You of course can talk about anything you want as long as it's decent, but here are some possible discussion topics if you so choose:

  • The Left and their media minions have been very excited about recent economic statistics suggesting things are getting better and therefore will assist Obama's reelection. But Friday's GDP report was very disappointing. What does your crystal ball show on the horizon?
  • The sense is that Romney did well enough in Thursday's debate - and Gingrich didn't do as well - to tilt Florida in Mitt's direction. Is that how you see it, and do you think this race is over if that's the case or that we still have a long way to go yet?
  • Some believe Santorum won on Thursday, and that we could see a groundswell for another Anybody But Romney candidate with Rick fitting the bill. You agree with this? How well does Rick have to do in Florida to achieve this?
  • What do you think about Ron Paul at this point? Is he still adding to the debate or is it time for him to step aside thereby giving the remaining three more airtime?
  • Who do you think won the week? Some think it was Romney for he at least stopped the bleeding and is positioned to win Florida. On the other hand, some believe Obama won this week. What do you think?

And Santorum gets my vote. Well if I wasn't in VA he would. We don't get the full array of candidates here. And it's reported as being bad for Santorum and Gingrich for not getting on the ballot. No, it's bad for the voters who would like to be able to choose the candidate like best of the four, instead of two. The media wants to make it about the candidates. No, it's about WE the People.

BTW, Santorum is picking up some Gingrich voters. Not that it matters in FL specifically.

As for Gingrich and Santorum

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sun, 01/29/2012 - 2:39pm.

As for Gingrich and Santorum not getting on the ballot, I have to ask myself -- when did VA change it's rules, and why didn't they let everyone know? You know, people like Gingrich and Santorum -- how come they didn't know about the rules?

I for on am getting sick and tired of Bambi and Biteme using Seal Team 6 as props. They are both trying to make people believe that only Bambi could have done what those guys did with the killing of Bin Laden and the rescue of the 2 ladies. All the RSFSOB did was give the approval to go on both counts. As it looks now he is planning on using special ops team to do what a regular squad of Marines or Army could do. It doesn't sound as good if 2nd squad, 3 platoon, A company, 2nd battilon of the 7 Cav,1st Cav divsion took an objective and held it. Seal Team 6 sounds a lot better for politcial purposes.

I am not against Seal team 6. I think they are damn good at what they do. There are other Seal teams as well as Marine Recon, Army special ops and some Air Force units doing things each day we never hear about. Most of them don't want any glory. They do their missions, return to their operating base, have a couple cold ones and get ready for the next one.

'Something narcissistic', Cool??? Isn't that kind of an under-statement??? With Boy Barry, it's ALL about him when it makes him look good, and it's NEVER about him if it's bad news.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of these types of operations were going on when Bush was President, but I don't seem to remember him showcasing them in an attempt to glorify himself.

I think there's a reason that they're called 'secret' operations.

We ALL know that he's been selected, perfected, infected, reflected, and elected by HIS puppet-masters, the State-Run Media, and a majority of stupid and ignorant voters.............and that this punk-ass little prick wouldn't be able to hold a job at McDonald's as a janitor if he had to enter the 'real' world.

And when I wake up EVERY GODDA*M DAY and see what ELSE this half-breed co*ksucker is trying to do to our country, and I think about my own father and where he stood, I have to admit that my definitions of 'despise' and 'loathe' are easily transformed into 'hate'............because it is SURVIVAL, baby!!! And it is LIFE OR DEATH, as far as I'm concerned!!!

If I had the opportunity to meet this snotty little girlie-man, queebie-assed, arrogant, full-of-himself and full-of- shiite nimrod, the treatment than Gov. Brewer gave him would be kindergarden behaiviour compared to what I'd have to say to his stupid face.

Just got back off the boat after a great day, stopped in at the bar for some fritters and drinks, talked to a darlin' bartender for awhile, and came home to get ready to go out again! My buddy, a Marine snipper (I think that's what Bambi calls them) and I told the same old war stories, laughed our asses off, and tried to remember what it was like to be young and bullet proof.

