Eleanor Clift: New Tea Partiers in House 'Going to Get Their Hearts Broken' in Washington
Newsweek's Eleanor Clift on Friday said the newly-elected Tea Party members in the House are going to get their hearts broken when they get to the nation's capital.
In her view, expressed on PBS's "The McLaughlin Group," this will happen "as they come up against all the forces in Washington, the same forces that Barack Obama came up against" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ELEANOR CLIFT, NEWSWEEK: The Tea Party caucus in the House has 43 members. They've elected 41 new members, and they're all going to get their hearts broken as they come up against all the forces in Washington, the same forces that Barack Obama came up against.

Needless to say, Clift and her ilk have been selling the Tea Party short for over twenty months, and will continue to do so until one of its ranks becomes Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, or - dare I say - President.
At least her negativity concerning the strongest movement in politics today remains consistent.

The conservative has infinitely more compassion for his fellow man than the liberal can ever dream of having. It's really quite simple.
Conservatives respect the freedom of the individual, whereas liberals want to do everything for the person, like a mother who never wants her children to grow up.
Conservatives understand that self-respect can't be found with a handout check. Liberals fear self-sufficiency, because it means they can't play Santa Claus with other people's stuff.
Conservatives understand that love (that is, true compassion) never comes from government, but only from sources that the government cannot exploit and can never control.
Conservatives understand that charity requires personal sacrifice and involvement, something not part of the liberal's equation: have government take your money before you even see it, give it to people you don't know, and require nothing of the receipient.
Wherever liberalism is tried, it encourages hate (class warfare), jealousy (class warfare), envy (class warfare), divisions and racism (racial favortism/bigotry of low expectations), government dependency, materialism, immorality, and in the end, societal dissolution. It is worth noting that no government begins liberal. Liberalism is always the late-stage parasite upon a succesful conservative enterprise.

"as they come up against all the forces in Washington, the same forces that Barack Obama came up against" "The same forces"? Who or what is that? Is she referencing some dark invisible cabal fiction writers are fond of writing about? Since they thwarted the liberal Obama and will "break" conservatives hearts, does this mean that the unseen power Clift references is comprised of hardcore evil moderates? America and her history are the guiding light for the new comers to DC.
There will be plenty of surprises-however-America will prevail-we shall never let liberal radicals subvert the Constitution, religion-and our way of life.
Tea Party is just a reaction to the wake up call.Dismiss all you want-we are not hiding nor being quiet

I serious doubt that Allen West will be intimidated. In fact, he has already sent a letter to Cantor complaining about the few work days and the taxpayer funded family comgressional retreats to Williamsburg

He's kind of disgusted by this lame duck Congress....and had this to say in his latest constituent e-mail:
In closing, it is becoming apparent to Americans that this idea of "lame duck" Congress is very disconcerting. I believe that as we go forward, we should revisit this practice, as we cannot afford to have individuals weigh in on critical issues for our country, while they are no longer stakeholders in the decisions they make. Once the voting electorate has repudiated their direct representative through ballot referendum, they should most expeditiously depart.
And yes, that includes me as well, if I fail my constituency. No matter what, you can rest assured I would never walk off the stage at my own briefing and abdicate my role as a leader to anyone.
Don't worry, Eleanor.....I think the Tea Party Congressmen/women know exactly why they were sent to D.C. I'll believe in them until they prove me wrong.

Tea Party Pebbles
Submitted by miss911ninja on Sun, 12/19/2010 - 8:32pm.
Besides the Tea Partiers who will be in Washington, there are a great bunch of new Governors as well. Nikki Haley is a case in point. At a recent meeting with BHO and other Governors, she asked him point blank if he'd be willing to repeal Obamacare. When he said no, she pressed him for his willingness to allow states to opt out of certain provisions. So the Tea Partiers are going to be like a pebble in Obama's shoe.....I mean loafer.

There's that pendulum swing, however the system is mounted on a deck that has been listing to the port/left for forty years. Leftward forces never let it swing back to "normal" just a tiny bit less, each time, like da-kine heat the frog.

she also said (in an article online today) that a congressman admitting he read the 2,000-page healthcare bill was "heresy to Tea Party purists." that's right: that's how they've interpreted our opposition to the bill. they think we didn't want Congress to read it. she doesn't understand that not reading the bill was one of the things we were most mad ABOUT!
if that doesn't tell you how wrong she is about all things tea-party-related, nothing will.

It makes me ill but I reluctantly agree with Eleanor Clift. Even if we won control of the Senate, I seriously doubt we could control this run amuck government. Can Congress control the Federal Reserve? Can Congress stop Net Neutrality? Can Congress stop SEIU? There is a reason why Washington is the richest area in this country. I can’t help but feel that the Tea Party is simply rearranging deck chairs on the USA Titanic. I fear that our recent win is too little and too late. When the economy really goes south, and it will, who do you think voters will blame?

She fails to recognize we are a center right country with at least 40% self identifying as conservatives and BHO chose to govern (rule) from the far left which is against the people in the middle and on the right and that makes a majority. If BHO had the best interest of the country in mind with overwhelming majorities in congress and senate don't you think he would have had no proble whatsoever? It's the agenda sweetheart.
