Cynthia Tucker: Christie Won't Run Due to GOP 'Crazy Tax' - Birthers, Palin, Bachmann and AGW Deniers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Cynthia Tucker said Friday New Jersey Governor Chris Christie won't run for president next year because "he realizes there’s still a crazy tax that a Republican nominee has to pay at this point."
This in Tucker's view stated on the syndicated "Chris Matthews Show" includes cozying up to the birthers, coddling Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, and denying manmade global warming (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CYNTHIA TUCKER, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION: This is not the right time for Chris Christie because he realizes there’s still a crazy tax that a Republican nominee has to pay at this point. It’s absolutely true. You have to cozy up to the birthers. You have to coddle Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann. You have to deny human causes of climate change. And that’s not who Chris Christie is. At some point in his career as a prosecutor, he supported gun control.
If he looks out there, and in fact the Republican field doesn’t excite people, and he feels that average base of voters are ready to accept a guy from the Eastern Coast who’s more moderate, he might get in. But now is not that moment.
The Huffington Post's Howard Fineman didn't disagree:
HOWARD FINEMAN, HUFFINGTON POST: The test this time according to that same pollster I was talking about who has worked for Chris Christie is that who is going to be the nastiest, most effective, and most plausible anti-Obama candidate. Because that’s going to be – you talk about the crazy test – well, the catnip test is going to be who can really take Obama on and look like the biggest critic of Obama. And Chris Christie by nature is not exactly that kind of guy.
Substitute host Norah O'Donnell seemed pleased saying, "Alright. The crazy tax and the catnip test."
She wasn't the only left-wing media member enthralled by such insulting terms. The perilously liberal Tommy Christopher over at Mediaite also gave Tucker two enthusiastic thumbs up:
On Sunday Morning’s The Chris Matthews Show, panelist Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal Constitution may have coined a phrase that will help to define the 2012 Republican presidential field...I don’t know if Tucker is the first to use the phrase, but it is whip-smart, elegant, and more bumper sticker-friendly than Whip ‘em Out Wednesday. The difference, of course, is that the “crazy tax” exposes things about Republicans that most voters won’t find all that attractive.
"Crazy tax" is "whip-smart" and "elegant"? Seems a metaphysical certitude Christopher wouldn't feel that way if it was used against his beloved Democrats.
But this segment demonstrated something far more important: the Left are deeply afraid of Christie.
Why else would they be trying to talk him out of running?

Demonizing Palin - Fabication and exposed Hoax. They so fear her, they have no choice.
Global Warming - Fabrication and exposed Hoax. They are so invsted in the dogma, they have no way out.
"BIrther" - Fabrication and exposed Hoax. It is not about location of birth, it is about who he was born to. They fear the discussion on that point.
The leftist progressives are incapable of laying facts on the table that support their position and they cannot refute facts put to them smashing their positions so they fabricate labels and themes in order to deflect their inability to demonstrate the justice and the honor in their own positions.
They do not seek freedom or Liberty, they seek tyranny and control. And the people of this nation are finally starting to figure that out. These leftist can group think all they want to, they can try to pick both sides canididates al they want to, but each election cycle that passes they are less and less effective at doing so. The media elites were shocked at the last election and I thin they will be moreso come the next one.
The civility fiction

Why on earth does anyone on the Right restrain their language when they have to deal with nonsense like this?
To be a Republican is to pay a crazy tax? And now Tucker is trying to own Chris Christie by suggesting he's a secret Democrat (he supported gun control!) but he's cow-towing to lunatic Righties?
This is self-serving fiction at its purest.
Apparently there are those on the right---

Compassionate Conservatism allowed the Republican Congress to spend too much and allowed the left to keep and expand the policies that led us to the financial crisis. So, while one must maintain their own level decorum in order to maintain their self-respect as a member of the public I am no longer quick to judge when civility breaks down.
Well put, Agnostic---

"-while one must maintain their own level (of) decorum in order to maintain their self-respect -".
While I disagree, for the most part, with those conservatives who desire the maintaining of civility at all costs in the back and forth discussions, I fault no one for their opinion on how to treat with liberals in debate as I respect their right to their belief and the practice of same.
Provided, of course, that they allow me the same consideration.

