Chris Matthews and Hardball Guests Laugh at Mitt Romney's Sons

By Noel Sheppard | January 11, 2012 | 18:44

Noel Sheppard's picture

On MSNBC, the disrespect one is allowed to show to a conservative and/or his family knows no bounds.

On Wednesday's Hardball, host Chris Matthews and his guests Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post and John Harwood of the New York Times actually laughed at Mitt Romney's sons (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Mitt Romney trounced his opponents last night and he got to give the big speech in primetime. I think he gave a speech more appropriate to a convention as if he had already won and picked up all the marbles, which is probably an arrogant thing to do. But, his focus was clearly on President Obama and not the guys he beat yesterday. Let’s watch.

After playing some snippets of Romney’s speech, Matthews continued:

MATTHEWS: G-d, Chris Cillizza, you can’t see it, John and I can see it, his sons were lined up there like one of those Motown groups from the sixties.

CHRIS CILLIZZA, WASHINGTON POST: I see them.

MATTHEWS: You know, four of them lined up, you know, all in unison. They were doing everything but clap and show their rhythm. [Laughter]

JOHN HARWOOD, NEW YORK TIMES: Four Tops. [Laughter]

MATTHEWS: Yeah, Four Tops, exactly right. [Laughter]

Apparently families are no longer off-limits to MSNBC, the New York Times, or the Washington Post - the families of Republicans, that is.

Can you imagine the backlash if someone on Fox News or a conservative talk radio host laughed at Malia and Sasha Obama this way?

There'd be calls for apologies and suspensions.

But at MSNBC?

Not so much.

He's mentally deranged. And ANOTHER book about his main man-love JFK???? Will it never end? Bet you can't wait for his love-treatise on Barry boy! Seriously, this guy should have been kicked off the air years ago. But there are no standards anymore. Societal entropy brought to you by liberalism.

You notice he drools out the edges of his mouth too. Someone like that shouldn't be laughing at other people. Ever notice it is the "stupid" people who always call someone else "stupid".

Submitted by TheHistorian on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 7:03pm.

why don't you go look at the pictures of the Obama family in Hawaii? Or how about the kids doing "Barack Hussein Obama, mmmm mmmmm mmmm" Or how about the "57 States" that your leg thrill has visited?  Or how about the rest of his stupid statements? See, we Republicans don't need to make fun of the candidate's kids like you Democrats like to do (just before you tell us Chelsea is off limits, the Obama kids are off limits, etc etc)

Or go laugh at your stupid face on TV. The rest of us do.

"clap and show their rhythm"

Sounds like a stereotypically racist way to describe Motown and the "Four Tops" to me, but then again Chris Matthews and his family got out of North Philadelphia as soon as the first Black family moved into his neighborhood.

has he? What exactly is his problem with Romney's sons being on the stage last night to support their dad? I think it was great that they were all there...If they hadn't been, I have no doubt Tingles and Co. would be snarkily suggesting that it's because one or more of them don't support their dad, and didn't want to be seen there.

Jackass.

Didn't that dope Letterman make some really crude remark about the daughter at a baseball game..........and basically didn't have to 'pay' for it in any discernable way, other than mumbling some phony apology??? THIS IS ONLY 1 TACTIC FOR 2012

Submitted by reelman46 on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 10:19pm.

A TERRIFYING JAN. 10.2012 COMMENT POST ON WND by StNikao:

Obama has a goodly number of tricks up his sleeve that will GUARANTEE his re-election:

- Prevent voter Photo IDs and National Voter Registry
- Hurried amnesty (and voting registration) for illegal aliens.
- OWS/Arab Spring/Union type civil unrest (aka mob violence - think LA riots) Jimmy Hoffa Jr. promised violence in Obama's presence at a fundraiser this fall.
- Voter Intimidation, Coercion by Unions, other groups
- Media manipulation through programming, words, attitudes of journalists, comedians, etc. (shaping opinion of electorate)
- Polls
- Polls and primaries control money and advertising budgets of candidates
- Aggressive voter registration in Democratic areas (legal, but still a win strategy) especially when combined with the next tactic
- Paid votes, community team organizers, busses
- Absentee ballots
- Prisoners
- Votes for felons, incarcerated
- Multiple residency, multiple registered voters
- Vote count fraud
- An array of possibilities from hacking to trunk fulls of fraudulent votes, double or multiple state residency voters...
- Americans Elect will run a third party candidate (divide and conquer) which will split vote and GUARANTEE a win for Obama.
This organization is already VERY well funded by unknown donors and has registered in all 50 states

Seriously. Are Mitt Romneys SONS, being on stage with their father after a primary victory an ISSUE??

Chrissy Matthews is PAID to do this TRIPE.

It's sad. What is SADDER, is the STATISTS and GOVT DEPENDENT LOSERS of various STRIPES, now believe silly NONSENSE. So long as the CHECK comes every month.

Our country has been in TROUBLE for a long time. Both LIBTARDS and RINO'S have abbrogated their RESPONSIBILITES to AMERICA in favor of getting ELECTED and re-ELECTED.

We are now in a WORLD OF HURT.

Think about this. Opie the Kenyan Dimwit, has created and presided over 5 TRILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLION dollars in additional DEBT. Yet as Opie spends TRILLLLLIONS and approves the INCREASED DEBT LIMIT INCREASES, Opie POSTURED AND SUGGESTED that we cut 1 TRILLLLLION over 10 years.
AND THAT WASN'T SERIOUS.

16 TRILLLLLLION AT THAT PACE would take 160 years. And the 5 Trillion that Obama has personally approved and presided over, would at THAT PACE, take 50 years to solve. In OBAMA'S OWN SUGGESTION.

Well. That would be NICE. What do we do about the BABY BOOOMERS SSI and MEDICARE????

We are FUXED. I wasn't a MATH MAJOR.

Tell me, Bal, if he had said the same thing about Obama's family, or Biden's family, would you still consider it a "gentle ribbing?" No, of course you wouldn't. You would think it was insulting to the Obama's if I said, for example: "His wife stood next to him like Brittney Spears. The only thing missing was the dancing." But, since the intended target of the insult was the family of a Republican, well....

As for geting "worked up," insult MY family at your own risk!
