Wow! What a great World Series! Care to talk about it?
Tons of great football games today and tomorrow.
Any other sporting events you want to discuss?
Submitted by Dave. on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 9:57am.
Given that the Gators don't have a QB and their D is suspect, you have to like the Dawgs chances today. :-)
GT is going up against Clem's son later tonight. I had hoped both teams would still be undefeated when this game came around, but the Jackets have lost their last two.
They must win tonight and pretty much run the table for the rest of the season if they are going to have any chance at the ACC crown.
And somebody else in the ACC needs to step up and beat Clem's son.
The Tide is off today and hopefully preparing for their big dance with LSU next week.
We'll know then who the best team in the SEC really is.
Should be a real barn-burner of a game.
GO YELLOW BRITCHES!
And congrats to the Cardinals for winning Game 7 and thus the World Series.

Considering that the Dawgs' "big winning streak" has been over SEC teams w/a 1 -15 record (the one win being over another hapless SEC school).....I wouldn't get my hopes up too high if I were you.
I know it's tempting, but I'm looking for loss #19 for your puppies since 1990 this afternoon, and a performance from your fans to rival Tennessee's usual bug-out in the 3rd quarter during their annual beatdown.
Care to place a little bet on the outcome? Oh say, tagline of choice for the loser.....a week? I know you'd love to say "I love Obama, I love Obama". :)
I swear to God if stupid Gary and Verne play "Run Lindsey Run" one more time I may never speak to you again. And Herschel's not playing any more. Will Muschamp, having been a Dog himself, understands the significance of this game, and he was on the personal receiving end of a Gator beatdown during his playing days.
I'm going with us. BTW, Brantley is expected to play today, as is Demps. Oops.
(btw, Dave & I are still bestest buds, just not today)

And I guess Jer too. The Dog's played pretty good. Blonde, your Gators dont seem to know the rules. Penalties cost them the game.

A 7 games series is great for baseball fans, and congrats to the the Cardinals for a great series. Just watch out next year for the Tigers!
And now for some Halloween Weekend Football Fun. This week in the NFL, I like the Ravens, Saints and 49ers across the board this week, win and cover. The Giants are also tempting ATS. Upsets? The Seahawks have a good chance for a home win.
NCAA Picks - Michigan looks very strong at home against Purdue for the win and cover, and keep an eye on Baylor at Oklahoma State, the line dropped from OS -18 to OS -13, I still like Oklahoma St by 20.
More Football Picks

I like Nolan Ryan............he was a man's man type of pitcher and player, and he seems to be a man's man type of person too. I really didn't have much interest in the World Series, although I caught the end of a couple of games, and got to watch Game 6,which will probably go down as a classic in World Series history. But I've got to have a little empathy for ol' Nolie, because the way that game 6 went..............he HAD to know that it was the Cards 'destiny' to win the whole thing, especialy with the way their season had gone.
Submitted by mom_rox on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 10:27am.
I was half expecting Nolan to get on the mound himself to get the job done. What a thriller game 6.
Speaking of Nolan, we have an autographed photo in our study (a gift from a relative) of Don't Mess with Tex - Robin Ventura gets '6 hits'.
Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 3:09pm.
Yeah, maybe if Ryan had suited up in the eigth or ninth inning of game 6, and brought out the Express, there wouldn't have been a game 7. He can probably still bring it - hard and heavy!!!

and tell us it's 80 and sunny and he just got in from surfing or is heading out to surf. The man lives in paradise. And the dems over there are the snakes.
We already lost a large branch from a tree because the leaves are still on it and the wet snow weighed it down. I'm grateful it fell away from the house. It's going to be a long hard winter.

KILLA CHECKING IN!!!! You're just about right, Ms. Rad...........it's another wonderful day in paradise, and I'm having my coffee and checking the news. I've allready got a couple surf reports - I surfed yesterday afternoon in some pretty fun surf, but I think it's dropped a little bit...........but it will be coming back up on Monday to some 8-12' heights.
Remember, boys and girls, 'paradise' comes with a pricetag...........I've just had the good fortune of 'getting my own' by way of hard work and lucky timing, with regards to buying my property. It's still an ongoing struggle, as I'm sure it is everywhere else.
The good news is that I've got an actual 'dirt to the doorknob' project that will start in January, and it's only 4 miles from my house and 4 miles from being able to go surfing after work. The bad news is that I've still got to survive the next two months, and the even more bad news is that I haven't worked in 2 weeks - and nobody pays me for being the handsome, suave, funny, clever, warm, loving, musical, athletic KILLA that I am!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!! THAT WAS A JOKE!!!!!
Yep, you're right about the Dems and the unions over here...........I think close to HALF the employed people in this state are some form of government union!!! We don't call it the People's Republic of Hawaii for nothing..............

