Andrew Sullivan: At Fox News You Get Rewarded and Promoted If You Say Something Bigoted
Andrew Sullivan on Friday said that if you say something bigoted on Fox News, you get rewarded, promoted, and celebrated.
As the topic of NPR's firing of Juan Williams was raised on the syndicated program "The Chris Matthews Show," Sullivan was far more critical of the cable news station than the radio network (video follows with transcript and commentary):
Unfortunately, host Chris Matthews opted not to play some of the bigoted statements made over the years by other NPR personalities that have gone totally unpunished thereby making Sullivan's point totally absurd.
If he needed some examples, he could have easily checked our archives.

And, of course, he is exactly what NPR likes so much in a person -- a Gay Catholic who speaks his mind -- constantly and consistantly against conservatives and traditional cultural values. He would never go onto or agree with Fox News, which is even more likeable to NPR.
As an example of how perverted this person is, this is his quote: "My husband's an actor." A quote that is perfectly acceptable to NPR's "all things considered". To me, this is a distinct mark of how gutter-strewn our culture has become.

Guys like Sullivan go on shows, like the Chris Matthews Show, so they can say things like this and not be challenged. When is the last time Matthews had a real conservative on?
I'd love to see Sullivan say something like this at a Fox News Roundtable and then see how soon they hand him his hat. He can say it but he can't defend it.
