Update from Minnesotans for Global Warming: 'Two Below Honey'
In honor of this year's harsh winter, our dear friends at Minnesotans for Global Warming have created a new song to address Nobel Laureate Al Gore's scam. Done to Van Morrison's hit "Tupelo Honey," they call it "Two Below Honey," and it's being premiered this morning at NewsBusters:
Thanks, guys. We hope you get some global warming soon. Coming soon: A brand-new NewsBusters design. But we need your help!

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 11:28 ET by elmerThere isn't much to do up here in Minnesota in the middle of the winter, so we made this movie. I thought of this song when we had a 3 day stretch where it didn't get above 0º.

You guys did an extremely good job on capturing the asinine scam that Al Gore and others, including the MSM, that perpetrated onto the world. Wierd Al and Cletus have made a lot of money doing this kind of parody. Great job!

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 11:18 ET by thebutlerdiditI catch myself singing "If I had some global warming" all the time. Catchy tune, and oh so true, even here in Georgia. It's only 18 here, right now. I know that's not too cold for some of ya'll, but we don't get that everyday.

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 12:02 ET by thebutlerdiditOh yeah! The funny thing was the next day after the repairman came and replaced the motor, either he did something wrong, or the motor was bad, but it caught on fire. It was like 4 a.m. and my hubby was out of town, and my son has a room on the 3rd floor of our house, so he got the smell and wisps of smoke first. It scared the poo out of me. I sent my son up to the attic with the fire extinguisher, but he couldn't find a flame The repair guy came out, and when he pulled the motor out, it was a mass of melted plastic and wires. Luckily it stayed in the motor. He went and got a new one, and things have been fine ever since. Thank goodness. Thanks for asking, I would be at the resort that is attached to my neighborhood, if there was no heat. My hubby doesn't want to pay for that, so he will make sure it stays warm. : )

I don't turn my heat on here often, but when I do...it's gross! The dust on the coils burns or something...it's awful for about ten minutes....so I always leave the windows open until it goes away....must contribute to global warming, doncha know!

Although I probably could just say the 10 of the hottest years on record were in the last 20 years. but that probably wouldn't mean anything to any of you.

USA: You'll have to be a bit
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 14:55 ET by QueenMumUSA: You'll have to be a bit more tolerant. You see, the regular attenders have gone over the argument so many times that it gets tedious. The true believers pretty much don't listen to the facts. But stick around. I'm sure someone will drop by to educate you. However, if you choose to believe that mankind is in control of the climate, you'll be disappointed in the answers.
not surprised
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:11 ET by USAnumber1I have to say I thought you guys would do a little better than that. Between the 4 of you I got ZERO reasons why you don't believe. except for that I should "check the archives." Yeah that's what I want to spend my day doing.
I also never said I think humans CONTROL the weather. The earth's ecosystem is a very delicate balance that ebbs and flows over times. naturally. At periods it has gotten warmer and other periods it has gotten colder. However, when you add an extra TRILLION PLUS tons a year of one ingredient (That should be there, but not in this magnitude) that is entire due to man, you upset the balance. Because the balance is upset, normal weather patterns are slowly changed and extremes set in. Over the past 20 years there has been record drought, floods, heat, tornados and hurricanes across the world due to these extremes.
So hopefully now you can all stop the repeatitive argument that it is too cold outside so global warming is BS

You're not concerned that the radical action being proscribed by Al Gore and his lap dogs will bring economic ruin to societies around the planet. For no valid reason. (Other than fattening his wallet.)
I’m guessing your “research” hasn’t revealed that probability. In fact, I’m guessing you have done very little, if any “research” regarding global warming. The way you jumped right in here and spouted the usual talking points indicates to me you’ve just sponged-up the nonsense with nary a thought to scientific method.
I believe you’ve already encountered some of the members here who are extremely well versed on the topic. If you’ve bothered to search the site (as in “research” the site) you’ll find that you may learn more here by accident, than elsewhere by design.
If you’re not swamped already, here are a few items that get right to the point.

In searching for a new enemy to

"The
current course of development is thus clearly unsustainable.
Current
problems cannot be solved by piecemeal measures.
More of the same
is not enough. Radical change from the
current trajectory is not
an option, but an absolute necessity.
Fundamental economic, social
and cultural changes that
address the root causes of poverty and
environmental
degradation are required and they are required
now."

"Isn't
the only hope for the planet that the
industrialized
civilizations collapse?
Isn't it our responsiblity to bring that
about?"
- Maurice Strong,
founder of the UN

"A
massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the
United States.
De-development means bringing our
economic system into line with
the realities of
ecology and the world resource situation."

Paul Ehrlich,
Professor of Population

"The
only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another
United
States. We can't let other countries have the same
number of
cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the US.
We have
to stop these Third World countries right where they are."
-
Michael Oppenheimer,

"Global
Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty,
reduced
resource consumption and set levels of mortality control."
-
Professor Maurice

"We
must make this an insecure and inhospitable place
for capitalists
and their projects. We must reclaim the roads and
plowed land,
halt dam construction, tear down existing dams,
free shackled
rivers and return to wilderness
millions of acres of presently
settled land."
- David Foreman,
co-founder of
Earth First!