Become a Denver fan. You can do the latest internet craze....planking is so old hat. Tebowing.
When asked about it (and whether fans were supporting or mocking him):
"It's not my job to see peoples' reasons behind it, but I know (of a kid) with cancer that tweeted me, 'Tebowing while I'm chemoing' — how cool is that?" Tebow said. "That's worth it right now. If that gives him any encouragement or puts a smile on his face, or gives him encouragement to pray, that's completely awesome."
And the Tebow hate goes on, even when he always has an answer like that. It's baffling.
Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 11:42am.
Tebow is one of the greatest sports hero’s for kids and patriotic thinking adults… no question about it!!! Still, while I hope he personally does well… I want to see Denver lose every game they play for the next 100 years!
But personalities aside, I live in a town that has a huge GB Packer’s following… those miserable creeps ruin my after church Sunday’s at the watering hole with their “Cheese-heads,” and obnoxious unsupportive Cardinal’s trash-talk!!! (Again, “personalities aside” mind you.)
Have a great weekend… Since I’m sticking with the Cardinal’s – I won’t.

Heels playing the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest has been moderate surprise so far. Don't really know how it will turn out. If the Heels get beat that would be 4 losses in a row, not good. Heels had to go meet with the NCAA. No news yet on the outcome.
The NC high school playoffs start next Friday. Havelock beat the snot out of my WC Eagles last might, 76-14. In NC we had a mercy rule. Once a team gets 40 points ahead after the first half they don't stop the clock except for injuries or time outs. The Eagles finished 3-8, no playoffs. Havelock finished 11-0 and looks to be the number 1 seed in the east. Go Rams. I hope they take the state 3A crown.
I've already used the enviromental wacko method to pick the Gators. Now let's see if it works.
My hopes are the Yellow Britches beat ClemPson.
Talking heads on Yahoo Sports are picking the Pumpkin Puke People to beat The Game Chickens. That must be some powerful stuff they are snorting.
Who would have believed that back in mid August the Cardinals even had a chance of making it to the World Series. Great series. Numerous records set. One was that a team would have to play 41 games if all the series went the distance. The Cardinals played 38.

I hope your grandson is fine and recovering, Rick. I had an episode a few months ago, with my son calling me in the middle of the night, at the hospital with my own precious 5-year-old Hawaiian grandson.............and some undetermined results about an ailment he was having, and the doctors coming up with some very dark and depressing theories!!! Fortunatly, it was solved fairly easily and the boy has been back to being the sharp and athletic rascal that he always is!!! But it took another doctor's opinion to come up with the correct remedy. I can tell you that my son and the Mom, and the rest of the family, were stressing out for a number of hours.
Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 3:43pm.
He was just here on the way home. He left the hospital yesterday but had to stay around Durham. I am still amazed at all this. He had major surgery Wednesday, 10 hours worth. He was running around the house when he was here. I guess kids heal quicker than adults.

No I think the whole NFL world understands what is wrong with the Colts. They put all their eggs in the Manning basket so they'll have to live with it.

Watching the Rutgers-WVA game. Snowing like crazy. One would think this is a late December game. It is making me feel cold even though it is 71 in the house.
Would somebody explain to me why no one wanted WVA? They have both a good football and basketball program.
While we were waiting for Brody's surgery to complete I made a joke about DOOK football tickets. My son in law's parents who are from Indiana didn't believe. I told them that you could go to any 7-11 in Durham and get free DOOK football tickets. From the looks of the crowd at their game with VA Tech today there were not many takers. DOOK needs to drop football. They haven't done anything since Spurrier left there.

There is no way a 2 loss Notre Dame is going to a BCS Bowl. The loss to South Florida was enough to knock them out. I wish he would shut the hell up. They still have to play Stanford. There are going to be too many GOOD teams with 1 loss when the season ends that are not going to a BCS Bowl.
The enviromental wacko method of picks does not work. Got to hand it to the Dawgs. Dave was right about the Gators D. I wonder if this win was enough to save Mark Ritch job or will he have to beat the Yellow Britches?

Many of you that are here now don't know why I hate ClemPson so bad. For years I worked power plant maintenance for Duke Power. That work took us to Oconee and Lee Steam Station, both in the heart of Tiger land. I got my fill of listening to Tiger crap all day. There were some great HS teams around but I you never heard about them during football season. It was always ClemPson this and ClemPson that.

I am Prisondog, but here is the order of my allegiance.
Vanderbilt: Missed 27-yard field goal to tie Arkansas and send game into overtime. I would love to know the number of times since I graduated 40 years ago that they have missed a field goal from inside the 20 or gave up winning points in the final seconds to lose the game. I've grown so accustomed to it, I'm no longer phased by it. [However, the baseball gods bestowed a miracle on my Cardinals this season, so I really can't ask for more.]
Vols: Rebuilding...but so many good teams in conference that competing both on the field and for top recruits is a formidable task.
SEC: Unlike the Gatorphile and TN-hating Blonde, I like and root for ALL the teams in the conference. In fact, if another team [e.g. LSU, ALA, FLA] has a real shot at national championship, I might lean toward it even when playing Vandy or Vols.