Taxing is a liberal thing. By 2012 liberals will be an endangered species with Obama in the White House.
Conservatives, Christie or otherwise, are about immediate solutions and renewed hope for the future of America.
Just like the 2010 smack down of Obama's radical agenda, and in turn democrat party, 2012 is already decided in the hearts and minds of the vast majority of Americans.
Obama hasn't got a muslim terrorist's chance at the Jersey Shore of being elected to another term as president.
The same goes for what's left of the democrat party.
Liberals ... we can't live with them, they couldn't survive without us ...

Well why don't we call the democrats by their historical name? Considering their lock on identity politics where their supporters are not individuals but only members of groups such as Blacks, Latino's, Gays and union members.
So we should call democrats by their historical name.....plantation owners.
......and as Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas can tell you they are just as ruthless now as before about chasing down and whipping runaways.

If we want Christie in that Oval Office badly enough, we'll draft his butt and drag him in there if necessary.
Times such as these demand leadership. We've seen nothing close to that from this pigeon in the WH.
I call him a pigeon because adult pigeons regurgitate food into their squab's mouth.

I didn't realize Cynthia

I didn't realize Cynthia Tucker was such close friends with Chris Christie. Was this "insider information" something she dug up on background for her upcomign Chris Christie autobiography?
I'm doing something similar with Barack Obama. Obama has told me privately that, of course, he's a radical leftist but he was concerned during the campaign that if people found out he had socialist sympathies, he wouldn't get five votes ("including my mother's," he joked). When I asked President Obama about his relgious conversion he flashed that wide grin, "Come now, I think you and I both know I'm not the least bit religious. I do that for flyover country." When I asked him about the Reverend Wright sermons, President Obama confided he'd actually helped Reverend Wright with the 'god-damn America' line. And, finally, the reason Obama won't release his birth certificate? He played coy, but intimated that, though he is a U.S. citizen, there was a particular bit of information on it that he never wants the world to see. I suspect it has something to do with the absence of a Y chromosome.
Gee, Cynthia Tucker, talking out of my ass is a whole lot of fun. But, I suspect, my conjecture is slightly closer to reality than yours!
By the way....does it occur
Submitted by shannon76 on Sun, 02/20/2011 - 9:19pm.
By the way....does it occur to anyone that maybe half or more of the rumors about Sarah Palin are based on the same sort of gibberish psychobabble that Cynthia Tucker vomited? And this information is then taken for gospel amongst MSM journalists?
Example, If a random blogspot blogger posts that he suspects Palin is attracted to Harry Reid, then F. Chuck Todd will go on MSNBC, appear on Morning Joe, and say, "well, ya know Joe, I have it on good authority from a source inside the Palin camp, that the reason she doesn't criticize Senator Reid directly is because she's actually quite attracted to him. So, a little bit of insider information there..."
I mean, I can't believe anything these people say. But if Diane Sawyer, Stephalopoloous, and Couric report it, then the "4%" wishy-washy electorate will buy it and swing an election.

I'm not at all surprised when you get a bunch of leftards in a room together and they start talking to one another, they come up with a big pile. *sigh* They are so far from reality that it's stunning. My only consolation in reading this stupidity is that it was on MSNBC, which means, frankly, that only the participants, Newsbusters, and people whose TVs are stuck on the channel know about it.

Since when did this cut rate excuse for a journalist become an expert on anything except the contents of her own toilet? She is just another liberal clown trying to influence the Republican party's choices of Presidential candidates. Get a clue, Cynthia. Of course it isn't. Christi just became Governor, give him about 5 more years and then we'll see. He has a commitment to his constituents, one that he will NOT abandon. Only a liberal would run for President in their first year in office, for THEY are only committed to themselves.
