Hillary Clinton Calls Giffords Shooter 'An Extremist'

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has weighed in on the shootings in Tucscon telling an audience in the United Arab Emirates, "We have extremists in my country" (video follows with partial transcript and commentary):

Look, we have extremists in my country. A wonderful, incredibly brave young woman Congress member, Congresswoman Giffords, was just shot by an extremist in our country. We have the same kinds of problems. So rather than standing off from each other, we should work to try to prevent the extremists anywhere from being able to commit violence. [...]

The extremists and their voices, the crazy voices that sometimes get on the TV, that's not who we are, that's not who you are, and what we have to do is get through that and make it clear that that doesn't represent either American or Arab ideas or opinions.

So, Jared Lee Loughner is an extremist? How so?

From what has been uncovered so far, this is a deeply-disturbed young man that had a grudge against Giffords.

Calling him an extremist only feeds into the media's pathetic goal of trying to politicize these shootings in order to silence conservatives.

But what should we expect from the woman that coined the phrase Vast Right-wing Conspiracy?

Thanks, Clinton, that's just what they wanted to hear.

I don't think anybody should die because of their bad grammar.
Apparently the loser in Tucson was that extreme.

If she was speaking to the same audience after the Fort Hood shooting, does anyone think she would have said the same thing? I most certainly don't.

Noel.. ahh exremist statesmanship

Submitted by Gary Hall on Mon, 01/10/2011 - 7:04pm.

.. thanks for the picture of the true extremist.

It's an extreme view - this want to use this completly not yet understood horror of this young man (the shooter) for political manuvering, without any evidence.

In fact, it would be an extreme move for Hillary here to be holding him up as an example of "extremists," in this country at this early moment, if there was evidence that he was connected to some far right, or left-wing, group.

Further, even if all of what Hillary wants to see established turns out to be the case, it is still an extreme (extremely wrong) for the Secretary of State of the United States to be standing in a foreign land making any public comment of this sort.

Hillary is just following her boss's lead.

Submitted by motherbelt on Mon, 01/10/2011 - 8:00pm.

Hillary is just following the example of her boss and the America haters.

They  believe in moral equivalence; they can't criticize another country without apologizing for their own.   Who was it that apologized for our country's supposed lack of equality for women, to a government that literally subjugates them?  Wish I could remember; I will go do some searching.

It is apparently the policy of this administration to berate our own country abroad, as a symbol of how humble and imperfect we are. And Hill is just doing what she's expected to do.  Not that I think she's being forced....

Update:  It was none other than the Obama administration, confessing....to the UN!!  -  our deplorable record on human rights (not specifically women's rights).

As I said, she is carrying out this administration's policy.

America and the Arab world.

Submitted by ant on Tue, 01/11/2011 - 2:01am.

America and the Arab world. Let's see, a man with what appears to be a long list of symptoms pointing to mental problems acts alone in carrying out a senseless shooting. As compared to, oh I don't know, a mob of people longing to kill a Christian woman who dared to fetch water for some moon-demon worshippers or a mob of men unable to control their lusts who stone an 18-year old to death for being seen with the wrong type of guy. Yep, that's about equal,Shillary. She must have sucked at the game Concentration.
