After Iowa State's amazing upset of Oklahoma State, college football will be even more interesting today.
And how about those 8-1 Niners?
Or Tim Tebow just winning?
Let's talks weekend sports.

Bama is right back in the hunt with the loss of OSU. I figured OSU would lose to OU not Iowa State. Looks like any chance that Weden had of winning the Heisman went out the window last night. That interseption in OT probably did it.
SEC v Sothern Conferncee today
Florida-Furman. Furman once proclaimed themselves a rose between the thorns, SC and Clempson
For some reason this just don't seem fair but wait until next week. No patsies there.
Miss State welcomed Texas A&M basketball to the SEC with a win over the 19th ranked Aggies. Arkansas welcomed them earlier in football with a win.
Heels lost to Hokies on Thursday night. I wonder how Frank Beemer's teams play such ugly games yet they still win.
Tomorrow Thunder Thighs and Jill Biteme will be the grand marshalls for the Ford 400 at Miami-Homestead. I am not about to watch this because of them. They have ruined the whole race.

You just have to learn to live with the disappointment...
Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 11/19/2011 - 12:20pm.
I followed Indiana this season because of my connections to Kevin Wilson. I know what disappointment is. IU has Mich State and Purdue left. Minn has Northwestern and Illinois left. I don't see either one of them winning another game.

Any bets on the Thanksgiving night game? You know I'm a Ravens fan... Brother vs. brother. The first real test for the Niners... On the road, national tv. Think Jim can take John? Gore coming home to Maryland. Lots of storylines in that one.

Shouldn't this comment have been "I third that emotion"? ;)

For hating Hurricanes but loving Cyclones? Bwahahahaha! Iowa St., ya just got a new fan. : )
GO DAWGS! Munch on those Kitty Kats!

If everything plays out right right now it will be LSU-Bama for the national championship.

It took the Yellow Britches long enough to jump on DOOK. If you can get the game look at the crowd at Wallace Wade. Pathetic

Of course I need to bring up my Demon Deacons. Yesterday was a very good day for the women's sports teams - volleyball won their first road match at BC, basketball put a thumping on Coppin State and soccer ran into the round of 16 in the NCAA tourney with their win over BU. Today the men get into action by taking on Maryland on the gridiron. A victory today may clinch a bowl bid. I suspect they worked extra hard this week after a close loss to Clemson last week in Death Valley.
Sunday both men's and women's soccer and basketball along with volleyball! I may even get to watch some of the games!

Where have you been? I have been singing the praises of the Demon Deacs for most of the season. Now for the fight song. We just hired a PA at the prison. He graduated from Wake. He was surprised when I sang him a few bars of the fight song. Had to learn it in the 3rd grade and have never forgotten it. I am still a Tarheel fan.
Submitted by Hermano on Sat, 11/19/2011 - 3:46pm.
Thanks for the song! I never learned the words well, because I played the trumpet in the band for a couple of years. Plus it is really hard to say "red ruby rhenish." Things have been a bit crazy around here so I do not get much time on NB. I love college sports so much more than the pros. They still seem to really enjoy themselves at this level. I did manage to catch a little of the Carrier Classic. Heels looked a little rough at the start but then poured it on. They will probably crush Wake a couple of times this year. I am hoping for 4 or 5 ACC wins. More than that may be too much to ask. But watch out next year! Top 10 recruiting class:

Dave should be a happy camper. Yeller Britches and Dawgs won. . They face each other next week at Bobby Dodd. Dawgs will be going to the SEC championship game the next week to face LSU more than likely. Who would have ever thought the Dawgs would be here after the first 2 games. They were ready to send Mark Ritch packing after the loss SC.

They somehow managed to put up 21 points against the Tide.
LOL - Nick Saban must have taken it easy with them, as Bama only scored 45 points.

