Anyone else notice that when Hispanics (Latinos) are illegal aliens, oppressed, underrepresented, etc. they are, ummmm, well, Hispanics (Latinos).
But when they shoot (allegedly) a black (gangsta wannabe, presumably) in self defense, they are re-labeled as 'white Hispanic'???
Can we all now pick and choose our race according to it's usefulness?

Ask yourself this: what was the last time you heard the term "White Mexican," or "White Puerto Ricans," or "White [insert Hispanic nationality here]?" This is the first time I actually hear the term White Hispanic, and I'm 50 years old and I served alongside Hispanics in the Army!
As a matter of fact, when's the last time you heard the term White African-American? They DO exist, you know! Just ask the nationalized white people who emigrated here from South Africa!
By the way, how does a White Hispanic describe their race on the Census form? I see a question for "Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin?" but I don't see anything for a White Hispanic.

In many contexts, the term is actually an oxymoron to the Latino community.
As I stated in another post, we in the Latino community don't see Zimmerman as "white Latino", we see him as "Latino".
La Raza, MeCha and Aztlan are all Mexican organizations that disregard other Latinos. They pretend to represent the Latino community, but in truth they don't give a damn about us. They are primarily resistance organizations bent on "reclaiming" land they maintain was "stolen" from Mexico, even though the territories were properly ceded, bought or obtained as a result of treaty. They have no use for other Latinos, despite their many claims to the contrary. They are to Latinos the same as the NBP or Calypso Louis is to the Black community--mostly pariahs.

When I was in basic training and AIT my best friend called himself a
Chicano (?). He dad was American and his mom was from Mexico. He lived in Loredo. In '77 I went to Loredo to surprise him. Do you know how many Roberto Martinezs there are in the phone book. I finally remembered his dad's name. Called the number and got his mom, She didn't speak much English. Finally talked to his sister and told her to tell him that I was at the Hilton. About 7 o'clock he walked in with a half a gallon of Jack Daniels. The rest of the weekend remains a bit fuzzy. He never referred to himslef as white.

I don't know where "chicano" came from, but to my knowledge it was used primarily about Mexicans and not other Latinos.
Laredo is a very, very tough border town that has a huge problem with drug gang-related violence.
As for the number of "Roberto Martinez" in the phone book, try looking up "Jose Perez" in the San Antonio phone book. Same thing.

I don't know about the 37, strat ol' buddy.............I just wanted to be 'killa' when I signed up to NB, after being an animated and proud member of the 'vast right wing conspiricy' for all of my life (hey, I couldn't help it, my parents were both very Conservatively minded - but always encouraged me to be independant and free-thinking).......................but they assigned me the 'killa37' handle, and I don't know where they came up with that - although I wish I were 37 years old!!!
The 'killa' actually came from a surf spot that used to be in California that was called Dana Point, and the surf spot was called 'Killer Dana'..................and my name is actually Dana. Some of my friends from California told me about it, and pretty soon my surf buddies were calling me 'killa'...........which is a sort of local pronounciation of the word. Glad you responded. I read a headline about a rock shower somewhere in Asian Hawaii and was worried about you. A guy in the neighborhood was rock climbing years ago and camped out on a ledge. Overnight a boulder let loose and landed on his tent instantly killing him. Don't want to hear that happen to anybody I know again.
I thought killa might have come from a resemblance, one way or another, to the original Killa -- Jerry Lee. (Check out the drummer and his shades in the video!)

Well, I don't know too much about California, but I have heard of the San Juan Capistrano swallows. Too bad about those buzzards - now there is an animal whose characteristics match it's name - kind of like a vulture or a rat or a lib.
I dunno about the rock shower, but we did get some hail a few weeks ago during those massive rains - hell, we even had a 'water spout' (small tornado) right down here at my local beach - it ripped the roof off a house and pulled up some trees!!
Yeah, Jerry Lee WAS the original 'Killer', and he earned it!!! I always thought he was more 'dangerous' than Elvis, and the guy could play like a bat outta hell!!! I remember seeing him on some variety show when I was a boy, and he was standing on the piano and KILLING it - AFTER he has thrown his piano bench off the stage!!! And his long curly blong hair was going everywhere!!! I think at that time there were many mothers whisking their young daughters away from the old black and white TV sets!!! Little did they know that ol' Jerry Lee was soon to marry his 13 year old cousin!!! Killer indeed......................

Yeah I realize that now it's just been recently I've been able to follow the games at all as hockey is not a popular show in the community TV room and I cannot afford a TV of my own- nor do I necessarily want one. What I need is a laptop. I'd pay for the high speed internet access however bills ran high this month and I am required to save 30% in preparation for getting a V.A.S.H. (Veteran's Administration Subsidized Housing) voucher YHVH willing. They are talking about blocking ALL social interaction sites at these computers which are primarily to be used for employment related activities. Time for lunch back later if all goes well.
And of course like other sports money seems to talk so enjoy your hockey teams my southern friends; ice rules (the northern winters anyway).

When you tax something, you get less of it. In many cases, that's precisely why the item is taxed. Alcohol taxes, tobacco taxes, "luxury" taxes - all are crafted to reduce the use or purchase of those items.
Our economy requires that we generate more income and more investment, and to do so requires that we spend less of what we make so there's something left to save and invest.
So what does Government do? It taxes income and investment but not spending.
That's exactly the opposite of what makes sense! A flat tax is still an income tax - the opposite of what makes sense.
The Fair Tax is, in part, a national embedded retail sales tax - sales, as in spending on new things sold at retail. So which is a better way to increase income and savings - taxing income or taxing spending?
Tax spending and not income. That's the Fair Tax in a nutshell. The main problem with the Fair Tax is that you can't do it overnight.
A prerequisite for implementation is repealing the Sixteenth Amendment. That requires a two-thirds supermajority in Congress to pass it and ratification by two-thirds of the states.

Since Hillary has stated she will not be attending the DNC convention this summer, which is embarrassing for her Party as well as Obama, maybe this boozing and trampy dancing, in the immediate wake of the Secret Service and Military snafu with foreign hookers while on assignment, are further ways she can embarrass Obama.
After the announcement of her not attending the DNC convention, unless there is some secret negotiations taking place at that time, it is clear Hillary is done as SoS regardless of whether Obama is re-elected. Like Moochelle taking as many vacations as she can on tax payer dollars while hubby is still in office, Hillary might as well live it up on her borrowed time.
The Clintons are coldly calculating devious manipulators who will take their shots when they can, wherever they can. Being outplayed by a guy Bill Clinton remarked would have been getting him coffee not long before soundly beat Hillary, I do not doubt the Clintons would miss an opportunity to make an in the face statement to Obama and those who betrayed them.

Why is it a web ad? I've seen a few other good ads by the GOP but they aren't airing them on TV, at least not where I am. This doesn't do any good on the web, it needs to be seen by people who don't have their minds made up.
