Angry elf...

Now is TOO EARLY for Christmas ads, Christmas shopping displays, and certainly Christmas music. And I love all that. But seriously, retailers -- could be please let Halloween pass first?

Can't do it, Tim.

Submitted by UpNorth on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 11:43am.

A computer somewhere has told the gurus of retail that mid October is the time to start with Christmas sales.

My wife works for the big blue box store in sporting goods.   They've already taken the hunting items out of the inventory, much too late now to order any more hunting items, even though deer season around here is not for another month.  What's on the shelves, or in the distribution pipeline is what's available.  However, the displays for Christmas will be going up next weekend.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Submitted by motherbelt on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 11:50am.

Some of the stores where I live have had Christmas stuff in them since mid-September. By jumping the gun they force people to shop early whether they want to or not, because as a result, if you wait until after Thanksgiving, everything is picked over or gone.

I remember the year we couldn't find an artificial tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Granted, it wasn't in a big city, but still.....

Boy Tim you were a busy fellow yesterday. Watched you on O'Reilly and then heard you on Cam and Company on the round table. Does MRC pay you overtime? Great job on both O'Reily and Cam. For the life of me I can't remember the young lady from Townhall.com that was on with you last night. She was great too.

The Christmas stuff was in Home Depot in August.

It looks especially bizarre next to the clearance summer merchandise. Lawn mowers and mosquito spray right next to wreaths and plastic Santas.

Dr. Sam

Submitted by ricklail on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 2:52pm.

Back when my mother in law died the first of August I went with my wife to find her dad a short sleeve dress shirt. There were none to be found. All the stores, Belks, Penney's, Dillard's, didn't have any short sleeves. Good gosh here it was 90+ degrees outside and they were selling winter stuff. She wound up buying a long sleeve and having my mom cut them off.

The way things are going here it looks like we are going to need the mosquito spray right up until Christmas. We've had hurricanes before and mosquito infestations after them but nothing like this. You walk outside and in just a few seconds your arms are covered in the little blood suckers.

I called them little blood suckers but there are more the size of dragon flies. I need me some purple martin or bat houses. They say they can eat twice their weight in mosquitoes daily. Irene might have destroyed some of their habitat. Haven't seem many around lately.

We did not have enough rain to grow anything but restless.

I really don't appreciate O'batears and Killer Keller politicizing the Bastrop fires. They wrought a lot of damage, but there have been many uncontrolled fires in Texas history that caused similar damage.

I told my father in law that it hasn't rained around Dallas most of the summer but let the ALCS start and it rains it out. Maybe if the Rangers make it to the World Series you'll get more rain.

Had a lot of fires around here this past summer but nothing like what you had in Texas. The problem around here are the peat bogs. Once it get underground it is hard to fight. Either wait for rain or just let it burn out.

If the Rangers make it to the series...

Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 8:02pm.

...maybe it will rain!

Having the Super Bowl certainly provided its share of precipitation, although not in the form or at the temperature most of Texas desired.

Seriously, I wonder just what kind of winter we will have. Every time this La Nina thing hits, Texas weather goes bonkers for a few years and then evens out. South Central Texas (Austin/San Antonio) generally doesn't get that much rain, but when we do it's a real nightmare of sudden thundershowers, flash floods and the inevitable idiots who think their cars will be able to ford through 36 inches of water.

Principal warns teachers: Don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sat, 10/15/2011 - 1:34pm.

Or Halloween. And especially Columbus Day. Anne Foley, the principal at Kennedy School in Somerville, Mass., sent an email to teachers warning them about celebrating Thanksgiving.

It's Massachusetts, of course. But can you imagine the arrogance of this dimwit? Teachers have already been told not to let students dress up for Halloween.

Salem, Massachusetts is just down the road. Maybe someone should take this so-called "educator" to the Salem center, dress her like the witch that she is, and let her think about it for a while?

What kind of history is being taught at this school, BTW? Who approves the textbooks? Who does the hiring, for crying out loud? And can anyone at this school be fired?

rick, I can't find the link again, but there was a story linked on Drudge earlier today or yesterday.

What's been scrapped is the free long-term care provision.

It seems they can't fund it unless they force  the 20-somethings,  who don't need it, to buy it.

