Kathleen Parker: Tea Party Won’t Have ‘Same Clout’ in 2012 Elections as 2010

By Noel Sheppard | April 01, 2012 | 16:15

Noel Sheppard's picture

Kathleen Parker this weekend demonstrated that even so-called “conservative” media members long for the death of the Tea Party.

On the syndicated Chris Matthews Show, the Washington Post columnist predicted, “The Tea Party’s not going to have the same clout in the 2012 election as they did in the last cycle” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

KATHLEEN PARKER: Here’s some even better news from your perspective: the Tea Party, evidence suggests that the Tea Party’s not going to have the same clout in the 2012 election as they did in the last cycle. In fact, they’re, they’ve had the greater effect of sort of making the old establishment adapt rather than overthrowing them.

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Can we put out your email address for the Tea Party people? They want to react to that.

PARKER: They’ve got it.

Exactly what “evidence” suggests this?

The Republican presidential campaign up to this point has seen all candidates move to the right on their views in order to court the Tea Party vote.

Why that will change come the first Tuesday in November seems suspect.

In addition, two key issues in June will likely have a huge impact on conservative activism in the coming months.

First and foremost is the Supreme Court’s decision regarding ObamaCare. One could make the case that regardless of the ruling, the Tea Party will either feel emboldened by a reversal or angered if it’s upheld.

Also on the radar is the recall effort of Wisconsin’s Republican governor Scott Walker. Here, too, it seems conservatives will either be uplifted by him keeping his position or angered by him being tossed out.

But the Tea Party having less clout this election?

Seems like wishful thinking from a woman the Washington Post and CNN consider "conservative."

Parker's contact; no email address

Submitted by gopcongress on Sun, 04/01/2012 - 4:33pm.

Her email is right here on the WaPo form entry page:

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/staff/email/katheen+parker/

She has Twit and FB as well, but who cares.

ALSO NOTE: The Tea Party is NOT hiding. There have been several low-key events in many towns that don't merit national attention. But they've not just been involved in presidential politics. They are just as adament about improving Congress, including retaking the senate, and potentially providing a more conservative, robust Speaker than John Boehner (or at least moving him to the right).

Finally, consider that a lot more state legislatures will continue their migration to the right. Other than Scott Walker's recall election in Wisconsin and possibly Elizabeth Warren't attempt to oust RINO Scott Brown in Massachusetts, the MSM has been completely silent on these races, unlike in 2010.

The second Wednesday in November will most probably become Judgment Day for the Socialist elements controlling the Democratic party, and they will have to undergo a serious rebirth to have pragmatic relevance in future elections.

I heard there was an investigation that revealed 'John Boehner' was merely a figmation of our collective imagements.

There really IS someone by that name?

An actual, living, breathing person?

Well how about that?

Boehner a Beltway R like most of em. RINOs...

Submitted by MaximusBraveheart on Mon, 04/02/2012 - 11:44am.

Beltway R's in Congress, including Ryan, voted for pro Homosexual agenda among many other things: more debt, more government, funding PP, don't fight illegal appointments, don't impeach justices. Every country that has had a major moral reversal has collapsed. We are now at the point that good has become bad and bad behavior is endorsed. IT is the ROOT of our economic problems: NO GODLY morals. Not about just sexuality; just a part of it. Most Beltway insiders, Rs certainly included, have very little moral fiber and in fact, make fun of it. This is in opposition to the very people that elected them. THROW them out!

Snip from article: "Republican leadership has evolved, too. It has quietly worked behind the scenes to kill amendments that reaffirm opposition to same-sex unions, several sources told POLITICO."

KP has TP for brains!

Submitted by neutron on Sun, 04/01/2012 - 7:46pm.

Kackling Parker needs to keep telling herself and her fellow libtards that all is well on the plantation and that they have the election in the bag. Go ahead and repeat the mantra that the TEA Party is dead and defunct. Close your eyes and click your heels together while saying "There's no meme like Obama-home."

Give me a break! We still know each other. We keep in touch while keeping our political powder dry. We're still pissed off, and now we have the martyr Breitbart memes "I am Breitbart" and "Breitbart is here." We know when the elections are held. We know s--t from Shinola.

"Who is John Galt?"

Kackling Parker and her soul-mates will be even more shocked at the Nov 2012 election results (National down to local) than Chrissy Matthews was shocked that there were so many (credible) arguments against the Constitutionality of ObamaCare. Shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Submitted by celator on Sun, 04/01/2012 - 6:12pm.

A phone rings.

