Usually, I hate the Gators Bye-Week, but this one comes at an opportune time, we need to heal up before next week. After that horror hit last week, Tim Tebow's ability to play the following week is still up in the air. The Gator Nation waits in anticipation.
So I'll be watching LSU-UGA with interest today, and sorry, Dave...rooting agains your Dawgs (always the West team). Also want to see OU-UM....the Cane Trolls have been all over the Gator boards boasting, as usual. So, I'm doubly happy to be in the Sooner camp today (plus I still like Bob Stoops).
GO GATORS!!!!!
I hope he fails, too.

Very fortunate bye week indeed.
October 3, 2009 - 11:32 ET by RukusYou know I'm not a big Gator's fan. I like 'em a little, mostly because I think Tebow is an awesome athlete. I'm really glad to see him get a week off, after that hit, he deserves it. I hope he comes out 100%. When we meet in Dec. I want both teams at full strength, well, we won't as we lost Hightower, sigh. : ( Well, off to watch the Tide and Cats get it on! Prayers to Tim's full recovery. : )

Oh don't worry, we'll be ready for Timmy Tebow
October 3, 2009 - 18:57 ET by lsudolemiteAll I've been hearing for the last 2 weeks is how horrible and overrated the Tigers are, both from the media and our own fans, and how unstoppable Florida is. When your team plays in the SEC all the media hype gets very old very quickly. I hope Tebow is 100% when he comes to Tiger Stadium. If we pull out the win at home next week I don't want to hear any excuses about how the Golden Child wasn't himself. For today I'll be very happy to leave a lot of Dawg fans shocked and upset at Sanford Stadium.
Besides, we owe you guys payback for Meyer running up the score in the Swamp last year.

And....as we say on the Gator boards (which you should say to your doubting fans)...."why waste a good panic?"
I always have tons of respect for the fierce SEC West teams, and LSU the most. So, we'll see you next Saturday.
As for Tim, Urban is being Urban and not saying much, personally, I think Tebow won't start, he was lucky not to have broken his neck last week, supposedly is having headaches still.
Glad you guys pulled it out yesterday, too.
I hope he fails, too.
Not sure what to think about
October 4, 2009 - 12:27 ET by general companyFla this year, other then TN who isn't very good, they really haven't played anyone. Not that LSU had either until yesterday. Even though Fla has crushed the inferior teams, and LSU has played them close. This is pretty normal for LSU, they have a habit of playing down to the competition. LSU has superior talent, but they overrun plays on defense, and are to quick to the hole on offense, this is why I think they play better when exhaustion set's in. That said, QB Jefferson needs to get rid of the ball quicker. So I have a feeling the game will have an unexpected theme.
I hope Tebow is good to play, he is a lot of fun to watch, and quite honestly, I realy dont want Fla using that as motivation for the inevitable SEC match up. Because we both know this is the game that will decide the NC again.

October 3, 2009 - 09:49 ET by HeavyChevyThe old man is showing those young yahoos a new trick taking the pole once more. JR is starting up front for once sadly this is not saying much. Jr is turning into a sprinter (good earlier on then always manger to taper off) he needs to be the distance runner I know he can be.
This may shape up to be another Hendricks domination by season's end.
Heavy?
October 3, 2009 - 09:56 ET by BKeyserHow much of the 88's troubles do you think might be to "live testing" for the Hendrick stable? He's been out of the chase since June, so I'm thinking they may be trying some things for the notebooks. Nice to see him on the front row though; and it would be nice to see him in Victory Lane before the season's out.
And I'd really like to see Mark win the whole thing- he's been a really good ambassador for NASCAR for a really long time.
"Live testing" is a possibility BK...
October 3, 2009 - 10:10 ET by HeavyChevyJr and Hendrick has nothing to lose and everything to gain by tinkering with Jr.'s car for next season. Who knows maybe since Jr. made first row it's a good sign of things to come.
Ho Hum
October 3, 2009 - 10:03 ET by ricklailThis seems to be a Ho Hum day in college football. Gameday is at BC for the BC-FSU game. I would have thought that LSU-GA would be the marque matchup. The Dawgs have a great chance to catch LSU looking forward to the Gators next week. I am going to predict a Dawg victory.
Washington-ND could be interesting. So will USC-
Cal even though it doesn't have the glitter that it had just a couple weeks ago. The loser is probably out of the Pac 10 race and the Rose Bowl.
My Heels are playing VA in Chapel Hill. Everybody in the sports world knows that Jim Grohe is out at VA so they have nothing to lose.
I can assure you all that the Panthers will not lose this week. They are idle.

