Sorry to see the football

Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 12/03/2011 - 12:02pm.

Sorry to see the football season end today. I know there are bowls games but they just don't make up for the regular season

GO DAWGS

GO HOKIES

GO SPARTANS

GO RAMS Havelock is playing for the state 3A championship today in Blue Heaven. Matter of fact it begins in a few minutes. They are 14-0. they practiced at Dowdy-Fecklan at ECU to prepare for a big stadium.

GO WOLVES Lincolnton HS is playing for the state 2A championship today at Carter Finely (NC Stater) That game also begins at 11. My wife went to school there.

A lot of schools are hiring coaches. Thorpe needs to get off his arse and get busy. The best ones are going to be gone. Heels play Canetucky in b-ball today.. I am going to miss it.

Yeah, I've never been much of a basketball fan - other than when my kids were playing youth league - but if I'm going to watch some, I find the college game to be much more interesting and entertaining and involved than the pro game - like you say, you see some monster dunks and a few 'team-work' type of plays - along with nonstop traveling - but other than that, it's pretty damn boring.Lotta millionaires doing as little as possible to earn their big bucks..................why aren't the OWS people protesting THESE guys???

UG gave it a good try, they learned like others have, you must make the plays when you get a chance. UG dropped to many balls, had a few other opportunities they could not take advantage of.

But I have to give the Tigers all props, they have played a brutal schedule and have persevered through many obstacles. Including a UG team that held them without a Firstdown for a complete half, then they run off 42 unanswered. This team is special. Alabam better get a grip!

Bama's gonna get forked. The voter's don't want a re-match even though the Tig's and Tide are easily the 2 best teams in the nation. They will jump OSt over UA just to justify the frelling BCS. Sad but true. Will be a travesty if they do it but I've seen them do way worse. We'll see. Tide/Tigers need to smash it out for the true NC.

I feel like that is going to happen too. ESPN/Disney which carries the BCS games does not want a LSU-Bama match up. Their money speaks for them. Bama lost to LSU the number ! ranked team. OSU lost to unranked Iowa State. The computer should spit out LSU 1 and Bama 2. You know a computer is only as good as what you program into it.

None of the teams I was pulling for won last night.

The BCS games

Submitted by Blonde on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 12:36pm.

IMO, they're trying to shape the BCS games as some sort of playoff, so putting LSU-Bama in the big dance doesn't make sense.

To my way of thinking, if you can't win your own conference, you shouldn't get to go to the title game.

Sorry Bama. If you'd been in Atlanta last night with one loss....I'd have said you deserved to go. But w/o the conference title, so sorry.

2 of the best teams in the nation are in the SEC, can only be 1 SEC champ. That doesn't make Bama less than #2, they played LSU better than anyone else. Hate on the Tide all you want, LSU/Bama deserves the NC easily.

I can't understand why they

Submitted by ricklail on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 11:02am.

I can't understand why they are mentioning Meeeeechigan for a BCS game. The Big 10 already has a monopoly on the Rose Bowl. It is not fair to the other conferences. Give Boise State, TCU and Houston a shot at the big bucks. TCU beat Wisconsin last year in the Rose Bowl so we know they are a formitable opponent. Meeeeechigan has not impressed me. Just how many of their fans will travel down to N'orleans for a bowl game? I hope if they put them in a BCS they are teamed up with a Boise, TCU or Houston and get the ever loving crap beat out of them. Why not give the ACC 2 teams? Va Tech lost 2 games to ClemPson. They deserve just as much of a shot as Meeeeeechigan.

By the way if your team plays in a bowl where the ACC officials call the game I feel for you. The ACC has to have the worst refs in the country.

Yea, I am with you Rick

Submitted by Boudin on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 12:32pm.

Although I am a fan of UM, I dont think they are one of the 10 best in the nation. I would like to see Boise get back in, they are fun to watch, and have done well when given the opportunity.

As far as weather or not Alabam gets into the NC game, I will only offer this to the BCS. If the Tigers lose (I can barley type that) to Oak st and Alabam wins? Who are you going to crown? Although I must say, I think LSU beats any of em. BTW LSU is 11-3 since 95' in Bowl games. With Miles loosing just 1 of those.

I do like the fact that Alabam fans are having to sweat this out, but in the end, I am sure they will get the nod, rightfully so.

Nor can I, Rick.

Submitted by UpNorth on Mon, 12/05/2011 - 12:26am.

As Kirk Cousins said last night, Meeeechigan, by virtue of sitting on their couches last night while MSU and Wisconsin played a whale of a game, moves beyond MSU in bowl selection? Not even logical.

And, besides the ACC, the NFL has put on a group of really bad refs tonight in N'orleans.  There is no way, absolutely no way that any NFL team can play 3 quarters and 12 minutes into the 4th quarter and commit one penalty....  Just doesn't happen on this planet.

Not excusing the bone-headed penalties that the Lions picked up.  But seriously, on the Saints first kick-off they hit the return man out of bounds with a forearm to the head, no flag.  On the last play of the first half, the guy coming from the defensive left end blocked a field goal attempt.  Mostly because he was one step across the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped, no flag.

So, bad refs aren't limited to college ball.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Elway is a double barrwel a-hole

Submitted by ricklail on Sun, 12/04/2011 - 5:30pm.

I sent this is a private e-mail to Blonde but I wanted to post it here too.

I just watched Timmy bring the Broncos down the field for the winning field goal. Before that he had gotten them into position for a tying FG. Elway was on the sidelines and never walked over to him and patted him on the back. About all the rest of his team members did but not Elway. You would think that with them now being tied with the Raiders he would be happy. The Olphins just destroyed the Raiders today. Every week that Tebow keeps doing this just makes Elway look like the biggest jerk in football. I mean with all the trash he has tallked about him in the media.

My son who lives in Clearwater went to the Bucs-Panthers game wearing a Scam Newton jersey. Told him if he got his arse beat them it was all his fault.
