Parker-Spitzer Ratings Down 35% From Campbell Brown Last Year

By Noel Sheppard | December 01, 2010 | 11:38

It appears Americans aren't very interested in watching a disgraced former Democrat governor discuss politics with a Republican In Name Only columnist.

There's no way to read the November ratings numbers for CNN's "Parker-Spitzer" other than this experiment has failed and failed miserably:

CNN’s 8pm show Parker / Spitzer November ratings were well below those of Campbell Brown, the show it replaced, from the same month a year ago. The show is in fourth place for average viewership, and is a distant fourth in the news advertiser target adults 25-54 demo.

Parker / Spitzer was down 28% in the cable news target adults 25-54 demo, and down 35% in average viewership compared to Campbell Brown’s November last year.

In November, "P-S" averaged only 453,000 viewers a day. 453,000! This means the "O'Reilly Factor" is actually getting 3 million more viewers in the same time slot.

Really adding insult to injury, MSNBC "Countdown" reruns at 11PM typically got more viewers in November than "P-S."

The folks at CNN must be so proud of their new show.

*****Update: Parker is apparently very angry at Spitzer and is threatening to leave the show.

Screw that RINO Kathleen Parker. I'm not a huge Palin fan, but I don't think its her job as a conservative columnist and a supposed Republican to trash another Republican woman constantly. She's acting just like alot of the other media whores. We all know Spitzer is a scumbag puke piece of sh*t so thats no suprise that nobody wants to listen to his liberal drivel. CNN just doesn't get what viewers want to watch.

Parker Palinized!!!

Submitted by libBuster on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 5:37pm.

According to the NY Post RINO and noted Palin hated Katheen Parker feels like she is getting the Sarah Palin treatment from Spitzer and the producedrs of her show.  The Post reports the RINO   is spitting mad at Spitzer.

The story contains the usual statements of support one sees just before the aze falls. Cancellation looms.

Libbuster - awesome comment! I couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me about the 'statements of support' I was reading today and yesterday. And that was just it - they're the fawning, gushing, slobbering statements of support that you see RIGHT BEFORE the axe falls. Good catch!

Can't you just see the excuses CNN will make as to why this show failed harder than Ed Schultz trying to walk nonchalantly past a buffet?

What a shock!!!

Who would have thought a corrupt liberal Governor and a Rhino wouldn't sell on tv?  I guess that Rod Blagojavich/Meghan McCain hour is off the table.

Hey CNN.  Here's my idea.  Give the spot to John Zieglar who easily wipped the floor with these two just weeks ago.

No Blago/McCain? CRAP!

Just imagine the audio portion of that show - MEE-gan with her sing-song valley-girl pattern of stupidities with Blago's North Side "northern cities vowel shift" ramblings providing the harmony. What a symphony that would have been.

Have you seen Miss Piggy

Submitted by Van Halen on Thu, 12/02/2010 - 1:54am.

Have you seen Miss Piggy McCain lately? I don't think there's a camera angle big enough to get her all in?
And besides, it'll be the same thing as Parker Spitzer - All Palin All The Time.

Miss Piggy and Kathleen Parker suffer from ferocious Palin envy. Sarah brings in millions when she endorses a candidate, she generally picks great candidates, she has brought the Conservative message to the forefront of the national discussion, she has put the Obama administration on defense more than once, she has personally made a list of Democrats she wanted sent home and got most, if not all of it fulfilled, she's helped send RINOs home, she has a #1 and #2 book, gave TLC record ratings, is a general pain in the ass to Liberals who are forced to talk about how irrevelevant she is every. Single. Day.

Kathleen got some goofy award from her Leftwing friends, went on this show and fell flat on her face while not fooling any of us that she was a 'Conservative'. Miss Piggy wrote a book that went largely nowhere, then got a job at the Daily Beast, home of a bunch of washed-up Palin haters. Both of them are in a downward spiral. No wonder they hate Palin so much.

CNN - not ready for prime-time

Submitted by pilsener on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 12:05pm.

Parker-Spitzer is a terrible show. But their ratings are "normal" for the CNN prime-time line-up.

The once dominant leader in cable news needs to change all of its management and production teams. The PBS political shows are more stimulating than anything in the incredibly boring CNN line-up.

The Hannity and Colmes model

Submitted by Ashrak on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 12:19pm.

The Hannity and Colmes model is what they went after here. The problem is that they were absent a true blue conservative. In other words, they tried to fake it and folks ain't buying it.

Folks flocked to Fox News because they were looking for an alternative to the endless unchallenged leftist liberal mantra. CNN could make end roads by actually keeping this format but filling the positions with real representatives arguing each side, each point of view, honestly and from real principle actually held.

People are smarter than CNN execs like to give credit for. If they really want to be seen as "in between" Fox and MSNBC, which is what they are trying to do, then they actually have to be between them.

Now, I suppose some would argue they tried this and it didn't work but I hope they realize why it didn't. Faking it isn;t ever gonna do it. Personally, I would love to see Fox News get some real competition. It would make Fox not take viewership gained for granted.

Imagine if CNN had let Glenn Beck do at CNN what he is doing over at Fox News?!  One would think that mistake alone would be enough for them to see the error of their ways. I don't know, maybe they are so married to their progessive ways toward Communism that they would rather fade into oblivion than actually compete with Fox News.

That an individual right exists requires that some policy positions be removed from the table of debate.

I guess the only thing left

Submitted by Barack_must_go..... on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 12:44pm.

I guess the only thing left for them to do if they want to boost ratings is scrap the fake news show and start recreating what Spitzer used to pay $2,000 to entertain himself for an hour.

I think his cohost quite nicely fits the part of sexy, potty mouthed  high priced prostitute. They've already got that nice table to work on, just add a dimmer switch on the lights and a Barry White eight track playing in the background and they're all set.

Not that I would be interested in a reality show like this, it'd be for all the depraved Obama / Olbermann liberal types.

Bring back 'Crossfire'...

Submitted by Sasquatch on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 12:47pm.

I'm talking about the ORIGINAL show, not the watered-down, devolved version that it became in its later years. Hopefully I'm not the only one here old enough to remember Braden/Buchanan duking it out every night! Not sure who would fit well in their shoes today, though...maybe a roating panel of guest moderators?

Submitted by jimbo297 on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 4:31pm.

Said it before elsewhere, but I'll say it again to anybody who cares:  Until they take this creep off the air, I will not watch CNN, at any time of day.  I used to pop into the Situation Room to watch a bit of Volf or get lost for a few minutes in Anderson Vanderbilt's dreamy, focused gaze...BUT NO MORE!  Never again, until they remove this vile piece of rotten excrement from their payroll.  The whole lot of them has been tainted since they work for a company that would choose to ignore the unspeakable, unprintable actions of this truly contemptible sleazehole.

What the heck were they thinking? Giving this guy a shot at credibility.  Why has it taken so long for the message to seep in that NOBODY wants to see this guy anywhere but in a prison jumpsuit hammering on boulders.  He has an opinion about something???  WHO CARES? He should be dead!