And I guess even the Obama administration sees a problem with pulling that one off.

Long-term care. Here's the link.

But notice this: President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare reform suffered a major setback Friday as the administration pulled the plug on the assisted-living CLASS insurance program, after effectively admitting it was a boondoggle waiting to happen.

Here's my question: I thought this was law? If so, how can the administration arbitrarily pull the plug?  Do they have the authority to cancel parts of a law? I don't think so.

Because if they do -- then o'bama's 2012 replacement gets to pull the plug on the rest of it, right?

What's the real MSM message behind the 9.1% Unemployment?

Submitted by ThisnThat on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 6:58am.

The new [campaign donation] numbers suggest the nation's 9.1 percent unemployment rate doesn't automatically hurt the president, even as Republicans trying to make the jobless numbers a central issue in his re-election.

That's right. The AP has cast the first talking point about unemployment -- it's good for o'bama, and bad for the evil Republicans. Can you believe this? And here's the 2nd front: 7% unemployment now the norm. CBS Marketwatch is now touting "leading economists" as reporting this. This new meme will now allow the MSM and o'bama to declare next year's 8.5% unemployment rate as "approaching full employment". Just watch.

What won't the MSM do for o'bama these days?

Updated Monday: Fox & Friends brought someone on today to give o'bama a grade for his 1,000 days in office. The coolaid drinker was asked to defend his grade of B+. His response: "Well, even though we have 9.1% unemployment, it's within the margin of error of the 8% that he promised with the 2009 stimulus". Why does Fox News even put these people on the air?

Yeah...........my mother was worried about me - but not for those reasons!!!!

I"ve sipped on some scotch - that's about all I could do with it.

No killa

Submitted by Radical1979 on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 7:55pm.

I'm just able to confirm that you, a "he man", meaning straight guy, can drink a "chick drink", and still be straight. So if you can do it, so can my son. You know how dad's can worry about those things. Like I said, I tracked enough of my son's online activity when he was younger to know his dad can relax. The boy likes the female anatomy.

That's why God invented scotch. He knew we cajuns needed something for sipping. When I want something for drinking I break open some of my wine.

Pyccknn Ctahoapt, huh?

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 6:34pm.

I think that's pronounced Pukya Gutsout in Russian.

Thanks for the Costco tip, Blonde.   I'll pick it up this week for a trial run, if I get near the store.

Killa, if you like "chick drinks" and like coffee, try Patron Cafe. It is great straight or mixed.  Tastes like cafe con leche with tequilla in it if you mix it equal parts Patron Cafe, white creme de cocoa, and cream or half and half or skim milk depending on your tastes.  Over rocks is a great refreshing afternoon drink, or dessert after dinner. This is my ONLY "chick drink" weakness.

You, on the other hand, I'm beginning to worry about, Loretta.

NYET!!!! NYET!!!!! Jeez,

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 7:40pm.

NYET!!!! NYET!!!!! Jeez, bubba................I usually save this line for Keyser, but YOU'RE a sick man and YOU need help!!! Pukya Gutsout???? What about Ivanna Vomitoff!!! Actually, it's pretty good........

Actually, at one point in my idiotic life, I was into Kahlua and milk, until I drank too much one night, and lost the next day forever!!
My son was home from college one time, and I took him out to dinner. He ordered a White Russian, and when the waitress brought it, he looked at it, looked up at her, and told her he wouldn't even pour that on his cereal!!! He sent her back to the bar to make a REAL one!!! And he wasn't even 21 at the time - I guess they figured he was with me, so it was OK!!!

I'll admit to not being a he-man with regards to alcohol..........I save my testoserone for other activities. I can't do tequila, run, whiskey, gin, bourbon...........wine - jeez, wine does me in............champagne - WORSE!!! I can drink about 2 beers max, depending on the time and the weather. For some reason, vodka goes down smooth, and is easily disguised.

I hope I'm not an embarrassment to my gender!!!!

I was just rattling your chain, bubba.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 8:41pm.

Vodka is very healthy, as alcohol goes.

I used to drink nothing but Scotch for maybe 30 years until I was in my early fifties.  (That's only a little over 7 in doggie years.)  I had to stop drinking all together for over five years because the doctor had me on a medication that would tear your liver up, so he said NO alcohol or I would assume room temp, for sure.  That was the longest 5 years of my life!