"Complex
technology of any sort is an assault on
human dignity. It would
be little short of disastrous for us to
discover a source of
clean, cheap, abundant energy,
because of what we might do with
it."
- Amory Lovins, Rocky Mountain

"The
prospect of cheap fusion energy is the
worst thing that could
happen to the planet."
- Jeremy Rifkin,

three main goals would be to reduce human population to
about 100

"I
don't claim to have any special interest in natural history,

aspect of Gaia's - and our - being.
In a way, we are Gaia's

"The
spirit of our planet is stirring!
The Consciousness of Goddess
Earth
is now rising against all odds,
in spite of millennia
of suppression,
repression and oppression inflicted on Her
by
a hubristic and misguided humanity.
The Earth is a living
entity, a biological organism
with psychic and spiritual
dimensions.
With the expansion of the patriarchal religions
that
focused on a male God majestically
stationed in Heaven ruling
over the Earth and the
Universe, the memory of our planet's
innate Divinity
was repressed and banished into the
collective
unconscious of humanity."
- Envision

"Still
more important is the implication that the evolution of
homo
sapiens, with his technological inventiveness and his
increasingly
subtle communications network, has vastly increased
Gaia's range
of perception. She is now through us awake and aware
of herself.
She has seen the reflection of her fair face through the
eyes of
astronauts and the television cameras of orbiting spacecraft.
Our
sensations of wonder and pleasure, our capacity
for conscious
thought and speculation, our restless curiosity and
drive are hers
to share. This new interrelationship of Gaia with man
is by no
means fully established; we are not yet a truly collective
species,
corralled and tamed as an integral part of the biosphere,
as we
are as individual creatures. It may be that the destiny of
mankind
is to become tamed, so that the fierce, destructive, and
greedy
forces of tribalism and nationalism are fused into a
compulsive
urge to belong to the commonwealth of all
creatures which
constitutes Gaia."
–
Sir James Lovelock,
Gaia: A New Look At
Life
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Little
by little a planetary prayer book is
thus being composed by an
increasingly united
humanity seeking its oneness. Once
again,
but this time on a universal scale, humankind is
seeking
no less than its reunion with 'divine,'
its transcendence into
higher forms of life. Hindus
call our earth Brahma, or God, for
they rightly
see no difference between our earth and the
divine.
This ancient simple truth is slowly dawning again
upon
humanity, as we are about to enter our cosmic age
and
become what we were always meant to be:
the planet of god."
-
Robert Muller,
UN Assistant
Secretary
General
"What
if Mary is another name for Gaia? Then her capacity for
virgin
birth is no miracle . . . it is a role of Gaia since life began . .
She is of this Universe and, conceivably, a part of God. On
Earth,
she is the source of life everlasting and is alive now;
she
gave birth to humankind and we are part of her."
So even many of those promoting AGW don't really believe it Probably most of them by now. They think the ends justify the means. But this wouldn't concern you would it? Right now he's looking pretty bad with the edit key. "He Who Shall Not Be Named" (Steve McIntyre) caught another whee error. So Gavin worked throught the Super Bowl to cover it up. (After sitting on the data for a year.) Then lectures Steve for not rushing to report the error to a closed office on Sunday evening> Instead of eating dinner or watching the Super Bowl.
It's amazing how many people stopped getting links from GISS. And started taking screen shots and hard copies before it changes.
Sat, 02/07/2009 - 00:32 ET by NL207Those errors are very significant, contrary to what Gavin says about this. In fact, they are significant enough, if I read the discussion correctly, to call into question the results of this recently published paper.
This error and Schmidt's unprofessional handling of it, has even caused McIntyre and others to begin questioning the Anarctic surface temp measuring station's accuracy based on their snow cover. There has always been a question about why the land station results in the Antarctic have varied from the satellite measurements by as much as they do.
Yet that doesn't seem to give the faithful any pause.
Over 90% of the scientific community believes in global warming (including many conservative republicans), but you don't want to actually familarize yourself with the science and because Al Gore has devoted over 30 years of his life to research about this, it's obviously a conspiracy?
man you guys are too much. So scared of the big bad liberal conspiracies. Better lock your doors, load your guns, and say your prayers...
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:30 ET by BlondeIs "Exposing Liberal Media Bias".
Need me to translate that for you?
???
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:41 ET by USAnumber1But you haven't exposed anything. No one has exposed anything here except say that it's cold where they are.
I'm giving you good ammunition to expose (read above), but no one is doing it. So yes, I would like a better translation.
Translation for the n00b
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:59 ET by BlondeThe purpose of the NewsBusters blog, n00b, is exposing liberal media bias.
Now follow carefully, I'll try to type slowly.
The mainstream media promotes AGW AS A FACT. When it is nothing of the kind. AGW is a theory. Al Gore and the rest of you warmers, or alarmists, or whatever you want to call yourselves this week, can scream "Consensus!" all you want, but that doesn't make AGW a fact.
Ergo sum, AGW presented as a fact is media bias.
Here's where you need to educate yourself. Read the archives here. Pay particular attention to danbo, NL207, and hydrodynDM for scientific methods (hydro's a physicist, I'll let dan & NL give you their own credentials).
