Some legendary entertainers were honored at the White House and the Kennedy Center this weekend setting up an uncomfortable encounter -- and an awkward kiss! -- between President George W. Bush and one of his staunchest Hollywood critics, Barbra Streisand.

Also recognized for their work were (from left to right) Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of the Who, dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp, actor Morgan Freeman (talking to Streisand), and country musician George Jones (photo courtesy LA Times).

Congratulations to all.

Shades of the Way We Were

Reminds me of the Streisand -Redford classic "The Way We Were"

What a phony...

She is the epitome of a phony liberal hypocrite...

BLECCCHHHH

oh, I don't know about that kiss...

But then again, while I was watching it, I was reflecting back on the picter of Cindy Sheehan and President Bush exchanging a kiss, the first time they met (in a service honoring her son who lost his life in Iraq).

But then again, a penny for Bab's thoughts in those few seconds.

This President shows more courage and class

than these clowns deserve. The man is more than honorable to this office.

And if protocol requires, he will even kiss a pig.

Babs kiss for the Prez...I don't think...

that it looks that strained and awkward...Let's face it...Kissing any stranger, in a public, formal setting like this is going to seem a bit uncomfortable, even if the people involved like each other.

In this case, we are very well aware of how 'ol Babs feels about President Bush...She has made is very clear what she thinks of him, but she sure doesn't mind receiving an award from him, does she? (HYPOCRITE!!!)

Personally, I think Bush showed a lot of class...I'm sure that rather than giving her a kiss, he would rather have given her a good cuffing!

I know I would!!!

As far as I'm concerned,

As far as I'm concerned, with that "kiss" President Bush has "jumped the shark".

Bring the curtain down, it's time to go home.

I was more than a little hesistant

to even click the link to this story.  :)

Hey!

Don't give W any gruff, he was being very classy. I , myself, would have spit on her. Of course when it comes to libbies, I have no class! I think she should have stayed home, in protest, since she hates Bush so much. Maybe she could have just have them hold her award and let BO give it to her, later. Oh, the joy that would have been! I'm sure she will get plenty of chances to return to her old stompin' grounds in the Lincoln bedroom, though. I am always surprised when I hear people say they like her music, I really, really cannot stand the sound of her voice. I remember hearing "Evergreen" as a child, and thinking, "what the heck is that?"

Another Principled Leftist

If Barbara were really true to her beliefs and statements, she should have refused to accept the award and to be on the same stage with Bush.  She has spewed poisonous assertions about him for eight years now.  Where are her principles?  I smell hypocrisy, which is a common odor around Hollywood liberals.

Like Father, Like Son

Remember when President Bush Senior was filmed kissing a pig at some county fair during the '92 campaign?  Looks like history repeats itself.  Junior got to kiss one too!

What is this award for?

What are the Kennedy Honors for? Lifetime achievement of the performing arts or something? I have nothing good to say about this. We need the arts; I really do believe that. However, we do not need to over-congratulate self-important performers. I get sick of hearing how this performer or that performer "changed my life." Why would anyone let these people change one's life? Having said all that, I recognize that I am a snob and a curmudgeon ...at the ripe old age of 42.

Mrs. Brolin's Typical Lieberal Hypocrisy

To wonder why Mrs. Brolin didn't protest the Kennedy Center Award night by staying away is to believe lieberals aren't hypocritical.