I love darlin' bartenders who smile at me and make me think that i am still worth talking with, even though I know that they think I ought to be home in bed. They warm an old man's heart., and I tip accordingly.

Is this a great way to go or what?!?

To tell you the truth, Ms Rad

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 01/29/2012 - 11:33pm.

To tell you the truth, Ms Rad - I usually just don't 'go to the beach', unless it's to go surfing, and usually I don't hang around there too much otherwise. I don't have the time - especially these days, when making a living is a paramount concern - hell, having a JOB is a paramount concern!!! But the beach is really close, and it's there for everybody to enjoy - and it sure seems like there have been a lot of tourists around here since before Christmas, so somebody must be doing allright. Sure isn't me!!!

Yeah, coming back from a Carribean cruise (good thing you didn't have Captian Bligh O'bama running you into the rocks) would be a tough adjustment back to your 'normal' routine - especially if the weather is crappy!! I know what it takes for me after I've been down to SE Asia for some surfing and other adventures........but I MAKE myself keep my 'normal' hours, so that the jet lag doesn't mess me up, and I force myself to get back into my work routine..................there's a reason why these other times are called 'vacations'.

Now he is proposing cutting 7000 or more from Lejeune. Onslow County has spent a lot of money building new schools. Looks like it was a waste of tiem.

O's forcing a "peace dividend" while we're still at war

Submitted by Blonde on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 4:33pm.

President Downgrade strikes again. Not only has he downgraded our credit rating, he has downgraded our long held doctrine of being able to engage in two separate conflicts at once.

Iraq was initially a conflict between the generals/theories of warfare as well as a war against American's enemies. The old armor/infantry tactics debate. Take and hold ground with overwhelming force and power, versus taking the ground with quick strike capabilities and moving on (light and lean). Hence the need for The Surge in order to ensure success in Iraq. I won't get started on The Won's premature pull out from Iraq, which IMO snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Obama is attempting to exchange beefing up special operations and superior technology (drones) while at the same time stripping out SF's traditional support. We can already see the illogic in this, in microcosmic examples, i.e. the loss of the 36 special operators in the crash of a non-SF equipped and piloted chopper in Afghanistan a few months ago.

In the military, you simply cannot do more with less. The only option is to do less with less. Obama is going to catastrophically degrade our war fighting capabilities. While we're still at war.

He should be impeached for that alone.

How about that boondoggle known as the F-35?  I knew someone who had worked on them years ago(he quit on principle) when they were pushing them in favor of the F-22 and he saw while they were being assembled that there were a lot of problems with them.  He was frustrated about it but was basically told to shut it or get fired(which is why he quit anyway).

What's interesting about that is that I knew two other people who were actually in the military who worked with the existing F-22s(before production was killed) and one was in favor, the other was in favor of the F-35(but wasn't part of the assembly) and said the F-22s were too expensive.  That was 3 years ago when I heard about this.  I wish I could find that person and say "so how about those F-35s which is proving to be a financial disaster?"

And therein lies the continued practice of throwing money at things that don't work by this bogus potus.  Whether it was a "stimulus" or Cash for Clunkers or a flawed design of a jet, money is just being wasted.

Funny thing about the F-35s, the one I know of that worked successfully and flawlessly was the one that appeared in the recent movie "Green Lantern."  Worked better than the real thing!

If I were Romney or Gingrich in the General Election, that's EXACTLY how I would parlay the 1st question that comes my way from one of those MSMers or debate moderators: "Sorry, Jack, but I don't intend to comment -- now or in the future -- about any on-going, past, or future operations regarding our secret forces. I only wish the current President didn't feel the need to use them to prop up his sorry administration, either".

And that's it. Not a word otherwise, no matter how much I was badgered about it.

Allow me to put the narcissism question to rest.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 11:01pm.

As a psychiatrist who has practiced for over three decades, my observations of the current POTUS are that he is what we termed in the past a "malignant narcissist". This combines elements of true Nero-like sociopathy with a Napoleon-like cluster B narcissistic personality disorder. Everything IS about him, despite his hollow, vacuous protestations.