Before you start slinging around dead polar bears and melting ice caps, read the archives here. There are a zillion of them, which have all sorts of fascinating links to real studies and data which will make you question your belief in AGW.
Pay attention. Noel's post on this blog was taking a shot at the silliness of the whole AGW thing. To hear you warmers, everything and anything causes Global Warming....too many kids, cow farts, gourmet cooking, breathing....who knows what the next stupid claim is going to be, hmmm?
Here's the last point. The warmers and alarmists have figured out that the whole "Global Warming" thing sounds really stupid, so they've attempted to rename it "Climate Change". Oh....the climate changes...wow! Who knew?
got it
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 16:14 ET by USAnumber1Well of course it's a theory? How in the hell could you definitely PROVE all the complicated aspects of GW. The problem is that any time there is a cold day here, or one year where the tempeatures are stable, people cry that it's evidence of global warming being false. The whole point of the theory is that the climate is a very delicate system and if you disrupt it enough, you can create an unbalance.
Meterologists can't even predict what the weather will be like next week so there is no way this theory will ever be proved a fact cause no one can predict the weather in advance. saying that GW is not a fact is easy because of that.
oh and of course because they changed the name of it must mean that its a fraud. that has to be the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. As we are becoming more familar with what may be the result of GW, it's name has changed. here's why:
The "warming" label was due to more CO2 in the atmosphere trapping more heat from the sun from escaping.....leading to warming.
"climate change" is a result of this warming. make sense now?
in closing, im not saying that GW is a 100% fact because the earth is too complicated a system. but to say that the evidence is lacking is just nuts.
THOUSANDS of scientists believe it, so im not too concerned about just one man (hydrodynDM).
A#1, Try this, good stuff
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 16:45 ET by BlondeYou do understand irony, don't you?
"The problem is that any time there is a cold day here, or one year where the tempeatures are stable, people cry that it's evidence of global warming being false."
"The "warming" label was due to more CO2 in the atmosphere trapping more heat from the sun from escaping.....leading to warming."
Someone call the paramedics. I'm on the floor dying of laughter, here.
guess we'll have to try again
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 17:04 ET by USAnumber1just because there is more heat being trapped inside the atmosphere doesn't mean that every single day the temperature is going to increase. There are hundreds of other factors.
however, over time, you will see the climate change as the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere increases.
it's not an overnight event.
still waiting for your rebuttal. im sure i wont get it except for an email quoting me and then stating what yorue doing curently.
Here you go
From 1895-2008. I looked at the winter average temps for KW. There are extreme periods. From 1950 to about 59 their mean temp dropped about 11F. That's the mean not the minimum.
Looks like the last few years KW have been warm. If it shifts...
The OBVIOUS omission from his rant is how America alone can fix the problem. If we adopt the Warmists' policies (and theories), who thinks Red China and India will blindly follow us off that cliff? Lost industry from the USA will simply set up somewhere else.
http://www.drroyspencer.com/2009/01/al-gores-propaganda/
Mr. Gore’s tactics have been a little more subtle, and reminiscent of propaganda methods which have proved to be effective throughout history at influencing public opinion. One should keep in mind that his main scientific adviser, NASA’s James Hansen, has the most extreme views of any climate researcher when it comes to predicting a global warming induced Armageddon.
About Dr. Roy Spencer
Roy W. Spencer received his Ph.D. in meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Before becoming a Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2001, he was a Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where he and Dr. John Christy received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for their global temperature monitoring work with satellites. Dr. Spencer’s work with NASA continues as the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite. He has provided congressional testimony several times on the subject of global warming.
Dr. Spencer’s research has been entirely supported by U.S. government agencies: NASA, NOAA, and DOE. He has never been asked by any oil company to perform any kind of service. Not even Exxon-Mobil.
Dr. Spencer’s first popular book on global warming, Climate Confusion (Encounter Books), is now available at Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com.
Buy your Al Gore 'Hot Pants' before they are gone
Wed, 02/04/2009 - 22:22 ET by Retired GeekAl Gore Science lab, a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Gore Industries has made a startling discovery.
They have determined that human flatulence averages 1 to 3 pints a day. Al Gore immediately discerned that this flatulence is a major contributor to Global Warming and set his science lab to work.
The Al Gore Science Lab has responded with a New Clothing line named 'Hot Pants'.
The rear of the pants contains 'Smart' technology along with an electronic pilot light, when the 'Smart' device detects flatulence, it immediately fires the pilot light, thus burning off the gas (do NOT wear while pumping gasoline).
The clothing line has 'Hot Pants' for both females and males.
WARNING 'Spooning' with a female may be dangerous to male testicles, if both are wearing Hot Pants.
Barack Obama praised the Liberal Genius Al Gore and stated he may mandate all citizens to wear the clothing line.
Obama stated there is nothing like watching people walking at night in Hot Pants - it reminds him of watching fireflies when he was a child.
