Politico's Roger Simon On Hilary Rosen: 'Obama Campaign Tied Her to the Top of the Family Car'
Politico's Roger Simon on Friday criticized the White House's handling of the Hilary Rosen-Ann Romney dustup whilst also taking a poke at Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Appearing on PBS's Inside Washington, Simon said, "The degree to which the Obama campaign was fearful of Hilary Rosen's comments: they really tied her to the top of the family car" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ROGER SIMON, POLITICO: The degree to which the Obama campaign was fearful of Hilary Rosen's comments: they really tied her to the top of the family car. [Laughter] I mean, they attacked her immediately.
Hilary Rosen, you’re right: no formal role with the campaign, no formal role with the White House, but Hilary Rosen is a big deal in Democratic politics. She is a big deal in Washington.
She was so far off message that the next day the President of the United States had to denounce her, and only after that did she apologize. That’s not a good communications team working there.
For those missing the joke, the Romneys years ago went on vacation with their dog Seamus in a kennel strapped on top of the car's roof.

Top of the family car? Hell,

Top of the family car? Hell, they lashed her to the front fender!

Having her on top of the car would imply that she was still part of the group and traveling with them to the destination.
But among the WH clowns, no one came to her defense. No one offered a mitigating explanation of what "she meant to say." They all acknowledged that housewives and stay-at-home moms work extremely hard.
Instead, Axelrod made it perfectly clear that Rosen was a "CNN employee" and not one of the DNC.
Jay Carney said that she was not a "very frequent" visitor to the WH (She's only been there 35 times ,or about once a month.)
And the final blow came when Obama referred to her as "someone on TV." That was like the old Soviet Politburo denying the existence of one of its ostricized own.
Rosen will remain active in the Dems campaigns, but you can bet that she will not be in front of a camera or a microphone again.

That's the point Mary Matalin made HERE,
but not in the way that you meant. She didn't think that meant Rosen was irredeemably guilty, but that the Obama camp was desperate to offer up a sacrifice and end the ordeal.
Matalin pointed out how Bush 41 reacted when she made a "notoriously stupid blunder"
and the chattering classes' hairs were ablaze demanding my immediate tar-and-feathering, President Bush himself called me and told me to keep fighting, and to make just a tad fewer wild throws; he put out the word that our own staff was to lay off.
But then again, Bush had some class. Obama is such a self-centered, insecure dictator that he can't tolerate anyone drawing negative attention to him for any reason, and will deep-six that person in a heartbeat. He has neither the empathy nor the class to stand by his supposed "friend." In a panic, he threw her to the wolves, and then tried to boost himself by casting it as a "Sister Souljah" moment.
They had to attack

Has o'bama called Mrs. Romney yet? It didn't take this long for him to call Fluke, did it?

Says Obama campaign doesn't use it.
<insert hysterical laughter>
I guess that depends on what your definition of "Obama campaign" is, but I don't think she can say "only Republicans use it."
Rosen is all tangled up in
Submitted by celator on Sat, 04/14/2012 - 8:48am.
Rosen is all tangled up in the rear axle of the bus the Obama team threw her under. Next we'll hear Time Magazine's official White House spokemouth Jay Carney say, "Hillary Rosen? Never heard of her." Those lefties who want to be Obama's special pal, take the Rosen and Fluke episodes as a cautionary tale. You are only last week's fodder for Obama.
Let's play the name game

The official spokesperson for President O'Bama is Jay Carney, a squawking trouble maker (jay) and a carnival worker (carny). And then there's the Georgetown law student whose appearance before a faux hearing of Congress was a fluke (take you pick: big whale tail or Nancy Pirogi's headline grab).
And Democrats still haven't

And Democrats still haven't come to a "consensus" on whether Rosen is friend or foe....

With 'friends' like L'il Opie/Lt. Fuzz Jay-Bird Carney and Dubbie Whasshername-Schlitz, who need 'enemies' anyway??? And you KNOW that with a guy like Boy Baraka - you could be riding in the 'front of the bus' (as opposed to the 'back of the bus', where the Republicans can sit) for almost the whole trip, but if he decides you might be a liability to him, you are immediatly jettisoned out the door and under the bus.
Somebody still likes her

Once a star among the left wing gabsters, Rosen now appeals to almost no one - except Maddow, of course, who probably still thinks Rosen is the cat's meow.

"That’s not a good communications team working there."
Well, since you just claimed that she wasn't working for the Obama campaign, that she has "no formal role," why does that surprise you? Is Obama supposed to be in constant contact with every single "Democratic strategist" in America or something? Is he supposed to pre-approve everything they say?
I can't believe that you're complaining that she didn't stay "on message!" Is that REALLY what you want, what you expect from a political party? Total adherence to what their "leader" says? That all speech must be coordinated at the political level? Yea, you would have done well, in the Nazi Party!
Let this be a lesson to all "democrat strategists:" never stray from the plantation!