I am NOT the first to make this observation, as Charles Krauthammer (a board-certified psychiatrist in his own right) and multiple other mental health practitioners have observed in other forums. I make an extension, forensically and in light of older psychiatric terminology, to add the "malignant" of my own volition. The man has absolutely no moral scruples, no emotional attachment to others than himself and certainly no purpose than his own aggrandizement. The protestations of "I'm not an idealogue" and "It's not about me!" are hollow and vain.

Make no mistake--we are dealing with a POTUS with a distinct Axis II presentation on a public basis. I can only make my observations based on what has been observed, and I emphasize that he is not my patient. That being said, my opinion stands based on my freedom of speech and opinion.

Let the trolls start here........

A couple of election-related

Submitted by motherbelt on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 2:55pm.

A couple of election-related items:

The Bizarro World of Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum

In the real world, a Republican presidential candidate who not only served as the architect for the first Republican-controlled House in four decades but during four years as speaker engineered legislation ultimately signed by a Democratic president that balanced the federal budget, reformed welfare and significantly reduced taxes would receive at least mild praise for such accomplishments. Yet listening to attacks by Romney and Santorum against Gingrich, someone not familiar with what actually happened in Washington during those years could be forgiven for thinking Newt was the most horrible and un-Republican political leader in our nation’s history.

Has Drudge given up his reputation for fairness to shill for Romney?

Cherry picked quotes, biased headlines and hyperlinks to Newt-hating op-eds in order to patch together an ugly and distorted mosaic of the former House speaker is not journalism. It’s mercenary-style political prostitution.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like we are scraping the bottom of the barrel when the best thing that you can say about Mitt Romney is "he at least stopped the bleeding?" I mean, the Republican powers-that-be are pushing a man who "he at least stopped the bleeding."

Jesus Christ! Can't the leaders of this pitiful party aim just a little higher?

"He at least stopped the bleeding" is even worse that nominating some POS candidate "because it's his turn" like Dole and McCain.

Have the Republicans in charge adopted the old liberal position of not keeping score in kids soccer, or believing it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game?

We are truly doomed and may never come back from a second RFBSOBMN reign. There is no one in the world to save our sorry asses like we saved Europe from Hitler.

I'm thinking that it is time for a Rubio or Christie, who say they aren't ready, to just step up now.

Most great leaders have never thought they were ready, but they always rise to the occasion.

i just don't think we can lose this one, or win with a moderate, and have the country survive as a republic.

Speaking of Conservative Freshman

Submitted by Blonde on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 4:47pm.

Here's an eye opener about one of them....Marco Rubio.

Reuters wrote a potential "Smear of the Year" on Marco. Ruh R'oh, it was so poorly researched and badly written that they've had to print FIVE corrections already, with another few more than likely to come.

How embarrassing to be caught red-cheeked with knickers down around the ankles in such a blatant smear attempt on one of the conservative bright new shining stars.  Is it partisan hackery, or journalistic malfeasance?  I can't decide.

Rubio scares the hell out of them, Blonde.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 5:02pm.

His parents, and he, know first hand just how "great" socialism, and then communism, are. It will destroy our country, and Rubio knows it, believes it, and can articulate it.

They will do anything and everything it takes to bring him down, and the sooner the better in their minds.

I wish he would just step up and say he was going to go to the convention, and if it is a brokered convention, he will compete for it. I think he could win because he is that good.

Obama thinks he can speak? Watch Rubio go! (Well, not you, per se, but all the others around the country who have never had the pleasure of hearing him speak. You've been lucky enough to see him at work)

Rubio (and Allen West as well) can speak conservatively and consistently, off they cuff, because they actually believe what they talk about, unlike a certain person who has to parse every word like a Clinton, resulting in at least fourteen "uh, uh, uh's" per sentence.

Sad To Say

Submitted by stratman on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 5:41pm.

Rubio is showing signs of being corrupted by power:

Said Rubio: "Mitt Romney is no Charlie Crist. Romney is a conservative. and he was one of the first national Republican leaders to endorse me. He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."

It's one thing to be loyal to a man who helped get you into office, but it's an entirely different matter to fib about that man.

