Andrea Mitchell Names Tea Party Person of the Year, Two Others Pick Assange
NBC's Andrea Mitchell this weekend named the Tea Party as her Person of the Year.
Two others on the syndicated "Chris Matthews Show" disgustingly chose WikiLeaks' Julian Assange (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Welcome back, our big question this week: who is your nominee for Person of the Year, David?
DAVID IGNATIUS, WASHINGTON POST: It's painful to say this but I would say Julian Assange the head of WikiLeaks. I’m sorry if I took your person.
HELENE COOPER, NEW YORK TIMES: Did he steal my person?
IGNATIUS: The release of the WikiLeaks documents is one of those game changing events about public information and the way the world works, and I, people will be talking about it 50 years from now.
MATTHEWS: Yes?
COOPER: What he said.
IGNATIUS: Isn't that right, Assange?
ANDREA MITCHELL: I'm not going to say Julian Assange. I would say because of the midterm elections, the House going Republican, the Senate not going Republican, the Tea Party. They’ve changed the debate on deficit reduction. They’ve got, you’ve got Ron Paul now in charge of monetary policy from the House. They have changed politics for now in Washington.
MATTHEWS: Mike Duffy.
MICHAEL DUFFY, TIME MAGAZINE: I'm not telling you. I voted early by absentee, I haven't told my wife, can't tell you. But tune in Wednesday, find out. It's a great parlor game.
MATTHEWS: I think it’s Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader who forced the President to the left on every issue from healthcare to the stimulus. He made him into a left-wing president because of Republican policy. It was brilliant. It allowed the Republicans to have a brilliant political year. I’m not sure it was in the country’s interest, but he made the big difference this year.
The Tea Party as Person of the Year really makes a lot of sense. Likely no other entity had a bigger impact on politics this year than this movement.
But given how the liberal media have beaten on this group and its members since day one, would Time dare give them such an honor?

Outside of us news junkies, government workers, and the media the Wikileaks story is not even talked about. All that will happen is new ways of governmental communicating will be put in place and the Wikileaker espionage will stop. If any people are talking about it 50 years from now it will be trivia buffs.

Submitted by MidAmerica on Sun, 12/12/2010 - 4:35pm.
The biggest story of the year is the death of Progessive/Liberalism. It's a worldwide meltdown and the American Tea Party is just an offshoot of that meltdown.
We still have Progressive/Liberals and they will still bedevil us because they had a two part utopian dream they tried to cast upon the world. The first was an egalitarian world where everything was shared equally and fairly as mandated by the government. This idea of freedom from personal responsibility for the status of ones life was the political opiate they hooked the common citizen with. The second part was by promising the citizens a paradise on earth the citizens would reward them with eternal governance and unlimited power to regulate the smallest detail of society.
OK.... so they can't give everybody eternal bliss but they haven't given up on the second part of their dream which is eternal power for themselves. That is our next challenge. Rooting out and booting out these parasites that feed off of and destroy personal freedom.
It's a mistake to ever count them out ---

Many thought the liberals were were dead in '94, but they didn't die.
But I would say the story of the year is the resurgence of conservatives from the grass roots up. At least Andrea Mitchell has the honesty to recognize it; the others are still in denial.

Well as I stated, the part where they seek ultimate power is still in play but they can no longer masquerade their lust for power by claiming they are doing it to make the world a more fair place, that they seek social justice. Now they are just typical power hungy individuals who will do whatever it takes to gain power over other people.

You give Mitchell way too much undeserved credit. She probably didn't want to be the third to pick Ass-onge so she simply repeated something she read that morning on a Pop-Tart box or a package of instant oatmeal. She is an old school ( everybody in one room ) staunch liberal partisan who goes out of her way, on a daily basis, to disparage conservatives in the most petty of ways.

Progressive/Liberalism got a paper cut in the 2010 election. Heck, we didn't even get all the liberals out of the Republican party (e.g. Lisa Murkowski from Alaska). To kill the liberals/progressives, we will have to have about 20-30 years straight of conservative elections, get all of the conservatives out of the executive bureaucracy, and replace most of the liberal judges with conservatives.
That being said, we DID inflict a painful paper cut. We need to continue to use the outcome to wound them on top of the cut again and again this next two years.

I think it's more like a razor-knife cut........not big or deep, but pretty bloody, very painful, and not easy to heal. Maybe if we keep up the pressure, it can get a viral infection and really do some damage...............there are still some 'Republicans' that need to go, or at least 'get their heads straight', in light of what we are demanding out of them. Given this weeks possible 'deal' with Boy Blunder..........I'm still not super optimistic...........and I don't care how bad the loony left is freaking out about it either..........at the risk of sounding selfish, I'm worried about MY behind!!!
Agreed.

Better analogy. However, the point is that we need to clean up OUR act as well, and keep the pressure on. Let's call it "Operation Hemmorhage" with the goal of bleeding the liberals to death by inflicting many such cuts now and in the future. If you think of it, that is the way that they are trying to get rid of us, so it is poetic justice.

No it isn't just the election that has severly hurt the Liberals. It is the financial meltdown across the world as governments have run out of money. It is money that the Liberals have used as bribes to buy votes so they can aquire power. Without gobs of money Liberals cannot sell their freedom robbing programs. The Tea Party was in response to the financial excesses of Liberalism. The Tea Partiers are demanding that the government stop stealing their future. In Europe where people accepted the Liberals devils bargain they are rioting at having the Golden Goose exposed as a fraud. Liberalism has been shown to be a failure and now they must figure out how they will get their power fix without buying their way into power. All they really have left is their usual back-up cards which are lies, biased media, biased education, biased judiciary, personal destruction of opponants, voter fraud, and Liberal governmental departments (to create Liberal friendly regulations).
Liberalism without walking around money for the locals is now just an organized crime organization seeking to infiltrate the government for it's own power and aggrandizement.
Liberalism is a parasitic political system. It is a parasite because it must attach itself to a host in order to survive because it cannot sustain itself alone.
There ya go sir.

I've said if TIME lived up to the "intent" behind their "Man of the Year" it would be the Tea Party voter, but they would never chose properly, despite for at least 11 out of the past 12 months it was "tea party tea party tea party tea party tea party........."

American Exceptionalism Causing Liberal Breakdowns
Submitted by Retired Geek on Sun, 12/12/2010 - 5:16pm.
America is Exceptional, in fact America is the most Exceptional Nation in the History of Mankind.
Anyone that wants too in America - can be Healthy, Wealthy and Wise, through Hard Work and Self-Determination.
This is what 'Rankles' many people in the United States and many people in other Countries - how can America be so Exceptional in Creating Wealth, in Technology, Medicine and Culture?
The reason is simple, America has Historically had the most 'Limited Government in the History of Mankind' - the most 'Freedom of the Individual Citizen' - the most 'Opportunity' for the Individual Citizen to achieve whatever their God given skills can achieve.
Liberal Progressives are having a Mental and Emotional breakdown, including their Leader Barack Obama, because of the results of the 2010 Elections.
These America Haters believed they had finally succeeded in Destroying America, but their dreams were destroyed on one single Election Day.
I have watched this video several times and it is the most uplifting Message I have ever heard.
The Video is about America's Exceptionalism.
Watch this Video and it will give you Strength, Hope and Courage to continue the War that was declared against America by the 'Hate America' Liberal Progressives and their Marxist Dictator Wannabe - Barack Obama.
This 'American Exceptionalism Video is only 11 minutes and 50 seconds long.

Nothing that you see on MSNBC can be believed because it is wholly owned by the Obama Administration.