I forgive him only for introducing me to an Australian poem http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-man-from-snowy-river/. I loved the movie adaptation. So glad to understand it's origins. For that, and for that only, I forgive Rick for calling my beloved Tigers (Clempson, Clems'son Etc.) No forgiveness for Dave however. Maybe one day. :)

i am glad my Cocks were able to pick another 'W' today.
Clemson has shot themselves in the foot, people will say things like "Sammy Watkins did not play and Taj Boyd had a bad game, that` s why they lost".
Not buying it, Tigers got outplayed period, end of story.

Yeah, they did. Can't dispute what you say. No excuses. Pi$$es me off! Glad Cocks won today though. Can't help but say Watkins was missed however.

Sitting here watching the Criminoles and the Cavaliers. The ACC officiating SUCKS!!! It sucked Thursday night when my Heels played the Hokies. It sucked in a bunch of games last week. All the SEC teams playing ACC teams next week better hope the officials are from the SEC.

Caught a half dozen or so really blown calls in the 2nd half of MD-Wake. And some were reviewed and they still came up with the wrong call!

YOU GO, COMMODORES!

in this position against TN and other teams over the many years since I graduated. Vandy has a remarkable tradition of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Even though TN is winless in the conference [unbelievable], I wouldn't dare put this in Vandy's win column until after the clock hits 0 and the time for appeal to the league has elapsed.
But inasmuch as Vandy annihilated KY and should have beaten GA and GA struggled against KY today, I'm thinking the Commodores should be thrown into the BCS championship mix.

And just so you'll know, I really don't hate Tennessee, as my dear, sweet SiL worked there for three years.
And she's the best friend I have on this rock. :-)

It's like the script was written in the cosmos and the outcome preordained a long, long time ago. This is the only game of the year when I can almost work up a hatred for TN.

I mean, talk about being torn.
-And it's even worse now that Clem's son lost today.

Sorry, guy....I know that game was painful for you. And trust me when I tell you, this season makes me a far more empathetic fan than I've been in seasons past, unfortunately.

I've discovered that after taking 50 punches to the gut, the 51st doesn't really hurt so much. Anyway, regarding the Gators, at least they finally demonstrated an ability to score a few points Saturday, even if it wasn't exactly the "Steel Curtain" they were facing.

Wake forest plays them next week in Winston-Salem. A win would give the Deacs a 7 win season which would be great for them. Who knows what will happen if they have ACC officials.
Submitted by ricklail on Sun, 11/20/2011 - 9:38am.
I said this early. All the SEC teams playing ACC teams next week need to hope for SEC officials. The Criminoles played crummy enough to lose but the refs also helped the effort. Hermano hit on it when he said they reviewed a bunch of plays In the WF-MD game and still got it wrong. Every official in the ACC needs to be called to Greensboro and made to undergo a week of training before they officiate another game.
On another note many of the feather merchants are gone. Don't have to worry about ClemPson, Oregon or Oklahoma having a shot at the national title. The Arkansas-LSU gets even bigger. If ND beats Stanford , the Hogs beat LSU and Bama wins you'd haved 3 SEC teams 1-3. How do they sort out who plays in the national championship?
Submitted by Rukus on Sun, 11/20/2011 - 2:18pm.
Right now it's tough to tell.. ND could certainly pull one off on Stanford, I just don't see it. AL/AU, well, it's the Iron Bowl-ish (it's @ AU) and you can usually throw the rankings/wins/losses out the window, especially when it's in the hellish J-H Stadium, very tough place to play on any day. AK/LSU is the toughie, although I think LSU will most likely win I can't just look past a very good Hog team. If AK does pull it off I believe LSU will drop to #2 and Bama to #3, unless the Hogs win by more than just a few points. Gonna be a fun weekend nonetheless.
Submitted by Jer on Sun, 11/20/2011 - 10:44pm.
If AK beats LSU in Baton Rouge, how could they continue to be ranked behind LSU--both teams having one loss? I don't envision AK jumping to #1, although it's possible. But I think it's more likely another one-loss team outside the SEC--maybe Ok St--would move back to one of the top three slots. The three SEC teams would be either 1, 2, and 4 or 1, 3, and 4. And if LSU wins, then AK would drop several spots behind OK St and other one loss teams, potentially Stanford for example.