A long way to go

Submitted by CobraMan on Sat, 01/28/2012 - 4:17pm.

"do you think this race is over if that's the case or that we still have a long way to go yet?"

Well, since the Republican National Convention, which is when the delegates cast their vote and the Republican candidate is actually selected, doesn't start until August 27, I'd say we have a long way to go yet.

I'm tired of people claiming that the "race is over" when only 1/10 of the States have even held their Primary. It's no different than someone "calling" the results of the general election when less than 10 percent of the votes cast have been counted, as we see the media do election cycle after election cycle.

We can achieve the same result by following President Obama's request in the SOTU where he called upon congress to get rid of the super-majority rules and go simple on everything.

Once that's done, and we have the expected lurch to the right in Congress, we should be effectively able to treat him like an Occupy police car.

Newt's Order of Business Once Elected

Speech Replay At http://www.c-span.org/Events/Newt-Gingrich-Delivers-Keynote-at-Palm-Beach-Florida-GOP-Party-Event/10737427725-1/

1) Beat Obama in the election - Cannot win a fight if Moderate - tried and failed in past. Must be seperation in ideas and policies - "Never again should an American President bow to a Saudi King."

2) Repeal ObamaCare

3) Repeal Dodd-Frank

4) Repeal Sarbanes-Oxley

Additional Business:

Campaign to help defeat Bill Nelson D-FL

Lower taxes

"We will be the party of jobs, paychecks and independence."

"We will run an American campaign."

2012 all about a Grand Coalition.

Let's just get it on.  Anyone that wants to be Europe, you have a candidate. (Obama)

When will things begin to turn around?  Late on election night when it's clear Obama lost.  People will begin to change their investment strategies.

Executive Orders on the first day:  Abolish all Czars, re-establish relations with Israel, re-initiate Keystone Pipeline.

Abraham Lincoln ran on a platform that included building a continental railroad.  There wasn't sufficient steel production, engineers for construction, or all the technology in place.  Kennedy proposed a man on the moon when the technology wasn't in place either.  Vision, courage, spirit of pioneering (,,,).  This is a big country filled with big people.  A country of big achievements.  the problems are not the people or the spirit of the people.  The problem is the bureaucracy.  The great Reagan given recognition for his accomplishments.  If elected, will give life, fortune, all he has to right the country for our children.

My opinion: Fantastic speech.  Heartfelt.  Genuine.  Inclusive.  Best presidential candidate speech I've heard in a long time.

You Weren't There?

Submitted by stratman on Sun, 01/29/2012 - 2:12am.

Then it was the Republican Party's loss. :-)

Allen West is inspirational when he speaks. His look and countenance is every bit the leader as well. I am excited for our country that Colonel West is involved in our government. I don't know how long he needs to season himself for a presidential run, but I hope it is no more than 8 years down the road. I am torn between West having a central role in a Gingrich administration and Florida keeping him, so I leave that future up to West's, and yours, capable decision. I wish I could vote for the man.

Sorry to hear Blonde Mom had a spell. I hope she is feeling well again. I know about the roller coaster days as my own mother has them as well. Today was a better day for her - she went shopping. With her unsteadiness I get concerned about her ambulating over snow and ice, plus the cold is not helpful either. If you are a chip off the Blonde Mom then I am confident she is a strong woman with a fierce resolve. As much as I would like to meet Allen West, I think I would enjoy meeting your mother more. Give her my best.

You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America," Rep. Allen West (R-FL) said at the Palm Beach County Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner. West represents the district in the U.S. Congress.

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sun, 01/29/2012 - 3:22pm.

I didn't vote for Romney during NH's primary. But I'll vote for him during the election if he is the nominee. He has shown me he now knows how to get under a candidate's skin. And irritate the he11 of of him. See what he's doing to Newt?

I'm more convinced than ever he will continue this with o'bama -- in fact, he might be able to push o'bama over the edge. I've always noticed how thin skinned he is, and Jan Brewer obviously left a burr under The One's saddle a year ago that he felt he just HAD to take care of -- in public yet. So this should be interesting to see, if Romney actually wins.
