Meet the Money Behind the Liberal New Media Machine

Have you ever considered who's financing the various new media outlets spreading extreme-liberal viewpoints around the country?

Most people think the biggest source is George Soros. However, there are others that are not necessarily household names, but are having a huge influence on the state of journalism today and in the future.

More importantly, they're on a mission to redefine the political landscape in ways you might not have imagined.

As reported by NewsBusters Matt Sheffield and Noel Sheppard in the September issue of the Capital Research Center's "Foundation Watch":

Story Continues Below Ad ↓
The left's inability to articulate a national message has frustrated its theorists and donors for many years but especially following the 2000 and 2004 presidential election losses. Despite massively increasing the size of its fi nancial pool, the left was not able to secure the White House for candidates Al Gore and John Kerry. After Kerry conceded in 2004, liberal frustration led to the creation of a fake map that mocked right-of-center America, deriding those parts of the nation that voted for President George W. Bush as "Jesusland." [...]
The financiers of the left were forced to reexamine their assumptions. Big donors such as George Soros, his friend Progressive Insurance chairman Peter B. Lewis, the savings and loan tycoons Herbert and Marion Sandler and other prominent fi gures, especially in Silicon Valley and Hollywood, faced up to their electoral defeats and reached a startling conclusion: Funding partisan politics may not be the best way to enact a political agenda.
The money men realized that while elections are important, they are only steps in a much longer process. Something more fundamental would have to occur before liberal candidates like Gore and Kerry could convince the public that their ideas were best for America. Americans would fi rst have to grow accustomed to left-wing political messages-and that would require a more radical transformation of the media, one requiring massive capital investments in institutions that would create a media environment hospitable to far left ideas.

Big Money

The MSM and the DNC have harped on the rich Reps.

What they don't tell you that the Democratic party is the party of the rich.

It's called Propaganda and the Lib's are great at it.

George Orwells 1984 is their guide book. Rerite history to your own benifit.

Notice how oil prices are falling?  My prediction. If O Dumby is elected look for $5.00 to $5.50 a gal with short supply. They will then try and spin it as Bushes fault.

Rem. Clinton is behind it with the Dubai Emerates.

I couldn't disagree with you

I couldn't disagree with you more.  The Democrat party is the party of the poor people.  They take ordinary people, make them poor, and keep them poor.

Be Choosy About Doing Business

It's probably a little tough for most of us to give any business to George Soros.  So it's tough for us to take any of it away.  His investors are extremely wealthy.  However, it's not so difficult to direct our car insurance business away from Progressive.  Why should your auto insurance premiums go to support people and causes you find repulsive?

Great Advice CWG

Very good point CWG.  Progressive has been on my radar screen a long time.  I can't believe FOX accepts their advertising business.

I think it is essential in this day and age to withold money from as many wealthy socialists as possible - From the insurance we buy all the way down to the ketchup we serve.

Matt & Noel

You know I'm always saying "follow the money".  The spider-web of financial relationships is fascinating, and rather scary, too.   Doncha just love reading those audited financial statements?  I always start at the back, with the notes.  That's where the best stuff is.

As conservatives, we must continue to fight the "Fairness Doctrine"....which is the ultimate goal of the left.

Excellent article.

So what's up in the Cities today?  You should go over to the Fox News tent and wave at us...get Brett Baire to interview you (he just interviewed some worker who wandered into the tent).

Have fun!

The Article I've Been Waiting For

Very insightful article Matt and Noel.  Nice to be able to put names/faces to the people behind the bias -- duly noted.

Your hard work on this article answers so many questions I previously held.  Particularly why the dems keep nominating the most left-leaning politicians for the Presidency almost certainly having to know the general electorate will reject them...it all comes down to that is who the liberal big money operators want to buy regardless of what the majority of Americans want.  And it appears these greedy billionaires know that if you continue to throw a lot of money at advertising you can sell anything. Then it appears it is just a matter of passing that info down the chain of command all the way to the unwitting kool-aid drinker residing at the basement of the food chain hoping they have propagandized sufficiently to pull out the election.  Thank God for independent thinking Americans....so far.

Your article also explains why the left is so against capitalism (they already have gotten theirs, screw others) and particularly against big oil profits (can't have other wealthy folks with opposite ideology continuing to hang around).

Many other insightful revelations came from your article as well. Thanks again.

With the left spending three times as much as the right on getting the message out, we've certainly got our work cut out for us.

Here is diagram that

Excellent research and investigation.
