to better understand what he's up against than McCain did.
And, Romney didn't hire Steve Schmidt[1] to run his campaign so it's clear he's already starting off better than McCain. Let's hope this continues.
1 - And yes, Schmidt is the guy that had a nervous breakdown during the 2008 campaign.

When Hillary called the media a "vast right-wing conspiracy" it was a howler... and a huge red flag for just how out of touch she is.
In Mitt's case he is spot on, but how many points do you get for calling water wet?
For Hillary: Huh?
For Mitt: Duh.
But as others have noted above, it certainly is encouraging that Mitt is fully aware that the MSM will not carry one drop of water for him. McCain often pulled his punches so as to suck up to the MSM; let's hope this does not happen with Romney.

Just how "vast" is this media conspiracy
Submitted by lrgon on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 12:51pm.
in your opinion?
Does the conspiracy spread across the entire spectrum? Newt Gingrich has said that Fox spurned him because Fox was totally sold on Romney. If Newt is correct on his assessment of Fox news, is the Rupert Murdock network guilty of favoritism and is not truly "fair and balanced" news as they claim?
But Newt has always played both sides to advance his career so maybe his opinion of Foxs' biasness is based on "bitterness" as the Fox execs opine.

During the Presidential debates, Barky will be nothing without his teleprompter. Romney on the other hand could place a cardboard cutout of himself at the stand and he will still come out the victor.

When liberals say stupid and crazy things that no one except the far left believes, then that stuff will backfire on them, just like the "War on Women" stuff backfired on them.
I think that is the reason Romney is ahead in the Gallup tracking polls right now.

It was right for conservatives to point out that the "war on women" was a fake media narrative from the left, it was wrong to respond to it with a fake "war on mothers" narrative.
The media is the problem, but not just the liberal media.

and the media helps him sell that image as the "conservative" challenger to Obama. The real dummies are the Republican voters that buy into this media conspiracy of building Romney as another Reagan!

the media is not his friend. In fact, they will do all they can to see that Obama is re-elected and if that means hurling hardballs at Romney and flipping softballs to Obama, that is what they are going to do.
Romney must do what Reagan did and that is, speak over the media and straight to the people. Romney has two big advantages and possibly three, that Reagan did not have: Fair and Balanced Fox News, talk radio and friendly web sites on the internet.