Then he took me off the stuff, and i asked if I could drink again, and he said sure.  He also recommended that I never drink anything that wasn't crystal clear like vodka or gin.  He said that they were the easiest on the system, and caused no hangover like cloudy booze.  Damned if he wasn't correct.

I'll tell you, after 5 years without a drop, I was beginning to think that dying might be more fun.  What a drag!  I really don't drink that much, but I do love bars and the people who hang out in them.  They don't care who you are, or where you're from, or what you do.  Hell, I don't know more than about two last names in all the many people I know!  It just isn't important.

So you keep drinking those "girlie drinks," Killa.  Just please don't drink out of anything with a stem!

You mean we're not at 'room

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 8:53pm.

You mean we're not at 'room temperature' on a daily basis??? Shucks, I learn sumpin' new every day!!

Oh, I know you're jiving my okole - jiving (or as Boy Barry would pronouce it, when he is trying hard to sound like an authentic 'black' - jivin') is what we do, right?? How else do we get through the day - at room temperature??? I can be as serious as anybody...........but why would I want to be???

No stems, so straws, no umbrellas, so flowers, no pineapple slices, no colored swizzle sticks................they'd probably poke me in the nose or eye or something!!!

For you and Rad, Killa.

I went to Google and googled "killa," and this site came up. (just kidding)

http://livingwithballs.com/is-it-gay-ordering-fruity-drinks/

I was looking for one that I saw years ago where someone had surveyed bartenders who said that they could tell a person's "personality" (or lack thereof) by what they ordered.  Wish I could find that because it is really funny.

I know you're down there in the Keys somewhere.........I'm sure that a LOT of fruity drinks are inbibed all the time.

Oh, we have lots of fruity drinks, ..

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 9:12pm.

... and even more fruity drinkers!  This is, shall we say, a very, very, VERY diverse place.

There is a bar on the Eagle River in Colorado near Beaver Creek (always did like that name) called the Minturn Saloon.  It is very old and very famous.  The food is truly out of this world and the bar is unbelievable.

They have a T-shirt with a cartoon of John Wayne (one of their real customers back in the day) and a horse sitting at the bar.  The caption under the drawing says, "If John Wayne don't drink it, we don't make it."

If you're ever there, go!

Obama Wants a Nation of 'Snitches' - practices what he preaches

Submitted by Retired Geek on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 4:30pm.

Obama 'Snitched' to the United Nations Security Council in August 2010, claiming the United States has violated Human Rights.

The 29 page Report describes how the United States discriminates against the disabled, homosexuals, women, Native Americans, blacks, Hispanics and those who don’t speak English.

Obama appointed a Presidential Commission that held hearings across the United States between January and April 2010.

You will NOT believe who managed and administrated the report.

Obama is Afraid of Herman Cain

Submitted by Retired Geek on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 4:38pm.

"I think that someone like Cain could and would put Obama in his place. And though Obama would pounce on Cain, Obama's bark would be worse than his bite.

My guess is that Obama would feel weak around him; Obama would become the beta male he truly is deep inside, though he hides it. It's not a coincidence that Obama chose dominant black men as father figures such as Frank Marshall Davis and Rev. Wright."

And Cain would do it with

Submitted by killa37 on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 4:54pm.

And Cain would do it with style, eloquence, and class..............whereas Boy Barry would be petulant, immature, and classless - just like he always is.

I've noticed a story on Yahoo news - 'long ties to Koch brothers key to Can's campaign'. Hmmmmmmmm.....I can't remember ANY MSM story about Barama's 'ties' to Soros, Ayers, Wright, or any of the long laundry list of nefarious organizations and characters that he's been associated with.

Cain on Meet the Press

Submitted by Radical1979 on Sun, 10/16/2011 - 9:53pm.

I just watched Cain on Meet the Press. He is awesome. He doesn't back away from previous comments, he doesn't mess around issues, he just says it like he sees it. He was asked if he believes liberals are destroying the country. Cain replied that yes based on the evidence he sees, he does think liberals are destroying the country. The man has it.

Let's nominate him and get him in the White House.
