Gibson Credits NewsBusters For Matthews/Olbermann Demotions

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

On Monday, Fox News's John Gibson gave credit to NewsBusters for the demotions of Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann from their positions as co-anchors of MSNBC's election and debate coverage.

On Sunday, MSNBC announced that NBC's David Gregory would be replacing them in this role, and that they would continue as on-air analysts.

The following day, Gibson, who is a staunch detractor of Matthews and Olbermann, took what he referred to as a "Victory Lap," and gave credit to a number of websites for their hard work in continually exposing the over-the-top bias regularly exhibited by this pair (audio available here courtesy our good friend Johnny Dollar, relevant section at 7:00):

Let's give some credit to a lot of people who made this happen, because, you know, if it wasn't for Johnny Dollar, if it wasn't for NewsBusters, if it wasn't for Hot Air.com, Olbermann Watch.com, this stuff would have been swept under the rug. And thank God those people were there watching, because there is some relief in sight. MSNBC is still going to be left, but it's not going to be swimming around with snorkels and fins in the tank.

You're welcome, John.

Journalism is the opium of the liberals

As If MSNBC and MSM Give a Rat's Patoot Newbusters

If that was the case, FOX would have some competition from MSNBC. How is Gregory any different than these two? It will save MSNBC money: he will be a "toofer".

One of you guys could make world's worst person!

Wouldn't that be a nice badge of honor?

allow me to love

allow me to love America

it is a free country. however the price is high. as these two morons are finding out. be fair, be factual was the creed, maybe those on the left will find their way back to that creed.

no, but it was a pleasant thought anyway.

thanks to those who care.

Congratulations News Busters !!!

 Congratulations News Busters !!!

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

wow!

CONGRATS, Newsbusters! This is great!! :)

I've believed for quite a while now that we wield some pretty good influence in the world of politics and the media.

Obama... a total fraud. Palin... a total hottie.

"Busted" for the over the

"Busted" for the over the top bias, MSNBC will try to go back to a more subtle form of bias that the MSM previously used. It really can't go that far, seeing how they're keeping Heckyl and Jeckyll around their - er - coverage. Unfortunately for them, the professionals at NewsBusters excel at pointing out and documenting the more subtle forms of bias. NewsBusters documents the bias that we all knew existed for years but could never quite quantify on our own. It also made me feel a lot better knowing that there were a lot more people out there who saw what I saw. I no longer had to express my outrage by yelling at my television screen. Thanks and congratulations NewsBusters, you're making them worried and uncomfortable!

Matthews/Olberman Story

Great job, Newsbusters, but this is just the first step.  We can't quit now!  After all, they just gave Rachel Maddow her own show, and in a lot of ways she's even worse than Matthews/Olberman.  After all, she works for Air America.  We really need to keep working to get all of these extremists completely off the air.  Although Gregory is also a far left-winger, I actually think he's been trying a bit harder to present some fair coverage on his 6:oo p.m. show.  The operative words here, of course, are TRYING and BIT!

WooHoo !!! Take that

WooHoo !!! Take that Chrissy and Keith.

Thankyou NB staff and contributors you guys are awesome !

Everybody pat yourselves on the back !

Two down, and about two-hundred and thirty-seven to go.

Congrats to everyone here at NB, as well as all my fellow HotAir members, and to everyone else in the blogosphere for helping to bring this small victory about.

Now what to do about David Gregory, who is every bit as much of DNC hack as Matthews and Olbermann.

-Dave.

Three cheers to John

Three cheers to John Gibson...I miss him on Fox, have for a long time...I watched this great guy since he would fill in for Geraldo on msnbc long ago...he is one fine out-spoken conservative man.

Great job NBs and all involved!

It is absolutely wonderful seeing all the hard work pay off and make a difference....

FOX NEWS TALK...

bigtimer,

I miss Gibby on FoxNewsChannel as well, he decided that since he turned 62, had been doing TV for over 30 years, & everything will be in HD soon, he's retired from the TV side. But, he has 1 of the best radio shows in America. He is on FoxNewsTalk, for me, that is on XM-168 at 5pm central. It is funny as hell, & informative. Look him up online, maybe you can listen on 1 of the stations that carries his show. It is can't miss radio for me.

msnbc changes

In my opinion, this move has nothing to do with “allegations” of being biased. MSNBC/NBC clearly could care less or they would have pulled these slugs a long time ago. Its about either 1…. Ratings… . The truth is, although the ratings of Oberstleutnant Oberdork (and msnbc, generally) are improved, they are still a pittance of O'Reilly (and Fox generally). (Fox pulled in 10.2 Million for McCains speech beating all networks, including the alphabits (formerly know as the main stream media). Perky got less than half the viewers that Fox did. Or the 2nd reason…. and, I think, more important reason that nbc threw the children under ths bus.... the obamadinejad campaign is in huge trouble. Today we learned that he has major fund raising issues in the NY Times, In the last 24 hours, M T Suit has reversed his primary position and announced he would NOT rescind Bushs tax cuts and stated his support for Charter school, throwing the Teacher's union under the bus, as he scrambles to stop the electorial bleeding. Can you say meltdown !! The NBC/GE suits figured out after watching GOP delegates chant "NBC, NBC" when Pistol Packin Palin criticized the media that the "I’m gonna hold my breath ubtil I turn blue liberal commentary" of the children was hurting, not helping obama.  If the suits are removing the boys to help Obama, the questions becomes why do they care so much? I have a pretty crazy idea about that. Certainly, their historical liberal views are a given, but I also feel that the Capo di tutti capi of GE, Jeff Immelt,  enraptured with the early success of the Goracle, and the early worldwide government embrace of Global Warming, has bet the farm on “Green” .Without massive federal intervention, (carbon credit trading, tax subsidies for clean energy, grants for clean energy research, ad nauseum) “Ecomagination” is going nowhere. His strategy is dependant upon a federal government who is willing to transfer billions of tax dollars to GE. Given that GE’s slide in market capitalization is giving Pinchie Sulzburger at the NY Times a run for his money…. Immelt needs a miracle. Ergo, the Messiah must win.

Difference of Opinion is what makes a Horse Race

THAT is brilliant, hgabrahamson

Why didn't I think of that? And I'm serious when I say that.

I'm fond of saying, follow the money.

And your analysis is spot-on about GE and "ecomagination".  Many of the Fortune 500's are on a Green path, because they believe it to be good for business....even if it is just in a feel good way for their customers (brand loyalty does add to the old profit margin).  Most big companies that are headed down the green road are actually able to demonstrate a positive effect on their bottom line.

But you are correct, for GE, they're looking for federal  inteverntion in the form of subsidies, tax transfers, mandated use of those idiot bulbs, etc.

So he called off the sea monkeys.  It's not going to be enough, though....all of the leftis media is in terminal meltdown.  This is going to be sweet.

David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive

Well done NB

Well done NB! A great service was done to the country by getting those two Bozos off those anchor seats. They're a disgrace. A disgrace in a profession that reaches lower depths of repugnancy on an almost hourly basis. They stood out, that says everything.

I have always thought highly of John Gibson, I miss his show terribly.

Way to go NB and the contributers, I learn everyday, thanks