My Wings....
October 3, 2009 - 13:22 ET by Timothy HBabcock will have Detroit whipped up today, after losing the season opener, and the Wings will dominate St Louis today.
Not much of a shocker, but the Bears will win at Soldier field tomorrow over the still bad, but better than last year by far Lions. Won't be a blowout, though. NFC North division games seldom are.
And Jimmy Clausen will lead Notre Dame to a blowout win over Washington.
Detroit will clinch the AL central after beating the White Sox today and tomorrow.

Florida's schedule is a joke, and the only half-decent
October 3, 2009 - 20:31 ET by lsudolemiteteam yall have played so far is Tennessee, and they're getting their rear ends handed to them by Auburn right now. Superman looked quite underwhelming in that win because they finally played against a non-cupcake defense. Now you get to come to our house at night in front of a prime-time CBS audience. Last time that happened things didn't work out so well for you guys. We continue to get better on both sides of the ball every week, while Florida has no offense to speak of without St. Tebow. I figured after last weeks good ole ass whupping in Atlanta by the Yellowjackets the Heels would want some body to take it out on.
Now it appears my Dodgers are bound and determined to blow the NL West. The Rockies have to win both games to take it but after the Dodgers, having lost 5 in a row, things are looking good for them.

October 3, 2009 - 18:59 ET by ricklailI often wonder why they call it Rocky Top. Knoxville is not in the mountains. There is nothing rocky about Neland Stadium. Along the same line they refer to Auburn being on the plains. Never saw any plains around Auburn the many times I went by there on I-85.

October 3, 2009 - 20:04 ET by R D HelmMy sister graduated from Auburn, which is located in the middle of nowhere.
My sister-in-law worked at UT for two years after completing her masters.
My dad is from Kentucky but graduated from GT.
My dearly departed favorite Uncle, was a rabid Tide fan, so much so he once through a recliner out of the window of his den after a tough loss in the only Bama game he was unable to attend in his life because he had the flu.
My brother went to CU for two years.
I attended Kennesaw State University, which had no football team.
College football season is really strange around here.

October 3, 2009 - 20:28 ET by general companySportscaster suggest the SEC is having a down year? 3 out of the top 4 is a down year since when?
First 2 quarters were just cazy if your an LSU fan, this shouldnt of been close. So today LSU made all of the Fla fans happy, next week LSU will put a smile back on the faces of the Ga fans.

October 3, 2009 - 22:03 ET by JerPlus, the last time I checked scout.com recruting rankings, the SEC had 3 of the top 5 classes, and 5 of the top 10. The year before, they had 7 of the top 20.
Jer
Yep
October 4, 2009 - 11:35 ET by RukusThe SEC rocks! Plain and simple. Best conference period. 3 of the top 5 says a lot. ROLL TIDE! The GA/LSU game was great, well played. GA has a good team, rough year so far though. KY brought their A game yesterday, good game. I'm seeing an SEC team on top AGAIN! Big 12 my buttocks!! LOL! (Not aimed at you friend) ; )

Isnt that the truth
October 4, 2009 - 10:46 ET by general companySame place is right,
Just wanted to mention though, that even though Ga got the bad call (and yes both of them were bad) they still let LSU's Trindon Holliday return the ball to Ga 43 about 40yds, plus they recieved an illegal formation penalty. You simply cant do that at this point in a game, particularly when you started from in the hole because of the celibration penalty. Also the Refs did let Ga's Cox slide with an intentional grounding call in the endzone.
