Media Mostly Ignore Gore Admitting He Only Supported Ethanol Mandates to Help His Presidential Ambitions
On Monday, NewsBusters was the first American media outlet to report Nobel laureate Al Gore's admission that he only supported ethanol mandates in the '90s because he thought it would help his presidential ambitions.
As it turns out, with very few exceptions, no major news divisions thought this was at all important:
- Zero coverage by broadcast television networks
- Zero coverage by cable news networks
- Zero coverage by wire services with the exception of the original article at Reuters Africa
Of the major newspapers, the New York Times reported this story, but apparently only at its website and not in print. The same is true of the Washington Post.
FoxNews.com also reported this story, and even quoted from NewsBusters' piece.
From what I can tell, the only major newspaper that reported this in its print edition was Investor's Business Daily.
I guess a Nobel laureate admitting he only supported an environmental initiative when he was Vice President because he thought it would help him become president just isn't newsworthy when that person happens to be a beloved Democrat.
Why aren't I the slightest bit surprised?

They HAD to ignore the Flatulent one................they bought into it and backed him on it. Plus, it's more newsworthy to talk about the Teabagger's attempt at hi-jacking the Dancing with the Stars show.............
To concede that any of Gore's mantra was politicized . . .

. . . is to cast doubt about his entire schtick, and suggest that perhaps the AGW skeptics were right afterall.
The Green-Left and its MSM echo can't give in without the whole house of carbon-credit cards collapsing.

Hmmm. I get your point. And by the same token, all thoughtful people need to ignore the Liberal Media.

Gore's admission not only discredits his actions but the environmental movement itself. Can't have that can we?

Just like he only persued Global Warming in his private jet just to fatten his personal bank account.
Since the truth came out about his so called experts study being skewed last year, he's been conspicuously absent from the world stage on this matter.
Good thing he invented the world wide web so many years ago before he became just another left wing bullshit artist......right?

Well, I suppose that's true since most of the media backed his BS, but that's ok, it was reported on Fox News and that got to more viewers than most of the media has.

media, will make every effort to bring to the public's attention only those news stories that either promote their leftist agenda and their fellow leftist members, or show the opposition (those on the right, and anyone else who opposes their agenda) in an unfavorable light.
Conservative talk radio and new media that is either conservative or leans to the right (NewsBusters, Fox News, WSJ editorial page, Heritage Foundation, AEI, etc.) also have a primary agenda: to tell the truth and expose the lies, omissions and hypocrisy of the left. In performing this function, a more complete, fair and balanced account of a newsworthy event is revealed.
Speaking of hypocrisy, here is a VIDEO of Al Gore speaking at the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on January 28, 2009 in support of sugarcane ethanol.
Maybe Al should be forced to reimburse all those whose engines

Hell no to ethanol

I have refused to put any ethanol gas in my truck(accidentally put some in before I saw the label, wasn't much, filled it with normal gas at another station quick which should have diluted it enough, 25 gallon tank) but finding normal gasoline is getting harder and harder to do. Too many cities have been doing ordinances decreeing that gas stations had to be 10-15% ethanol. Last time I stayed in Houston for a weekend about 3 years ago, I found that out the hard way and drove myself to vapors before I found normal gasoline.
So now that the admission was made, and it'll be spread far and wide, will that be enough to get the refineries to STOP making ethanol for consumer gas(and forcing consumers to get it) and bring back the normal gasoline which is by far better than ethanol? I seriously doubt it. The Cult of Global Warming is a hard cancer to kill off.
Killing the mass production of ethanol will bring the price of gas bad down and will eliminate the need to make those stupid flex fuel vehicles which are more expensive to make and buy.
That's what I'd like to see happen. I know....pipe dream.

I'm sensing a rather large class-action lawsuit coming down the pike.
Ethanol destroys (or at least severely shortens the service life) of gasoline engines that were not designed to use it (along with some that were).
I don't think much of trial lawyers, as they are almost as big a drag on our economy as taxes, but this would be one massive legal action I would support.
Maybe they can nail Al's lying ass for the coming food shortages, too. I mean, have you noticed that food prices across-the-board have been inching up of late?
Thankfully I live in east Cobb Co., Georgia, one of the most conservative areas on the planet, so I don't have to worry too much about hitting my neighborhood QuikTrip one morning and being forced to put that destructive ethanol crap in my car.
Then again, given the tyrannical nature of the hideous Obama administration from Hell, who knows?

engine damage
Submitted by jon_torlin on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 12:53am.
I read somewhere that repairs to engine damage caused by ethanol can cost at a minimum around $1200. And then it depends on the vehicle, especially since it involves the fuel injection system.
That's a lot of damage.
And yean, I have noticed the food prices have been slowly going up bit by bit, though the HEBs and Wal-Mart grocery stores have been trying to keep the prices low by having sales more often than usual. The store specials and coupons becoming more readily available than ever have helped a lot too.(HEB has some really nice in-store coupons that they do, those in Texas would be familiar with those yellow HEB coupons that they have depending on the season and etc)
Tyrants in the WH......*sigh* and they said it could never happen here.
