Huffington Post 'Creeped Out By Chris Matthews Overly-fawning' Love Letter to Bill Clinton

By Noel Sheppard | February 24, 2011 | 12:37

Rather surprisingly, the periously liberal Huffington Post was not pleased with Chris Matthews' love letter to Bill Clinton presented on MSNBC Monday.

In fact, Arianna Huffington's website was apparently "creeped out" by it:

Even die-hard Bill Clinton fans had to have been a little creeped out by Chris Matthews' overly-fawning docu-special, "President of the World: The Bill Clinton Phenomenon." While the former president's humanitarian efforts and his diplomatic reach are undeniably critical, even inspiring, with Matthews playing Clinton's personal hype man, town crier and super fan all rolled into one, it's kind of hard to focus on the message and not the messenger.

Yeah, and the messenger made such a fool of himself blowing kisses at a former president that a far-left website actually wrote about it with derision.

But HuffPo wasn't the only liberal outlet to express its discomfort with Matthews getting a thrill up his leg for someone other than Barack Obama.

As NewsBusters reported Monday, Washington Post tv critic Hank Stuever referred to MSNBC's special as a "mash note."

For those unfamiliar with the term, the Urban Dictionary defines mash note as "a love letter, particularly a hot and steamy one."

Makes you wonder if our 44th President is feeling like Matthews' special was more of a Dear John letter.

One Can Only Hope

Submitted by Bourbeau on Thu, 02/24/2011 - 12:43pm.

Hope that Comcast, the new owners of MSNBC, are equally appaled and give some thought to perhaps not renewing this wannabe news person's contract.  At some point, even a Comcast has to ask, why are we spending money for a last place outfit that has the program equivalent of a concrete mix, that when it settles, is forever last in everything it does.

Not only is it creepy...

Submitted by falcon on Thu, 02/24/2011 - 12:48pm.

...it's eerily reminiscent of propaganda films from China and the USSR extolling the virtues of former leaders.

And this is what passes for "programming" on MSNBC.

I know GE is thoroughly intertwined in our civilization and culture, but to the extent possible boycott all GE products. Light bulbs, coffee makers, anything with a GE trademark on it (regardless of whether it was actually made by GE or by some Chinese company as a subcontractor), don't buy. I know Dollar Tree still sells Sylvania light bulbs, and Home Depot and Lowe's sell Phillips.

Also, don't watch NBC. That includes Chuck, Community, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, NBC Nightly News, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Sunday Night Football (which will be a real hard thing for me to do, but not impossible). Or MSNBC, for reasons anyone should find obvious. Or even Universal Sports. I know Comcast is the majority owner now, but GE still holds a 49% share in the network.

Even though they try and cram the Socialist mindset down our throats, we can still vote with our wallets and our remote controls. And in doing so, perhaps someone will get the idea that, in our (at this moment) free market economy, unpopular ideas and products don't last long.

“I will not stand by and watch this great country destroy itself under mediocre leadership, that drifts from one crisis to the next, eroding our national will and purpose.” – Ronald Reagan, July 17, 1980.

Falcon,

In your list of GE products, you've somehow forgotten to include their latest Obama administration line. Not that anyone in their right mind buys anything these hucksters are selling in the first place.

Liberals ... we can't live with them, they couldn't survive without us ...

GE...with a bullet

Well, I'm buying their stock because that's what the overwhelming majority of analysts are recommending, and, ever the proud capitalist, I like to make money.

Try EARNING money sometime.

Submitted by NL207 on Thu, 02/24/2011 - 3:47pm.

The crony capitalists at GE are looters acting in collusion with government force to line their pockets.   Their leader, Jeffery Immelt, has a massive conflict of interest.  If he wants a government post, he should try resigning from GE and divesting himself of his interest in the company first.  Otherwise, I regard him as nothing more than a Bucanneer without a cutlass performing plunder on a scale that would make Blackbeard blush.

Like many people I read the posts here long before I started to post myself and although I didn't find your views to be conservative, (sometime's you got dangerously close), unlike some I didn't think you were strictly liberal either.

The dirty little secret is, in my opinion, you are really a provocateur, a bit of a contrarian and a good one at that. a capitalist to boot. Good job.

I thought these were "Please don't fire me," specials

Submitted by Red Jeep on Thu, 02/24/2011 - 1:22pm.

Matthews continued 2 hour a day presence on MSNBC getting zip ratings is a mystery to me. Everyone else on MSNBC gets more viewers than him.

MSNBC might as well run the "Lockup" shows they run Saturday night in Matthews' time slots. Last Saturday"Lockup" running 6- midnight beat Fox News and CNN in viewers.

Huffpo is upset only because they're afraid Matthews is transferring his worship from the Big 0 to Clintoon... as in Hilary by way of Bill, for the 2012 election primaries.

If you browse HuffPo at all, you would be aware bloggers, editorialists and commenters have frequently been critical of Obama on a number of issues.

I hope your laughter is not a sign of disbelief, because, if that is indeed the case, I'll have to wipe that smile right off your face.  ;-)

In fact, HuffPo has had numerous critical items about Obama--generally chiding him for moving toward the center or abandoning or compromising on measures popular with progressives, or for political blundering in general--but that there has been a good bit of criticism is undeniable.

G.E.+Obama=Fascism

Submitted by swim-r-sink on Fri, 02/25/2011 - 7:42am.

Jer, If you support G.E. all you are doing is promoting the fleecing of Americans. The reason why is simple not one thing in the G.E. Green Energy investment portfolio can stand on its on merit to make a profit Obamalini is trying more than less to take dictatorial control of American industry by heavily subsidising and mandating control of the entire production of energy in America through his investing with our money in the future Green Energy scam! Which will only drive energy prices up destroying chances of growth and recovery in our country. Just look at what has happened in countries in Europe like Spain to see what the end product looks like, its a disaster!  But what a lovely Symbiotic relation ship Obamalinis Big Government and corporations like G.E. will have together until the bubble finally busts. You think the leftist Democrats have had a cash cow with Unions? Just look at how much moola G.E. Immelt has shoveled to Obamalini already! You want to know why America is no energy independent? Its because the left for years has done everything imaginable to make it impossible to exploit our own resources, But as far as electric power production in America, don't let them kid you only 1.1% is produced from burning oil. And another lie is that China is advancing ahead of America in the production of going green.. What they don't say is all the green crap China makes goes to us! They are booming on new nuclear reactors Coal burning plants and hydro. Please take your money out of G.E. don't encourage the Bastards!