Kathleen answers: Hello?
Barry O: Are you ready for this week's orders?
K: Yes, your wonderfulness.
O: Start talking about how the Tea Party is dead. It's over for them. They will have no impact on my re-election.
K: Yes, your highness.
O: Make sure you repeat that often. I've ordered the other media stooges, commentators, to do the same. You won't be alone. Check Journ-o-list. You'll see.
K: I will obey. It is my duty, sir.
O: Thanks, I'll send you a nice T-Shirt for this. I'll be thinking about you a lot.
K: Oh, you will, your Majesty?
O: Sure. See ya.

I watched her say that. Remember this panel consisted of the same group of jerks that are SHOCKED, SHOCKED I SAY, that the Supreme Court would even think this could be unconstitutional.

Another item that had them SHOCKED was that Justice Scalia used broccoli as an example for the mandate. People reading this post have heard this over and over for two years but the entire panel laughted and acted as if this had never been mentioned before. These people truly live in a bubble.

Submitted by djwolf12 on Sun, 04/01/2012 - 7:43pm.

This election IS NOT going to be about Obama's record over the last 3 years of his tenure. The election IS, However, going to be about how Rush Limbaugh is waging a one man war against EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY AND THE WORLD from behind a microphone.

And if you believe Obama has an immaculate record then you probably are silent about gas prices being so high after all that oil we stole from Iraqis during the war.

She is a moderate progressive

Submitted by c5then on Mon, 04/02/2012 - 8:35am.

That's exactly what the left like to call a "conservative". A real conservative is referred to by the left as a "right-wing wacko".

So it's really just a terminology issue. Parker also seems to have a very very short memory.

The Tea Parties have moved the Republican party further to the right than they were in 2010 and certaintly more than they were in 2008. The Republican leadership seems to have made the decision that they needed to listen to the Tea Parties or risk fracturing the GOP. As such, I'd say that the Tea Parties will have even MORE influnece in the 2012 election than they did in 2010. After all, it is by some accounts more important who wins the House and Senatorial elections then the Presidential election. The polls have it basically dead even between Obama and all the possible GOP candidates even though it has been a brutal GOP primary and Obama has faced no challenger at all.

Would we have gotten the Paul Ryan budgets without the Tea Parties? Would we be talking about the real possibility of a complete overhaul and simplification of the federal income tax without the Tea Parties?

Quietly waiting...

Submitted by ginger on Mon, 04/02/2012 - 9:20am.

Don't know about the rest of the Tea Party movement, but this family of Tea Partiers are sitting back, watching the crap going on in DC, rolling our eyes at the contradicting statements coming out of the WH, smoldering at the lame stream media for journalism malpractice, shouting at the TV talking heads pitting Americans against each other for ratings, and watching the left, progressives and rino's destroy everything the Flounders thought God-inspired.

Tea Partiers were ridiculed by our President, targeted as terrorists, extremists, racists, and called every name in the book. We then watched in open-mouthed amazement as the filthy, morally bankrupt, cop-hating, destructive Occupiers were praised and fawned over by the President, the Left, Progressives and the media.

The Tea Partiers we know are just quietly waiting for our chance to go to the ballot box in November, and vote the idiots out of office that have squandered their chance to do what is right. Looking back on the Bush-Gore election results with the hanging chads and going to the Supreme Court, we feel that if there is not a striking majority win, we fear that this November election may be the last held in our country. If the left can stir up the occupiers and the Trayvon/Zimmerman crowds, think what can do with a close election of voting our first African-American President out of office?

In point of objective fact...

Submitted by NevadanConservative on Mon, 04/02/2012 - 10:55am.

... the Tea Party will -not- have the same amount of clout as was the case in 2008 and 2010.

If I read all the channel markers right, they will have MORE clout.

Not that the media will note it except en passant, the lazy bastards.

Which, by the way, is why the media is so far left. They are lazy, and expect to be given their marching orders and be 'evolved' into a version of the Ministry of Truth by and by. The 'objectivity' they lie about having requires effort.

Make no mistake, though. Rush was right, the GOP does not need to check their PRINCIPLES at the door, they need to check their EGOS. Whomever in the next month finally emerges, we need to throw all we got behind him or her (no, not being p/c, but I leave room for the unexpected) and run full tilt.

As I've stated before, November IS the Main Event. BHO is the third socialist president, after Fat Bill and FDR. He will be the last, either by being voted out, or by his re-election deluding him into thinking he is the American Kim Jung Un/Manuel Noriega/Robert Mugabe/fill in your own lifetime term dictator.

Should that last occur, I prophesy that it will not be a quiet 'going into that good night' of Reagen's 'thousand years of darkness'.
